Great value!

It's conveniently located, although a little difficult to find at the beginning. The owner is super friendly and helpful. The building is quite old but pretty clean. The owner has a very quiet and small dog.

Best place for groups

Reviewed By giulianjung

It’s a really nice place to come with a group of 5+ people, you’ll pay less then ¥5000, and it’s really comfortable, you’ll also have a little view of Mount Fuji but not completely. People on the balcony are nice and they speak English. You’ll have to share a bath and toilet area but it’s clean and organized.

Michael Saved My Life

Reviewed By Pali A

Winter. I came to climb Mt Fuji. How difficult could it be? It's a gradual slope and even senior citizens are strolling on Fuji's incline from one snack shop to the next. But there's a climbing season. People are advised to not climb Fuji outside of summer. If you do, Michael wanted me to sign a release form which would allow him to go thru my things in case of my death. Since my backpack is filled with Adult Toys which I didnt want him & his Filipino staff to see, I decided to not climb it. Thanks, Michael, you might have saved my life. 1. Strong WiFi. 2. Lots of hot water & good water PRESSURE. 3. Bunks have curtains & lamps but no elec sockets. 4. Soap, shampoo, conditioner (i'm bald). 5. Tea & coffee. I stayed at 3 hostels in Fuji Yoshida. See what I think of all of them.

We offer simple hostel-style dormitory accommodation in a Japanese setting (futon mattress beds and woven straw tatami flooring). windy & cold

Reviewed By tomonfire

Overall one of the worst hostel experiences I've ever had. But let's start with: The good things: - wifi worked very well - location is close to train station (though the city is small and almost any accomodation can be considered as close to the station) The bad things: - this is an old japanese family house and not built to host around twenty people. everything is thight and gets quickly dirty. - the old house does not protect from weather conditions. i stayed there for two nights. in the first night the temperature in my dorm was 3 deg. in the second night it was 5 deg. i could feel the wind blowing throughout the night. the building is not isolated at all and has no (!) heating. - most disappointing to me was the behaviour of the owner. when i did realize in the evening that the room has no heating i asked, almost begged, the staff to heat the room with the one mobile heater they have. but the staff told me that the owner doesnt want to heat the room up. he simply didnt care about our sleep and our health. after the two nights i did get a strong cold. not so nice when you are on your once-in-a-life japan journey. the owner also didnt provide any solution to the problem in the second night (even though I asked the staff again to do sth). my feeling is that the owner wants to make as much money as he can with the old building and gives a sh** on the basic needs of his guests (protection from uncomfortable weather conditions is the one thing i can expect from any accomodation).

Not a good place to stay with friends

Reviewed By Nico P

Spent 4 nights here for the new year of 2012, wasn't really nice experience. So many curfews: entrance closed at 10pm, ofuro closed at 10pm, morning shower closed at 9am, and must not stay in the room after 9.30am. The staff claimed that they will clean the room after 9.30am, but when we got back at night, nothing changed. Since the walls of the room were thin, just a little bit of laughter can be heard outside and the neighbors will most likely complain. Not a good place to spend the new year or any celebrations. The place was also not so friendly for those who don't have a car. Without a car you will need to climb quite a long way to the hostel. The free wifi was weak in the room. Pretty much useless.

I visited this Youth Hostel for one night stay with my wife and son. We started the next day for visiting Inuyama Castle from here. There are some types of rooms, and we stayed at Japanese styled 6-Tatami-mat room with a restroom and a washstand. Putting 3 Futon mats, we could sleep together comfortably. A large bathroom and a small bathroom are on the 1st basement. On the day we were, the large one was assigned for gents. The bathtub there was large enough for more than 10 people. Please note that any towels are not prepared for any rooms and bathrooms. Those who try to stay there should bring some or buy at the reception counter. The location of this facility is a little bit difficult to arrive in the night without GPS navigation. Total fee of our stay for one night was JPY7,400(=USD61.7) only. Very cheap but the quality was very nice.

Obuses friendly Youth Hostel

Reviewed By Cookingali

Obuse youth hostel is more like a family run guest house. Dinner and breakfast are included both excellent and great value for money. Check you book for. We stayed two nights in a western style room. The staff are very friendly and helpful despite limited English . Location is extremely good two minutes from the Hokusai Museum. The hostel has very high standard of cleanliness. Note this is a youth hostel so there are some restrictions on arrival times and you are expected to be out during the day. We found this is no problem as there is plenty to do in this pretty little town. Internet in the lounge.
