The bedrooms are quite basic, but very clean, a comfortable bed and modern bathroom so everything you need. The views are beautiful. It’s in a great location for Ella town centre. Great value for money.

Stunning views
Reviewed By joeldowlandStayed here for 2 nights. Amazing location with stunning views. Short walk into the main bit of the town. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms were big with mosquito nets over the beds. Only negatives were the restaurant was expensive compared with the prices in the town and Sri-Lanka in general and they advertise daily Yoga without giving a price on the boards so it appears that it is free but you get charged 2000 rupees when you check out. Reception say they tell you the price when you check in but I still think they should have the price on the boards where they advertise it.

We are high up here at 1000 meters surrounded by the vast panoramas of the Ella Gap. Karandagolla is slightly lower down than the cooler tea gardens of Badulla giving us a more tropical air and richer variety of exotic plants and fauna. There is much wild country to explore on foot. "Cooking course in our own kitchen" Many and varied excursions can be arranged. The more active may engage with nature by climbing Little Adams Peak or visiting our local organic tea plantation. Alternatively you can just chill out and enjoy the fine food and comfort of the 'Bungalow', sip chilled drinks on the verandah of an evening, stroll in the grounds or slump in a hammock!

The food was delicious and the chef made modifications to suit our taste. portions were generous. The prices of food, beverages and laundry were very reasonable! This place is away from the touristy Ella just the way we wanted it. it was also cool to see the troop of monkeys that regularly visit. Getting to Ella town is easy- they even have their own rickshaw! Would strongly recommend it!

Absolutely amazing hotel
Reviewed By chillswiThis hotel is amazing. The views are breathtaking. The rooms are large and comfortable. Great air conditioning. Great proximity to the town of Ella and places to see. But what’s best is the customer service. The staff is incredible. I have a great example: I accidentally left something in the room that was very important to me. But I didn’t realize I lost it until I left. (I live in America). I contacted the hotel and they found my lost item. And they offered to ship it to me. Luckily my driver in Sri Lanka was about to drive through Ella so I was able to coordinate with this hotel to have my driver pick it up and then he got it to be back in America. This was absolutely amazing. This hotel went above and beyond. I highly recommend this hotel.

You can order breakfast from the special breakfast menu and everything we tried was very tasty. We enjoyed other meals aswell and always had great service with great food. You must meet especially Mr. Ajith who is the heart of this hotel. He had the best stories, trip advices, recommendations and we became good friends with him in four days! Disappointing - Service does not match the view
Reviewed By mpo253We booked this hotel as attracted by the view, and to be honest this did not disappoint. The view was stunning. Unfortunately the service stank from arrival onwards. (Even our Sri Lankan driver was astonished at the hotels attitude.) We asked for a packed breakfast, as had an early start the next day. Was told 'NO', apparently as the bar was open until late nobody would want to get up to do this for us. Eventually they agreed to give us a packed breakfast (banana, biscuits & juice drink) at dinner that evening. Not quite the packed breakfast we had received elsewhere, They asked if we would like dinner and offered us a choice of noodles or chicken curry. Having chosen chicken curry we were surprised to be served a selection of curries for dinner but no chicken curry in sight. The hotel did not seem impressed when we chose to go to into Ella for dinner on the other 2 nights. There were more staff than we had suitcases, they came across as very intimidating. Whilst we appreciate assistance with our luggage this was ridiculous and made us feel quite uncomfortable. This was the only hotel we chose not to tip in. With it's stunning location this could be a fantastic little place, but they seriously need to address their customer service. The hotel also needs some TLC, as several signs of wear and tear.

Cleanest and most beautiful room I've ever booked in Asia, and still it's affordable. The family was such a lovely bunch, who invited us to a family party, to experience their traditions, wonderful experience! Ruwan the owner is a former chef, so the included breakfast was outrageously good and different every morning. I will definitely come back to this place

Calm place with beautiful view
Reviewed By ikstynaVery well placed spot above the city centre (10minutes walk) so its very calm and has an astonishing view. Owner and his family are very kind, helpful and always intersted if you feel comfortable. Rooms were cleaned, especially we recomend to book the room "with best view", you will definitely not regret to spent money for this. Breakfest is served at the roof top so even if you booked other room there will be still great place with view to the mountains for you!

Reviewed By 448ellisFHaving stayed at some nice hotels in Sri Lanka previously (Galle Face, Mount Lavinia, Jetwing Lighthouse), I would genuinely say that this place surpasses them all! It has such a well-thought-out room design with every possible amenity you could ask for. The bathroom is excellent and in the morning there's a nice balcony area to enjoy the breakfast provided, which is also excellent (will never forget how good the welcome drink tasted!) Indika (the host) also happens to be the oracle of Ella, he can get you anywhere in Sri Lanka and knows everything about the local area. I would highly recommend staying here and will be staying here again in the future.
