Most terrible experience ever
Reviewed By 1059539521This is my first time writting a review cause I don’t want more visitors to be bothered by their bad service. Stuff are not friendly at all. Also, when you have breakfast, they watch you like you are prisoners. Even the view was good, this is not a place for you to enjoy your stay.

Great Hotel / Restaurant and (maybe) Cultural center for the town
Reviewed By David FWe checked in early and there was no problem here. The location is ideal in that it sits near the middle of the town of Brienz, close to the trains and lake front. It looks like a classic Swiss or Austrian "Zimmer". There was parking across the street and behind the facility. The owners were cordial and proper and showed us to our room which was amazing. Spacious, organized, tidy, clean (with clean lines) and VERY roomy. Everything is wood and the balcony (also spacious) was amazing. The roof covering the balcony is at an angle such that you can't see the entire view to the lake unless sitting down but then again the sun was out and very strong so this was OK. The bed and furniture was very comfortable. The next morning we ate a sumptuous served breakfast and maybe due to the low season there was another couple in the gorgeous dining room. The dining room also serves as the local bingo hall (called "lotto") which I discovered the previous night much to my surprise. All and all this was a fabulous hotel, centrally located, near public transport and the lake front. The facility was clean and VERY comfortable. The owners did not speak much English but we managed in broken German and English. This place was excellent.

Reviewed By PaminmassMy Swiss grandfather used to take us to this beautiful little Tea Room in Brienz. Still as wonderful as I remembered it from years and years ago! Awesome views of Lake Brienz, charming, sleepy little town-make sure to take the old route to Brienz, if you take the relatively new tunnel on the other side of the lake, you'll miss this beautiful town and all the sights of this Swiss dream town. Lunch was delicious, served piping hot and fresh. They have a bakery inside the restaurant, don't miss sampling something!

Le camere sono spartane ma molto carine, considerando i prezzi in zona è stato davvero un'ottima occasione. Purtroppo siamo arrivati tardi quindi non abbiamo potuto cenare in nessuno dei ristoranti presenti, ma abbiamo utilizzato la cucina a disposizione. Tutto molto pulito, internet gratuito e proprietario molto gentile e disponibile.

Rather overpriced when sleeping under a railway bridge
Reviewed By boxfish70I had booked a room ensuite, however, we got a room with shared bath room on the back of the hotel, just under neath the railway bridge, which was very noisy. We had to leave the window closed during the night because of this. When we wanted to open the window in the morning, we got the cigarette smoke from a neighbour. It was no problem, to have not the view to the lake, we had it during our excellent dinner and good breakfast buffet. We ha been aware, that the hotel was separated from the lake by a room, this was mentioned. From the railway station we walked about 15 Min along the lake/road.

Reviewed By Gordon SWe arrived fairly late having decided to stop off on the way and take the paddle steamer across the lake. Having paid for a double room was delighted to be told that we had been upgraded to our own chalet, which had a large balcony, Living Room, well equiped Kitchen, Bathroom & Two Bedrooms. We had uninterupted views of the lake and mountains beyond and spent a few evenings with a glass of wine on the balcony just taking in the view. Each morning we joined Irene & Marcel for breakfast which was delicous and it has to be said they were perfect hosts. The Hotel is but a short walk from the town and is a perfect base to explore the area. All in all we had a wonderful stay. Irene / Marcel.. Thank You

The staff is very gentle, the beds really comfy and the croissants in the morning some of the best I've tasted in Switzerland! The whole hotel is themed about board games, as the owner is a game-creator himself. Superb. Besides, you can walk everywhere from it. The restaurant has a splendid staff either, they even spoke in Spanish to me! :D And the food is really tasty with generous portions. I do recommend this place to stay if you want to spend a good time in Brienz.
