It reminded both of us of the way hotels in Europe used to be many years ago (in a good way), but with some modern upgrades. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded into a huge room (more like an entire apartment) with a nice view of the square. The air conditioning worked great, and the windows and shutters really blocked any street noise. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed. The decor is perhaps a bit kitschy, but to each his own. In addition, the location is great - close to many sights and good restaurants. While there were no parking spaces available in front of the hotel during our study, we were able to easily find public parking within a few minutes walk. We would definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

Reviewed By OseDanThe started here for 3 months - from Sept to Dec 2018. They price is relatively good, the room is a good size with basic facilities. However, the service and attitude of the staff is very poor. Wifi is UNRELIABLE at best. No English-speaking TV channel. I complained several times about other guests smoking in the room next to mine, and the hotel staff showed an indifferent attitude and nothing changed. Hotel staff that cleaned the room did a very poor job, sometimes leaving the bathroom & toilet virtually untouched. The breakfast options are very poor for the price (extra cost breakfast). To be honest, the only positive thing about this hotel is the location and the price. If I had a short-stay visit to Pau, I will NEVER stay at Appart’hotel Victoria Garden.

Great value and extremely helpful staff

Drove down from Limoges Airport (4 hours) and realised that we would not arrive until c. 10pm whereas Reception closes at 9pm. We rang ahead and the lady agreed that she would stay until 10pm to give us our keys - how good was that?? We arrived at 9.55pm and were able to collect the keys and the combination for the front door. Small, comfortable, clean rooms and an inexpensive continental breakfast. A restaurant next door and a number of places in the vicinity particularly Au Bureau which we found to be very good.

Rooms more of an IBIS level but top-notch staff
Reviewed By Francoise LCramped rooms, narrow and hard beddings on which it is impossible to relax, not-so-fresh pillows, super thin towels, minimalist toiletries– just a gel fixed to the wall of the shower, we had to claim hand soap – we were used to a better treatment by Mercure hotels. The rooms here are more of a basic Ibis. The parking is not closed, which is not reassuring when you have to leave luggage in the car due to lack of space. Many customers weren't wearing masks - even in elevators - and we didn't see them asked to wear ones. In addition, the sanitary pass is not required for breakfast, a rule by the Accor group according to the receptionist. However, we stayed in another Accor hotel in September and customers without a sanitary pass had to have their breakfast in their room. On the other side the hotel is quiet and well located near the highway, dinner and breakfast were more than good. The staff are very kind and responsive. These positive points made our stay a little more comfortable.

Reviewed By John AWe always enjoy our stay at Pau either on our journey to Spain or on our return home to England. Sadly because of the travel restrictions on visitors through France we were unable to make the journey to Spain and hence were unable to stay at Pau. This is one of the 3 Premiere Classe hotels which were booked and not fulfilled. Extremely disappointed!!!

Reviewed By Donald PTwo nights repeat stay here was, as ever, delightful with a large and well equipped room, comfortable double bed and good views over the town. The position is ideal for visiting the Spa (Thermes) just downhill and thw whole town is walkable, including the rather more ambitious hill, the Pain de Sucre, where deer and some ponies are kept in fairly open conditions. Breakfasts were just fine, and we enjoyed one dinner there, well up to the standard of the hotel itself. We did not use the Casino incorporated, but the associated bar was pretty well stocked.
