The best available Hostels hotel to stay near Castile-La Mancha

April 26, 2023 Brandee Mangan

Castile-La Mancha, a Spanish land of craggy cliffs, golden fields and red soil, produces savory Manchego cheese, olives, saffron and more than its share of mystery. Chase the enduring legend of Don Quixote among the windmills of Campo de Criptana. Pass through the Bisagra Gate to experience the walled city of Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage site that pays stylistic tribute to the Christian, Jewish and Islamic cultures. In Guadalajara, palaces and Baroque churches capture the imagination.

La Posada de Manolo hotel con encanto

Discover the magic of Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage City. Wander the narrow streets, admire the majesty of the Cathedral and live its history step by step. La Posada de Manolo, in the heart of Toledo’s historical center, next to the Cathedral, is the perfect place to get started on a walking tour of this ancient city’s most emblematic sights. Before setting off, you may want to enjoy a privileged bird’s eye view of Toledo from our rooftop terrace, a perfect spot to disconnect, relax, read or just chat. The entire hotel has the flavor of another time: wooden beamed ceilings, bare brick walls, antiques, heavy locks, wrought iron, tiles, etc. Our hotel is devided thematicaly on three floors reminiscent of Middle Aged Toledo when the city enjoyed the co-existance of the three cultures inhabiting the city at that time: Christian, Jewish and Arabic. Each of the 14 rooms bears the name of one of the ancient craft guilds that flourished in Toledo in the Middle Ages.

An ideal place to stay in Toledo.

Having checked in with this hotel we received excellent instructions re which car park to use and how to get from there to the hotel. Check in was welcoming and friendly and the gentleman (Manolo?) provided maps and local information and recommendations without having to be asked. Similarly, he pointed out details of the WiFi code. Our room was a “comfort double” and it was nicely furnished and very comfortable. It is listed as having a balcony but you should note that these balconies are not of the “sit out and relax” variety and are simply railings with enough ledge room for a few flowerpots. We had breakfast on the top floor, where you can also use the outside terrace. It was a simple affair, but very good, and we enjoyed fresh fruits, juice, yoghurts, and good quality ham and cheese. They also serve cakes but I can’t say that I can get into this cakes at breakfast thing! The hotel is situated right by the Cathedral so is in a perfect position to explore the old city. The staff were all helpful and charming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would certainly stay here again.

Hard to find any negatives!

So I'd stayed in Oasis hostels before, some years ago. And as I'd always had a good experience, this was an obvious choice. The location right in the old city is great. Taxi dropped me a little way away, though people did drive in that street. Alina on reception was super friendly and welcoming. And that is a key part of having a good experience imo. My private room was pleasant and nicely furnished. Decent bathroom. Actually I just thought of a negative. The wall was very thin and not at all soundproof (as everywhere I stayed in Spain, almost.) Earplugs are king, my friends. The roof terrace has spectacular views. There's also a kitchen. Free tea and coffee, I gather. As mentioned, the location is good. Close to everything that might interest you. If you like Mexican food, you MUST visit Piensa en mi. Ay dios mio, those tacos... Possibly the best I've had outside of Mexico. So if you want accommodation with the possibility of social interaction with other guests, this is the spot. Lives up to standard of the Oasis brand.

Cheap and cheerful

Reviewed By 288ritac

Booked day before as thought we'd pop to Toledo on way back to Madrid airport. Bit wary but pleasantly surprised. Clean, welcoming and more than adequate for our brief trip. Room for four was spacious and tidy with full air con and WiFi. Shower was powerful and bathroom clean and fully equipped. Ten minute walk into main area and close to cafes, bars etc ( even a supermarket behind hotel). Definitely recommend this for a cheap and cheerful stop.

Lovely view, lovely staff and overall an enjoyable stay

The receptionist is lovely. The kitchen, rooms and bathrooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was coffee, a selection of teas, toast, cereal and prepackaged muffins. It’s also a good walking distance to everything. There are lockers under the bed, but they are small so don’t rely on them. Overall, it was a relaxed environment and a lovely view.

I stayed here longer than expected because of an injury. The hospitality of the owners was so great that it feld as though I was at home. (they even spoiled me a bit!) The rooms are very clean, as also the bathroom. And they have a livingroom just for the guests. The albergue has a nice garden where you also can cook.

Enjoy the modern Hostal Palacios in the historic center of Toledo. Its location offers to the guests best access to the most popular tourist attractions in the city. Its building, from the 19th century, is considered a World Heritage Site with more than 100 years old. Most of the rooms have a balcony that offers views of the Historic Center of Toledo. Decorated in a typical castilian style, the rooms are very bright, spacious and cozy. The rooms are equipped with double and single beds, an extra table and designer armchair, as well as a TV. Bathroom in each room with mirror.

Good hotel in city centre

Reviewed By Chihiro O

We stayed in Toledo for two nights and we enjoyed our stay at Hostal Palacios. The hotel is well located in the city centre, in the narrows streets of Toledo. After contacting the hotel about a parking spot we were told the hotel had an agreement with the parking lot Miradero and we had a discount on our fare. It was not far away from the hotel and we were advised by the hotel to not drive in Toledo, the streets are way too narrow. The hotel is also a restaurant so don't be surprised to see staff with trays of food going up or down the stairs! We stayed on the first floor, with a little spanish style balcony. The room was spacious and the bathroom was a bit tiny but more than enough for our stay. The staff was very, very nice. The lady at the check in counter was very helpful, giving us a lot of infomation about the city sights. We stayed over the weekend and so, there was a bit of noise at night from people leaving the bars but not to much. Overall, we would recommend this hotel and would stay again if we get the chance to revisit Toledo!

Delightful Dulcinea.

Stayed at Hostal Dulcinea for two nights while in Madrid for the European cup final. Hotel is comfortable and compact and rooms excellent and clean. It's only ten minutes to the town centre where there are bars and places to eat, however you can get something to eat and drink at the hotel. We decided to stay here because of the extortionate prices being charged in Madrid and it was a wise choice only a 30 minute drive to Madrid. The best thing about this hotel is the wonderful owners or managers Conrad and Lourdes who were amazing. Although both spoke little English and our party of 8 spoke little Spanish we managed to communicate amongst each other. They were a wonderful couple and we were sad when we had to depart, if we ever visit Madrid again we know where to stay for a warm friendly welcome and a comfortable room. Muchos gratias from Liverpool.

Nice stay, good value.

Reviewed By frank3355

We stayed here for 2 nights to visit family in the area. We picked this hotel because of the price and the online photos that looked better than other hotels in the area. We were happy with our choice. The property is very clean and comfortable. The bed was good and the air conditioning worked well. The wifi also seemed to work well. The bathroom and shower were good, and the towels decent quality. The owners/staff were very nice and helpful, even giving us some medicine when the wife had a headache and the pharmacy was closed. The one negative that I noticed was that the soap/shampoo provided was just some tiny foil packets of liquid soap...really not usable for hand washing nor showering (seriously, how much would a bar of hotel soap cost, probably no more than the little packets). So overall the value for price paid of 50 euro/ night was well worth it and I recommend this hotel to anyone needing a place to stay in the general area.
