The Real Deal

Reviewed By Susan0368

10 members of my family enjoyed a wonderful time at the pink shell resort in May. The staff is awesome and the atmosphere is fun and upbeat. Very clean and a full service resort. We enjoyed the beach service and experienced all the restaurants. Food was good. We enjoyed the pool and the corn hole game! I don’t wanna forget to mention the room attendants did such an awesome job cleaning and replacing the towels… could not be happier with that.Last but not least….Ranger Rob was Awesome!! We enjoyed visiting with him at the game table. Loved asking him questions about animals and getting his insight on them. He was definitely a highlight of our vacation. We were getting ready to take a walk around the end of the island and he was headed to the beach to clean so we walked together and he picked up any trash that was on the beach… he loves nature and keeping things as they should be. My daughter-in-law and I went on the kayak tour with him in the bay and it was so enjoyable! He’s just laid-back, super knowledgeable and has such a passion for all the animals. I highly recommend doing this tour with him. Also, would love to mention that my husband, son and son-in-law went on a fishing trip with a captain named Fabian Guerrero from Fort Myers. And they had the fishing trip of a lifetime! They reeled in several Tarpon and one was 140 pounds! So I highly recommend this guy as well. I definitely loved staying at the pink shell resort! We will be back!

Great stay, but some attention needed to rooms

Reviewed By JupiterVictoria

We had a great time. The staff is wonderful, you can’t beat the beach access, the landscaping is lovely, bikes were always available, as were beach umbrellas and chairs, and the breakfast was plentiful- there was a lot more on offer than I expected. I struggled with whether to do three or four stars but we did have an awesome time so 4 it is. But I have to say the room is absurdly overpriced considering some of the overlooked issues. To a certain degree you pay for the access to the beach, yes. That won’t change so plan to pony up some. But beyond that this place needs some attention to warrant the $580 per night price tag for the gulf view suite. There actually is a lot of old Florida charm here I wouldn’t change- the screened in porches, the floor tile, the older tropical furniture. I’ll give them credit for an updated kitchenette, new sofa, and even bathroom. But there are things that are unacceptable for the current price tag that would not take much to deal with. Previous guests’ garbage behind the patio (how does that even go unnoticed?). Janky patio door that doesn’t slide smoothly. Grimey buildup around the bathroom sink faucets. Damage/grime to walls/baseboards/ceilings. Damaged, grimey front door. Water damaged shutters (spring for the composite for Pete’s sake!). Stained, cigarette-burned patio cushions. Some beach chairs need replacing. My advice: take care of these repairs, rip out that carpet in the sitting area and put in some dark wood-look vinyl floor. Get some new patio cushions. Paying more attention to deep cleaning from time to time, fixing the damage, some new white composite shutters, and a few fresh decor items to spruce things up wouldn’t even require a complete rehaul but would make all the difference in justifying the price of this room.

Uninterested Staff

Disappointing.

Perfect Babymoon Spot!

Reviewed By KW252

My husband and I spent a long weekend at the Sarasota Ritz to celebrate our "baby moon" before our first child arrives. The hotel itself is located in downtown Sarasota and is currently (Spring '22) surrounded by quite a bit of construction. However, the hotel is beautiful and has a great bar, restaurant, and pool attached. The service at the pool was lovely and it was tiny and quiet enough to enjoy a slow day. We spent two of our days at the private beach club and used the free shuttle which was very convenient. The beach club has a restaurant, pool (lots of kids, get there early if you want a good seat!), small grab and go cafe, and tons of beach lounges/cabanas/umbrellas. There was also a great little tiki bar/food spot on the beach that we enjoyed. The free shuttle will also take you to St. Armands Circle. This is a great collection of spots to eat and shop. We didn't need to use Uber for the entire weekend (other than to head back to the airport) thanks to the free shuttles! A great weekend getaway for a couple or family!

Beautiful Views | Confusing trek to the beach

Reviewed By susieriis

We had a great stay! This resort does not provide any services other than the pool, beach, jacuzzi. You must be prepared to bring coffee, supplies, etc. for in room prep. I am not used to that. If you don't come prepared, you have to travel off site for morning coffee. Our room had a Keurig, I do not know if that's the norm. Vacuuming started outside our unit at 8am on a Sunday morning. That is way too early and the resort should rethink that practice. Some of the elevator button lights don't work and we didn't know if the elevator was coming or not. The garage elevator was VERY slow. Front desk staff were not very welcoming/friendly and were not provided with a map of the resort - how to get around to the pool. Confusing layout. Once we did, the beach was glorious! The chairs/umbrellas are at a cost ($25 / day). For the price, we would stay again.
