The 9 best Villas in Nepal, Nepal

May 3, 2023 Yuk Petri

The near otherworldly Himalayan kingdom of Nepal can trace its history back to the 7th century and the arrival of Kirati sheepherders. Today, misty temples perch on rugged ridges, monasteries peer over deep valleys, faded by centuries, and Kathmandu's Old City brims with ancient Buddhist temples and ornate palaces.

Machan offers a variety of activities allowing you to discover both the wildlife and the way of life of the Tharu Villagers. Our recommended duration of stay is 2 nights 3 days in order for you to get the most out of what we offer. At Machan, a team of expert naturalists has been formed under the leadership of Dr. Charles Ramble, an anthropologist and naturalist with wide experience of Nepal. They will share their knowledge of the jungle’s flora and fauna as they guide you on elephant back and in Land Rovers, on nature walks and bird-watching excursions. Visitors at Machan can take part in various exhilarating activities.

Amazing Experience

Spent 2 wonderful nights here in The Kingfisher Lodge. The lodge itself was well equipped with a porch to listen to the bird song. Truly lovely. Due to covid the country is still recovering the staff outnumbered the clients which was excellent for us and they were so attentive. The meals were substantial and back to nature. The safari was wonderful where we saw rhinos and plenty of deer but unfortunately not tigers. The driver and guide were excellent showering us with knowledge of the park. We then we were invited to visit the lake with our guide to take a sundowner which was great fun and much appreciated. In the evening we were invited to observe and participate with the local ladies whilst they conducted their stick dance which we thoroughly enjoyed whilst munching on popcorn. Thank You all. We wish you much success for the future Whendie and Steve .

Nice family hotel. All the confort, big rooms, good bed, clean, nice view, unlimited real hot shower. Breakfast in bed possible. Really appreciable after the trek. And the staff is adorable, very friendly. They helped us for everything and managed to get us good deals for trek, taxis and so on. Food there is expensive though compare to other restaurant in the city and the laundry is not free. We didn’t know it so be aware. Be sure to speak in Nepalese roupies and not Indians roupies with them, to avoid any bad surprise as we might have had. Otherwise very good quality for the price and very good location. You can totally go for it.

I don't like to give bad reviews, because I know the impact on the business, but this experience has been really disgusting and really horrible. The place is amazing, quiet at night and with an amazing rooftop. Our appartment at first was super nice and clean. We rented it for almost two weeks and if we want to check before the official date we will lose the money, because you pay BEFORE and not at the check out. The thing is that 3 day all went from bad to worst to really disgusting place even if we kill them, or tried to be suuuuper extremely clean (they don't provide clean service), the amount of cockroaches that were, was mindblowing. It affected at our mood, our couple intimacy, all..we couldnt use the kitchen because there were all over the place, in the chairs, next to the water...everything. The photos are real, because I took them to show it to the host. we had to sleep with lights on. The most incredible thing is that we talked about this before we rent and he told us that there was not going to have any problem at all and we trusted him. His managing of the situation was shameful, he was making excuses like..''I can believe this, this has never happened, you can ask your neighbours, I am sorry''. Its like, man I really don't care about any other people, we do have a problem here and is affecting us so...do something. The most he did was putting heavy insecticide and say to us ''we will see what happens''. A lot of them showed up, it was disgusting at all levels.

Dishonesty

Extremely difficult to get to as the road leading to the Villa is unpaved, this private estate affords 360-degree views (Mt Everest in the distance) and truly deserves a 4.5 stars if it wasn't for the money-hungry manager. After arriving at the Villa, we learnt from our two taxi drivers that the manager had "invited" them to stay as there wasn't any accommodation nearby. That night, it rained heavily and dinner couldn't be brought to the Villa so we all walked to the manager's little farmhouse where we had vegetarian food under candlelight. We checked if the drivers were ok and they said everything was fine. The next morning, after a lovely breakfast of bread and homemade jam, we went to the farmhouse to buy chutney as souvenirs. Our drivers were getting ready as we stayed for just one night and were about to depart soon. Just as we grabbed our luggage, the manager demanded that we paid for the drivers' accommodation. We didn't have the time and energy to argue so we gave him about USD30, not a lot of money, but this dishonesty totally ruined our experience. Once we got into our taxis, the drivers were shocked that we had to pay anything to the manager whom they initially perceived to be very kind and hospitable. I only wish the management of this property (presumably Singaporean) would take serious actions with regard to this "corruption". We didn't mind that the Villa had no hot water or television, but this attitude really put us off. We would never go back or recommend anyone going to Apa Villa Phulbari.

Super hotel in Pokhara

Reviewed By Renske D
