Really great hotel for the price

Very nice little hotel. Rooms very cool with modern feel. Bed very comfortable, bathroom modern and sleek. Right by the main square in Burgos. There was also a small restaurant/cafe downstairs with good tapas. I would definitely come back if staying in Burgos.

Great location, 1st class rooms, and amenities. I loved the honesty bar. Well isolated windows since you are very close to restaurants. 4-minutes walking from Cathedral. If you really need an elevator, not the place.

Happy Hostal Carrales

Great hostel in Burgos

Reviewed By Patrick S

I stayed in room 202, a double room with its own little balcony. Considering that I'm walking the Camino de Santiago, something this nice doesn't come very often. The bed was super comfy and allowed me to recuperate my energy. The room has its own sink, so I didn't have to wait for the shared bathroom to shave or just brush my teeth. The rooms and the shared bathroom are kept sparkling clean. The hostel is close to a busy intersection, so it can get a bit noisy if your room faces the street. But ear plugs allowed me to sleep well regardless. The wifi works extremely well. Happy Hostal Carrales is located 5 minutes away from a laundromat and supermarket. It's about a 10-minute walk from the cathedral and all other points of interest Burgos has to offer. A bit more expensive than my other Camino digs, but well worth the price in my opinion.

Proof that really bad hotels can be found easily

We stayed in the Campus Tavern for one night in early November 2019. So disappointed it’s not true, the salient facts are the Campus Tavern is not easy to find, and when you finally find it (which I hope for your sake you don’t) the Tavern restaurant is a shell and totally empty, there a sign on the door pointing you to entrance No:2 but you won’t find it! It’s actually on the first floor of a block of flats around the corner! The rooms are clean and acceptable but not worth the £85 we were charged, when you hear the almost continuously scrapping noises along with what could sound like a lift you realise it’s the underground private secure garage doors allowing people in and out, you can’t leave your car there though, you have to leave it on the street in a dubious area. The door noises do stop around 9pm but helpfully start again at 6am so an alarm clock isn’t required. No heating in the morning so very cold. No food, no breakfast available, so Please Please Please give this a Miss!

Refurbished good hostel

Reviewed By Jordi B

The hotel is located in the city centre, just before the start of the pedestrianised area. The receptionist was very kind and helpful, providing us with a map and good recommendations about what to visit, where to eat and what buses go to the train station. We had a room that has been recently refurbished upstairs (the hostel uses two floors in a residential building) and it was clean and comfortable. We had twin beds instead of a double bed but honestly I can't remember whether it was me that made an error in the booking, in any case everything was clean, we didn't have noise, had a comfortable sleep and could easily go around.

Centrally located and convenient but no place for hanging anything

Reviewed By AbejaMaya2014

The room is ok but a bit small, with no place for hanging any clothes and a mini kitchenette which is not really needed in a gastronomic city. There is not even a single hook or hanger. The owners also have a tapas and pinchos bar in front of the hostel, so it is not clear why the mini kitchenette is there. Fortunately we had a room on the backyard side, as the Calle San Lorenzo is one of the most popular places for pinchos bars.

Welcoming Hotel

Reviewed By Ron G

This is located about 2 miles out of Burgos and one had to get an infrequent bus to the Center. Having said that the first thing that impressed us was the helpfulness of the staff. The Cuename also serves as a cafe and local people are using it all the time. We were told how to find the hotel's parking bays in the underground car park and the female employee (who was also serving in the cafe) came down to the car park to make sure we were parked OK. Breakfast was €3 and consisted of a boccadillo and a coffee/tea. Additional of the same could be purchased for a small cost. We went into Burgos by the bus which is fine but they only seemed to run every 1hr 20 mins. The Cuename also has a restaurant but this was closed on a Monday. Instead we were pointed to another restaurant 8 minutes walk away in a hotel but we thought this was pricy.

Comfortable, clean and unassuming. A good value.

Reviewed By izzyPortland

Comfortable, clean and unassuming. A good value. · Nice lady runs the place, it was very clean and comfortable. A good location, right near the Evolution museum. Still an easy walk to the old town across the river, and an easy walk to the bus station. On a commercial street that is busy in daytime, but very quiet at night. · My room was one flight of stairs from the little lobby and cafe and noise from conversations carried right through my closed door, noise from the bathroom adjacent was very loud also. One other issue, I paid and signed, later saw from my receipt that the charge was more than the euro amount on my Booking.com confirmation. Just a few more euro per night, but over three nights it added up. I wish I had caught it when I paid, between language issues and the niceness of the Landlady I let it go. But I will be more on top of it when I pay at my other hotels.
