Chateau Fombrauge

Surrounded by vineyards that stretch out as far as the eye can see, Chateau Fombrauge is organised around a magnificent residence: a long single-storey house reached by crossing a gorgeous French-style garden and a large alley fringed with topiaries. Indoors, on either side of the entrance that welcomes guests with a marble fountain, a succession of rooms is lined up, each rivalling the other in noblesse. The red living room reveals incomparable mastery over shades of vermilion; the large reception room worthy of royal banquets, available for important events, leads directly to the wine storehouse. For smaller gatherings, a Louis XIII-style dining room can hold around ten guests in a sumptuous setting. An adjoining games room will bring joy to lovers of billiards. The guestrooms, all coming with their own bathrooms, seem to come straight from the Sun King’s era : poster beds dressed up with thick padded duvets preside over the rooms between wallpapered walls featuring floral motifs, reflected in golden mirrors hanging over fireplaces. Chateau Fombrauge is a place of authenticity, a place that perpetuates ancestral winemaking traditions, a place rich in history, and a remarkable place of hospitality, whose exceptional quality contributes to the grandeur of France. Feel like medieval lords ; we entrust you the keys of the Chateau !

You own private Chateau

After being led to your room by signs posted specially for us, the chateau was empty, we discovered something you only expect in fairy tales. A real living chateau with all the antique furniture, paintings, music instruments, porcelain. The room was huge and the view from the window was amazing. The entire property is spectacular and the breakfast in the sunny dining room was devine. We certainly will return to this gem.

Good experience on the banks of the Dordogne

Reviewed By AlexTheSailor2019

We booked this having done some research on booking.com and TripAdvisor and thought that it was an informal quaint family establishment. Turns out it was exactly that. Even though we were the only guests at the time, we were welcomed warmly by the owner, who generously offered to cook an amazing dinner for us since all the nearby restaurants were closed. The rooms are tastefully decorated with an eclectic mix of modern and traditional - historical architectural features combined with modern furniture. Breakfast was also good with baguettes, croissants, various jams, orange juice, coffees and yogurts available. The building is also set in the middle of vineyards, with grape vines and the river Dordogne surrounding you. They have a pool and outdoor space as well. (Plus they accept small dogs for a 20€ s charge). They summed their position up on the phone well - ‘en pleine campagne’ - in the middle of the countryside. Overall a good experience.

Perfect!

Perfect booking process. The B&B is located in a central location, so ideal for us as we came to Bordeaux on the train and we'd spent the day wandering around. On arrival, Ahmed was a very welcoming host and showed us to our room 'Hey James'. Whilst, I think, smaller than the other rooms, it was perfect. A huge comfortable bed and opening windows, There was also a coffee machine available to use. But we opted for a drink on the terrace. Lovely! After pre-booking breakfast and a great nights sleep, we ate breakfast on the terrace. Fresh pastries, fresh fruit salad and strawberry topped yogurt as well as local jam and honey and fresh juice, tea or coffee. The best breakfast we could have asked for!
