The best available Bed and Breakfast Inns to stay near Ocean City

April 20, 2023 Nobuko Falco

In Ocean City, Maryland's only coastal community, the beach is the main attraction. Stroll the three-mile Boardwalk along the seafront while sampling salt water taffy and other old-fashioned treats. The summer season explodes with special concerts, beach bonfires and kids' activities. Nature enthusiasts will love nearby Assateague Island, home to deer and wild ponies. Once a tiny fishing village, it now spans 10 miles, but anglers still flock to the area waters; it's known as the White Marlin Capital of the World.

This place needs a serious remodel and cleaning. Kitchenette was dirty, coffee pot was rusted, bath room, was old and falling apart. The beds were comfy is why I gave 2 stars. Location was good. When I complained about the price we paid foe what we received , the front desk smiled and said : yes we need a remodel.

Atlantic House Bed & Breakfast

Great Option With the Correct Expectations

Reviewed By PibbleCollector

We needed a place to crash for one night. We arrived late, the management had left our keys for us which was nice and convenient. The home is clean and nicely decorated and the bed in Room #3 was very comfy. Our room was also clean other than the area surrounding the window AC. We are a couple that enjoys the BNB experience and have stayed in many. Our expectations may have been too high and the Atlantic fell short in some areas. I believe the Atlantic's positive reviews are resting on the laurels of the previous ownership. It appears the current ownership does not make much of an effort to provide a typical BNB experience. Nobody had thought to make the room comfortable for us upon arrival so it was very hot in the room but we turned on the teeny tiny window AC and the room cooled off. The bathroom in Rm 3 has a tiny shower and the tile grout is badly stained in places which makes it appear dirty. The shower floor is peeling and at the very least there should be a mat put down. No individual toiletries were provided, instead dispensers of low quality shampoo and shower gel were on the wall in the shower. As other reviewers have said, the towels were tiny and the washcloths were mismatched. A towel rack in the bathroom immediately fell off the door. There were no snacks or beverages offered that are the norm with other BNBs. The website boasts of make your own waffles and breakfast casseroles and there were none. We were offered waffles, bacon and eggs and the eggs were not cooked to order. I ordered over hard and they had runny whites and yolks. The waffles were tiny and tasteless. Although no real fault of the owner, there were flies in the breakfast area landing on the food that was not covered which demonstrated a lack of care. The best thing about the Atlantic was it only cost us $95 for the night. If you are looking for a cheap place to lay your head, you'll be pleased. If you are expecting a typical BNB experience, with the thoughtful touches expected at a BNB, you will be greatly disappointed. The Atlantic ownership should consider revising their website to more accurately depict the experience. The Atlantic is a Bed and Breakfast on a technicality.

We stayed in the new building with the indoor pool. It was very nicely updated and clean! Didn’t have the free breakfast or use the pool so can’t comment on that. Awesome location right across from the boardwalk. Staff was nice too. Only weird thing was that the lights are on a sensor. Ours was broken so we couldn’t get the sensor to stop working ugh. Seems like when I moved in bed it would go on! ?

Close to boardwalk, activities & restaurants. Outdoor parks close for kids. Comfy beds no bugs. 2nd fl balcony was nice for sitting. Kitchen is not well equipped. I wiped everything down with clorox wipes. It took 3days for maintenance to bring the remote, leak in the ceiling took a day to respond. They will clean the room if you ask ahead of time. We emptied our own trash, requested additional towels & toilet paper from front desk. Parking is offsite if you have more than 1 car. We were lucky we could park on the street out front for free.
