KARIJINI ECO RETREAT - Designed with the environment in mind - the semi-permanent deluxe eco tents, cabins, campground and facilities incorporate eco friendly practices which ensure environmentally sustainable management of the natural and cultural values of one of the most ancient landscapes on earth. A short walk trail leads directly from the campground into Joffre Gorge - stand at the top and you'll find yourself overwhelmed by this powerful creation of nature. Whether you are camping or 'glamping'(glamorous camping)- the retreat offers the perfect solution for travellers seeking to blend a rugged encounter in the pristine Karijini National Park, with the soft creature comforts that are not traditionally associated with camping. An outback style licensed alfresco restaurant adds glamorous flair to a 'gorgeous' day of trekking whilst the sunset slowly merges with an endless blanket of stars that seem to reflect the timelessness of this place.
We completely agree with Merrilyn S. The lack of communication with impending storms was of great concern and we had to rely on other campers to keep us informed. The lack of cleanliness in the facilities was appalling and we never saw them cleaned at all. The drop toilets barely usable. The road in and out was very rutted with deep pot holes which made it difficult with a caravan. It looked as if the road had not been graded in a long time! The overall experience was very disappointing and I would have trouble recommending it in its current state.

Whether you visit for work or leisure, we guarantee your review of WA’s Pilbara region will include the word “unforgettable”. Our holiday park is perfectly located for both remote workers and holidaymakers. Discovery Parks – Port Hedland (formerly Cooke Point Holiday Park) is a great base for outdoor adventures, from off-road driving to coastal walks and endless fishing hot spots. The world's largest bulk tonnage export port is perfect for fishing, crabbing and whale watching. Take a BHP Billiton Iron Ore Tour or a Reef Walk to discover Port Hedland’s rich ecosystem. The unique phenomenon ‘Staircase to the Moon’, when the full moon rises at low tide, is a must-see.
Do not stay here if you avoid it! My room was absolutely crawling with cochroaches. I had a very hard time sleeping as I felt like they were on me at all times and considered sleeping in my car to get through the night. Squashed as many as I could however there are so many cracks in the walls, ceiling, and floor they were continuously coming in. Very frustrating as I had a big drive ahead of me the next day and needed a good nights sleep, which I did not get.

Looking for a true Outback experience? Next stop, Discovery Parks - Pilbara, Karratha (formerly Pilbara Holiday Park). Karratha means 'good country' in the language of the local Indigenous community and you'll be awestruck by the raw, natural treasures of the Pilbara in Australia's North West. The massive gorges, crystal clear rock pools and waterfalls of Karijini National Park are a must-see. Just off the coast, the Dampier Archipelago and Mackerel Islands offer world-class boating, fishing, diving and snorkelling and the seasonal natural phenomenon, Staircase to the Moon, is extraordinary. Our holiday park's excellent accommodation choices are perfect for resting up at the end of a long day.
Discussing re weather.Beeing given no option. to stay.We were not advised re weather forecast and not advised.Been member s for a long time and now considering opting out. It's all about money and not dangerous traveling. Dangerous traveling means nothing to the " business" all about $$$

The food is just like Christmas at Nannas, but you don’t have to see relatives you don’t like and no one has to do the dishes! Highly recommend seafood night a wide selection. Our second visit we will definitely be back Thank you to the team here.

This is a good option for a stay in Karratha. The rooms are generously sized with a very basic kitchenette, lounge and comfortable bed. We had dinner there - and it was pretty good with several hot options to choose from. The staff were super friendly and this is a well run complex with pool, gym, tennis courts and BBQ facilities. It's about 4km from the CBD and good value for money!

We booked a chalet, months in advance. So we were disappointed when contacted a few days before due to arrive to be rung and told they had double-booked and we would have two adjacent hotel rooms., which was not ideal with a young child, but ok. The rooms in the workers accommodation were clean, and neat with a great view. On the downside they were tiny, we could not prepare food and ages away from camp kitchen. Also In a huge complex, on second floor. Ok for singles but not for families - and when we had planned and booked a cabin, not an ideal experience.

Hopefully you get a good neighbour. Walls are thin and floorboards reverberate noise. No after hours service to tame unruly guests who have their TV's on until the early hours of the morning. No noise curfew enforced. I would not recommend.
