Cabin In The Woods

Reviewed By fuguseppuku

Growing up in a city my entire life, Stewarts Bay Lodge to me is a great getaway. I believe most accommodations are singular cabins just varying in size. The cabin we got was perfect as it had a verenda that overlooked a lake that was part of the compound. The cabin was also surrounded by trees so privacy is more or less guaranteed. The cabin was spacious with a large washroom, large bedroom and large living/dining room. The bedroom and living room are carpeted so your feet remain warm when it gets chilly. The only thing that was a downside to me was the rest of the floor space was layered with a vinyl flooring which would squeak no matter how quietly I tried to tread. The compound of SBL is relatively large as well and we were able to walk down to the lake to have a look. The lake has a shallow sandy bank which lets you walk right up to the water's edge and there's even a small little pier where we saw someone trying his luck at fishing. The restaurant was decent although I would say the food is a tad pricey but I've come to realise that restaurants attached to hotels are generally serving pricey food and if you're lucky, it'll be delicious. I had the wallaby steak which came on a bed of barley. Overall the both the steak and barely were a bit tough and chewy but taste wise was lovely. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Great location but........

Reviewed By TheKellysonTour

There is no doubt the location of this motel and the price are both excellent. I knew the rooms were going to be a little tired and I'm okay with that so long as they are clean. Unfortunately we found the bathroom wasn't properly cleaned, hairs in the sink and on the taps, in the shower as well as a dead wasp on the shower floor. I will say that the linen on the beds and the towels were very good quality and both were very clean. We ate at the restaurant and although the service started off a little slow things got moving and the food was very nice. We had drinks in the bar after dinner and thought the young lady with the red hair behind the bar was extremely friendly and gave great service. We thought this motel was just ok, price was good but probably wouldn't stay again.

Very poor.

Reviewed By ossiebruce

Very poor. Don’t plan on eating and drinking in-house because , despite the advertised services, the restaurant, bar and bottle shop aren’t open. Notice on the door of reception directs you to call a number where you’re told you room and key safe number. Totally unexpected sent us scrambling for a restaurant booking and beer at the last moment. Was advised through the phone call that dinner options were available in the room but only found the menu for the non-existent restaurant. Sower runs hot and cold randomly and the toilet doesn’t flush properly.

Fantastic accommodation

Deb provides everything you could possibly need, the biggest bar fridge selection I’ve ever seen. The units are very well equipped, honestly everything you need is in the units. Beds are very comfortable, Deb goes above and beyond to help, reserved me 2 dozen oysters at the local IGA and texted me to say she had done so. You also get a key to the back gate into Port Arthur historical grounds very special treat. You won’t go wrong staying here.

Wonderful b&b close to Port Arthur Historic Site

We spent 3 nights at Sea Change Safety Cove in the 2br unit. We were welcomed with fresh flowers from the garden, home baked goodies and a bottle of local wine. The setting is stunning, with a beautiful garden, and outlook over the bay and private access path to the beach. The hosts Rex and Sue provide many little extra touches for guests’ comfort. Everything was comfy and warm.

Explorers Port Arthur Bed & Breakfast

Getaway to Tasmania.

Reviewed By Dianne M

My husband & I spent a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Explorers. It was located right next door to Port Arthur Historical Site. The owner/operator Steve, was very welcoming and knew a lot of all the attractions of the local area and places to eat etc. The accomodation has a shared bathroom, that wasn't a problem as my Husband & I were the only guests there at the time so we had complete run of the venue. Very clean, warm and inviting. Would thoroughly recommend.
