Reviewed By Ben IExtremely boring room. Parking is a mess as most places are taken by the hotel staff. Dinner is the worst I have eaten, don't try to get something else. They only serve one dish. The only positive thing during our stay was an excellent breakfast.

The location of Bergsjostolen is an excellent starting point for the pleasures of nature both summer and winter. Right outside the doorstep you will find several kilometers of walking paths, good roads for cycling, fish waters, possibilities for paddling and plenty other summer activities. During the winter this area is excellent for cross-country skiing, walking with snowshoes, ski kiting and ski sailing - and the distance to several good ski centres are within a short drive. And all this is to be found in a fantastic mountain terrain.
A Hidden Culinary Gem
Reviewed By lila5We just had the perfect family holiday at this hidden gem. We have family friends with a cabin in the area. As we are an extended family of 10, their cabin is not big enough to accommodate all of us. So, my parents stayed with our friends and they arranged for the rest of us to stay in the nearby lodge. We had rooms 210-213. It was the perfect arrangement for our two families, with children ranging from 9-14. The views are beyond amazing. The rooms are warm and cozy. Of course the rooms and bathrooms are a little small by American standards, but keep in mind that we are in the mountains of Norway and not the Ritz in Aspen. The important part to me is that the beds are comfortable and clean, which they are. The lodge felt like what we used to enjoy at family run ski lodges 20-30 years ago in America. It is perfectly situated with loads of easy hiking trails around the lake and in the hills. They also have a pool table, ping pong table, mountain bikes and canoes. The kids had plenty to keep them busy. Most importantly, the proprietor is also a culinary genius! We had local lamb our first night that was by far the best I have ever had. The second night, we had local brown trout. In both cases, every plate was cleared. Even my picky 9 year old daughter ate it all! Amazing!!! Aside from my picky daughter, the rest of my family takes food very seriously. We regularly cook out of the French Laundry, Fat Duck and Inn At Little Washington cookbooks. We also try to eat at Michelin starred restaurants nearly every time we go on vacation, even planning vacations around restaurant opportunities. This is not just a place to go hike or cross country ski, it should be a destination for foodies in search of the next amazing meal!

Liapark has now completed the construction of six cottages for rental in the municipality of Ål, Norway. The cottages are located near the Liatoppen ski-arena. The cottages vary from 25 - 116 squaremeters, and have a capacity of 4 - 14 persons, depending on the cottage. In total, we can offer accomodation for up to 97 persons. The cottages have high standards, and are built with cooperation from one of the best contractors in this field in Norway. In addition to the cottages, we have also built a service center that will offer ski-storage, saunas and other facilities. Our cottages are ideal for recreational holidays both summer and winter, as well as for training camps for cross - country and biathlon teams. Nice cabin with great Cross Country tracks
Reviewed By TomFarhiasThis has opened 3 years ago, therefore the cabins are new. We stayed in one with 12 places to sleep. Fortunately we were only 5 as the cabin has only 1 small toilet/bathroom. I cannot imagine how 10 or 12 people could live here with only one toilet/bathroom. Same thing with the dining table, it can only accommodate 6 people. The view is astonishing. There is a skicenter nearby with several tracks for cross country and a biathlon stadium. The access is quite tricky as you have to drive for 6 km in very steep road. If you are coming in the winter you really need strong winter tyres. It is a nice place, but be aware of the comments above.

For almost 50 years Liatoppen Fjellstue has been recognised for good Norwegian food, friendly relaxing atmosphere and excellent service. Tv-room and room with an open fireplace in Halling style, dining room and ballroom. In the basement, they have saunas, tv-room and activity room. They offer activities like pool, ping pong and air hockey. Liatoppen is the only mountain lodge in Norway that offers Shuffleboard - an exciting activity for all ages both out- and indoors. For meetings and conferences, you find equipment like a whiteboard, projector and silver screen for your disposal. Liatoppen Ski centre is the closest neighbour, so you find kilometres of prepared tracks right outside your doorstep. During summer you can enjoy hikes and roads in the area. Fantastic high mountain area with summer pasture farms and great hikes just a short drive away.
Far from main road, but a must-see for a few days!
Reviewed By maylindasGo here for a relaxing atmosphere, with good typical norwegian breakfast(scrambled eggs, bacon, whole grain bread, cheese, jam etc..), tasty coffee and helpful, friendly staff. The view to the mountains is beautiful and calming, and the common areas are clean and comfortable. The rooms have an ok standard, "queen bed" is two beds put together. Wish the bathroom was cleaner and in better shape. The whole place is quite simple, but perfect for a 3nights stay. We enjoyed free bike rental using booking.com. Free sauna and work out room, plus games, pool game etc. - If you are vegan, talk with the place before arriving to see what they can offer. I brought my own breakfast because the only thing they had was jam and peanut butter for breakfast. There is a Kiwi store in Ål, and Kiwi usually have a lot of vegan cheese and stuff you can bring. They stored it in the fridge and was super helpful!❤ - The place is up on a hill, with winding roads, takes about 10-15min to get up. Would definitely recommend to stay here for 2-3nights!!

Reviewed By AashildE4The location is awesome with excellent skiing tracks for different ages and skills. Good room standard, and friendly staff. Unfortunately the dinner does not match the positive assets: Rather tasteless meat, potatoes and carrots - must have been frozen or semi-finished products. Two days the soup looked the same, like a brown wheat flour sauce with some vegetables chopped and dropped into it. Investing in a professional cook, would transform this hotel to e gem!

The warmth of the welcome and friendly atmosphere was beyond all expectations. I have never experienced such a wonderful atmosphere.
