felt like a halfway house in the middle of Kings Cross
Reviewed By Greggggg123Springfield Lodge looks fantastic from the outside with a bright, white paint job. The rooms are a little dark and dingy and the red carpets felt dirty. Bathrooms were very dated with a ridiculous shower head. Our window looked onto an internal void or the building next door, and we found light streaming into our room when the 'neighbours' switched their lights on. Cost cutting measures are in place, so don't expect your towels to be changed daily or the bed made, or even toiletries replenished. The reason for this is apparently COVID. So the changing of towels increases COVID risks but dirty taps, door handles and elevator buttons won't pass along COVID. Weird logic. Kings Cross and the surrounds have some decent food options but the people on the streets are a little questionable. We got out of Springfield after 2 nights. We can always visit the area to eat and then retreat to the safety of elsewhere. We were walk-ins and the girl on the front desk kept getting the price wrong and then it somehow increased by 20% when we actually arrived to check-in. We were too tired to argue, but it didn't add to the 'experience', and proves that it's safer to stick to branded hotel chains.,

A Great Stay outside the the CBD and in the middle of history
Reviewed By oxospazRoom was good, food was good, beer was good, value was good, and the service was good, too. No complaints at all. Being in the Rocks was a great base of operations for spending time in Sydney. Being in a heritage hotel was a lot of fun.

I’ve stayed in the room in March and then In June with my partner.I confirm that WiFi requires attention since it’s too too poor but I’m glad that while I was here, the management has been working on that issue. That’s true that Reception isn’t 24/7 but this is Boutique Hotel for people who aren’t familiar with term, it doesn’t mean luxury all inclusive Conrad by Hilton hotel that’s why don’t expect room service, 24/7 front desk service, towel swans and etc. In addition, beautiful and friendly ladies at the reception go extra miles to ensure that you feel comfortable and like at home. The room isn’t big but stylish if you’d like more space go for room with balcony and you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea,which you may find at the reception complimentary, early in the morning looking at the Potts Point. Besides, LOCATION, this is the best,the most convenient location in Sydney! You can walk to Opera House,CBD or get the train to Bondi Beach staying away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Also, Potts Point has a soul and you may be bewitched by the spirit of this area. To sum up, don’t hesitate about the hotel, it’s gem of the area and you can definitely enjoy the time here if you don’t expect more than the hotel positioned itself. P.S. Jensen Potts Point, thank you for complimentary snacks each time when we switched the room and thank you, the entire small team for being nice and positive every day.

Reviewed By leod918Stay in Sydney for a few days a mini getaway . Thought we would go for a walk around and thought we would pop into the pub . We were surprised really friendly staff. It still has that old style hotel feel about it which was great . We had something to eat there as well excellent food . It was clean and there TVs so you can watch the footy while you eat . Happy days thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Serving the community for decades, The Erko is a great place to have a good time in Erskineville and is easily the Newtown local. Bagging Time Out Sydney's Best Pub Food Award in 2017, The Erko's menu offers tempting food from the smoker and to go with them are craft beers from local brewers. Get some friends or family and take a spot anywhere from the front bar to watch a game, the grotto for some intimacy, the corp box for privacy or the courtyard for some outdoor air. Everybody's welcome. Come say hi!
No-Fuss Pub Accommodation in an Excellent Location
Reviewed By megk443My two kids and I were visiting Sydney to catch up with friends for a few days and just needed a place to crash in the evenings. I used to be a local so knew the Erko would be the perfect home base for our plans - close to transport, groceries, shopping, cafes, and sushi! The 3/4-person room was spacious and clean, the shared bathrooms in good condition (although you had to run the shower for a good 4min before the hot water kicked in! Once the temperature was good it remained steady but I cringed at the waste of water at the outset), and the shared kitchen had great facilities. Although it was noisy when the pub was open, the sound remained unobtrusively in the background (like someone having a party next door) and disappeared altogether by midnight. We were very happy with our experience overall (my kids really want to come back sometime!) especially relative to the price. The only things I would recommend they improve is to get a hot water system installed closer to the bathrooms and see if they can reserve some customer parking in the council carpark next door - I managed to snag one of the two unrestricted parking spots right outside the door on our second day but it was pretty stressful having to move the car every two hours until then. It would also be great to get provide reverse-cycle aircon and secure wifi but those aren't deal-breakers given that we had enough bedding to stay cozy and the council provides free wifi coverage in the area. If you're just looking for a well situated crash pad while visiting Sydney I highly recommend the Erko. Thanks again for a great stay.

However, my wife & I experienced the following issues: 1. I booked using a Dine & Discover $50 voucher - total price $205 for a queen room. as they take your credit card in advance I found when looking at my statement they had charged me the full price and taken the voucher! I brought it to their attention via email (no reception staff on a Sunday) and was told I was wrong. However, the exact same room the following Saturday was priced at $192. Go figure. I know my wife & I were only looking at cheaper rates or we would not have stayed. We thought $155 out of our pocket was ok. 2. The room was smaller than expected (and I did not expect too much) and did not have an office (or visitor) chair as shown in the photos on their webpage, nor would that type of chair have fitted in the room. 3. The amount of light coming form all the LEDs in the room after lights off are excessively bright - I had to rig up covers over them to sleep. When the lights are off there are LEDs on the light switch, the mirror, the tv, the alarm. A manager needs to see this at night for themselves and then actively dull them down. 4. You cannot have a shower (no door) without flooding the toilet floor.
