We were part of a small group touring Spain. Our room was spacious and clean. The staff were super friendly. A top notch hotel. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed drinks in the bar and lounge area, and had a pleasant dinner in the dining room. This may be the best hotel of our trip.

Beautiful view and hotel, but not a good experience

Reviewed By Deniscastel

The view from the hotel on the city of Aracena and on the hills (from the back side) are just wonderful. Awesome lobby, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast is OK. But for many reasons, we were not really satisfied with our stay : 1) Rooms are equipped with cold white Led bulbs, not powerful enough, which give a gloomy atmosphere, emphasized by the grey decoration. In the evening, it was like being at a funeral. Not what we expect from a hotel room ! We regret also that there is only one armchair available in the double room. Where is supposed to seat comfortably the second person ? 2) Everywhere in the public spaces, the music is loud, what is very unpleasant, especially during breakfast. Hard to relax and make it a moment of serenity, in total opposition with the beautiful nature of the Sierra of Aracena. 3) We were also surprised that there is nobody at the front desk. You have to ring to have somebody coming ! Not a soul to welcome you or to greet you ! How sad ! 4) Lastly, the old town and the restaurants are closed to the hotel, but you have to cross a main road with a lot of traffic without any secure crossway. That is dangerous. It's up to the management to improve these different points.

Relaxing Long weekend on the Outskirts of Aracena

Reviewed By LuzLiving

The finca is a 5 minute drive outside the town of Aracena. It is a perfect spot to disconnect for a while. The rooms are just like you see in the photos. Very homely and nice an warm. The staff were very helpful and you are given a pack to prepare your own breakfast in the morning. Everything is very clean and the water pressure for showers is great, only slight complaint is that the showerhead is low so a person over 6ft has to crouch a little. Would highly recommend

Situated within easy wAlking to all the sights. On arrival Miguel showed us two available rooms so we could decide which we preferred. We chose a nice room to the front of the hotel which gave a lovely view towards the town. Easy parking on the street opposite. Miguel gave us a map and marked the sights and places to eat. He also pointed out the kitchen and sitting room facility which was spotless albeit we only made a cup of tea. But this would be great for preparing sandwiches for walking. There was also a nice patio to the rear which was good for relaxing after walking/sightseeing. The bar downstairs was great for breakfast and closed fairly early so was not noisy at night. We enjoyed a lovely coffee and toast for 2.50 euros per person. Overall a great find ..I would definitely stay here again.

Small cosy hotel. There is a living room and a small yard where breakfast is served. I did not have breakfast because I did not like the very noisy "waterfall" they had installed there.... Room was small, bed was good but the chair uncomfortable. Minibar was nice to have cool water, bathroom fine, aircon. and wifi fine. My room had windows facing the yard, so I had to keep them closed during day time due to the noisy waterfall. Luckily it is first turned on just before 9 o clock and turned off again before bed time.

Still charming, 5 years after first visit

This was my 4th visit to Finca Valbono with a small group of UK walkers and our Leader Lynne (Nordic Walking Fit, UK). There is much description of Valbono on Tripadvisor and accurate photos. Suffice to say it still offers a warm, friendly welcome. I wondered if the Covid pandemic had changed it but am pleased to say it still felt the same. The Managers and staff are very good. For us hopeless Brits with only rudimentary Spanish there was never any problem making ourselves understood. We had a couple of very wet cold days and it was a real pleasure to come back to the roaring log fire in the lounge. Nice food too, although the Restaurant may not be open every day. Best to check.

Husband and I booked 4 nights at this hotel on a little road trip around Andalucia. By the 3rd night could not cope with another night and added an extra day to our next hotel. Arriving at last Era, thanks only to Google maps as would never have found it otherwise as it is poorly signposted and not from main road, very warm welcome from the lovely Estrella who showed us a room next to the front door and on the, path to the restaurant. I booked a quiet room....this does not seem to be a quiet room? Not a problem, she moved us to a room downstairs with wonderful views, a little outside area can be used to sit out. She was very helpful. The bathroom was somewhat smelly but clean and the room was clean. No fridge which was not helpful. Lovely views from most of the property, some spectacular colours and very peaceful and quiet. Dinner was awful, very little choice. But breakfast was in a class of its own......all the food was out, uncovered, people leaning over it. Yo brt hot eater from a kettle, one had yo lean ovee the open plates of ham and cheese. Flies were all around and one hardly knew what was safe, even the bread was out and uncovered. It does not take much to cover food up. Not a single one of the various, kitchen staff had on a uniform. Whoever was cooking, on any day, simply had their outdoor clothes on, bringing with them whatever they had been up to that day. Along with food goers, what about aprons/uniforms for food preparers? I can eat most things, and the only time I have an upset stomach is if the food is bad...and boy did I get an upset stomach on our last day. Diarrhoea and nausea for more than 24 hours. I was woohoo glad I had decided to leave a day early. We had to stop x4 from aracena to Seville to use the services (A 50 minute journey) but I could not have spent another night there. Cost around £200 to both add an extra day to our next hotel and lose the cost of the last night at la Era, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Reception staff were lovely, views were great, but don't make up for the lack of basic hygiene in the kitchen dining room. Would not recommend.
