The 8 best Specialty lodgings in Manila, Philippines

May 11, 2023 Weston Hennigan

Metropolitan Manila encompasses six cities and 12 towns. Located on Manila Bay in the South China Sea, and bisected by the Pasig River, the capital of the Philippines is historic and modern, rich and poor. A popular sight is the walled area called Intramuros. The capital during Spanish colonization, Intramuros has retained old dungeons and gunpowder rooms but added art galleries and theaters. The city is filled with museums, shops, parks and churches, plus enough nightlife to last until dawn.

Very Unclean

Reviewed By Jessicadomingo

I dont mind if its a small cheap hotel as long as it is clean and maintained. When we arrived, apparently somebody has occupied the originally booked room so we were placed in another. We were glad to know that we could check-in early but we did not know that this would move our check-out time too. We were charged an extra 200 pesos for an extra hour The floor, cabinets were dirty. There were candies and unused condoms left by the previous occupant. Cabinets had gift wrap as protector. Definitely out of style. Curtain was left partially open because of lack of curtain pins. There was no shower curtain as well so everything was wet after a shower. They had the basics like towels, tissue, shampoo and soap. They had a dipper and pail. Shower was not user friendly. There were so many handles, we didn't know how to open it at first. The water flow was even erratic (sometimes too strong and sometimes weak stream). The bathroom window was just covered by a calendar. There was only 1 socket available for charging and was located behind the end table. However, when we moved the table, there was so much dust, it was obvious that hidden parts of the room weren't cleaned for a long time. Even a staff member accidentally entered the room. I think she was about to use the room's toilet because she wanted to pee only to realize it was occupied. You can't choose your breakfast. They give you what they have. Cereals and coffee are available without limit. The staff were friendly but the quality of their work needs improvement.

Bad experience

Reviewed By awaterr

Bad experience, mainly caused by one of the employees (younger woman). She charged us double for the extention night. 1500 pesos instead of 750 pesos. Plus she had an arrogant attitude, and not helpful with questions during our stay. We would strongly recommend to look somewhere else for a place to stay.

We didn't got the service that we've paid... It was around 1,600++ per night... Then we asked the hotel staff to change the bed linens and clean the comfort room. No telephone in each room. So if you want to ask something you have to go through ground floor for customer service. The other guard was rude. Though the breakfast was free included 2 small sausage, egg and white rice.

Clean rooms, strong wifi, but that's just about it..

Reviewed By chema950

The rooms are clean, and has a strong wifi. but the downside is, the hallway is so noisy. staffs are constantly talking and walking up and about speaking loudly and sometimes there are staff who are using a scandalously noisy two way radio that is loudly heard inside the room. cannot rest and sleep well. as far as i know, SILENCE should be observed AT ALL TIMES in the corridors and hallways. that's the most basic rule in every hotel even if its a budget hotel.. if you have to speak, speak in a soft voice. but apparently the staffs are not aware of it or just do not observe it. as if they think they are in a marketplace or in a sports event. the sound in the other room especially the TV can also be heard in my room. the walls are made of thin wood. i think the walls should be made more sound proof at least to minimize the noise outside and from the other rooms. this is ok for short time stay if you're going to do anything other than sleep and rest, if you know what i mean. i think this hotel is made for that purpose anyway. but if you want to have a relaxing stay say 8 hours or more, and looking for a good rest and sleep, you will be disappointed.

Comfortable night

Reviewed By saf7670

I hadn’t expected to be staying here, but my original Agoda booking with another hotel was cancelled at last minute. This left me in Pasay, at 5pm and due to attend a show at 19 East at 8pm with no accommodation for the night. So as I travelled to Parañaque in the cab I made a last minute search online and booked Red Doorz. The reception desk is on the 2nd floor, accessible by elevator. Check in was quick and within 30 minutes of making the booking I was in my room on the 4th floor. Room was large with 2 separate bedrooms and full kitchen facilities, and comfortable seating area. I made the show and staggered back in the early hours of the morning, to find security at the entrance. Would I stay here again ? YES definitely I am glad I found this place. One of the best budget hotels I have ever stayed in.
