The 8 best Bed and Breakfast Inns in Long Beach, United States

April 19, 2023 Randal Brittian

For some, a tour of the Queen Mary, docked here since its retirement in 1967, evokes waves of nostalgia for the days of the huge ocean liner with its opulent rooms, 1930s deco décor and teakwood decks. Others, particularly the younger set, are entranced by the spine-tingling haunted ship stories on the nighttime ghost tour. But for everyone, a visit to this floating hotel and museum is a must on any trip to Long Beach. At one time a less-than-appealing place to visit, Long Beach has transformed itself into an upscale tourist resort, with many waterfront attractions, including a new, state-of-the-art aquarium with a fabulous shark exhibit, two excellent art museums, charming shops, public golf courses, the annual April Grand Prix international auto race and lots of recreational activities along its eight-mile stretch of beach. Take the kids to the waterfront entertainment complex with rides and live performances or to the farming demonstrations at Rancho Los Alamitos. Feeling romantic? Cruise the canals of Naples (that's right, Naples Island in Long Beach) in a genuine Venetian gondola. One thing is for sure: tensions and stresses dissolve in this laid-back, friendly city.

Room was average size, relatively clean. Said Non-Smoking, but you could smell that it was a smoking room some time ago. They charge 5$ Cash Deposit at checkin which you get back with checkout. Quite Thin walls. You could hear a lot of your neighbours activities (Incl. fighting!) Area is ok-ish, a good 15-30 min. drive to the Beach.

It was pretty nice

Reviewed By rachelmperry

Based on what we paid for it, it was pretty nice. There wasn't a lot of parking. But we always had a place to park. The room did smell a little like smoke, but I just sprayed some perfume and it went away. We were in room 3 and we could hear the cars on the road a little. But it wasn't a big deal cause we had the air conditioner on while we slept. The owners were nice. They replaced the sheets and towels every other day which was very nice. And it is in a very good and safe location. The only things I didn't like was people kept setting off fireworks which sounded like gun shots..(but you could tell they were fireworks by the defusing sound) but we did stay 4th of July weekend.. So any other weekend, that probably wouldn't happen. And the bathroom door didn't shut all the way cause the knobs were like duck taped on. But it was a decent place and in a safe location.

My wife and I both liked this place. But be warned, it’s not for everybody. This review will explain why this place, overall, has low ratings. First of all, the good things: this place was clean. The bed linens were changed every night we were there. The maid service is wonderful. The A/C worked perfectly well and was not too noisy. The TV was great too. No problems with the stations or the remote. The place does look like it SHOULD be unclean. You can tell that there is no rhyme or reason to the decor. In fact, there is NO decor. Picture asking a 10 year old to patch a hole in the wall and then repaint it. And then you notice that the paint doesn’t match. Come to think of it, neither do the floor tiles. That’s EXACTLY what it looks like there. You don’t stay here if you are high maintenance or to impress people. But if you want a clean place to stay, then the Travel Eagle Inn Motel is perfect. We plan to stay there again.

The good news: Bed size - king Free parking Walkable to the beach and downtown Smelt of chlorine - we hope this meant a deep clean during Covid times. For Long Beach on a Saturday, the price was competitive at $100. The bad news: Extremely noisy - constant traffic, neighbours playing thumping bass until 3am, people screaming and fighting outside at 5am Bed extremely dirty: stains on the sheets including fresh mascara, the beige blanket was COVERED in black hairs. Pillows were stained Hairs on the bedside table. The average: Fridge very noisy - unplug it. Overall, we can’t recommend the Beach Inn Motel. The bed was disgusting to be honest. Worst we’ve ever seen.

This place should be closed ASAP!

This was by far the most horrible motel I’ve seen in my life. Everything was broken, dirty, the smell was unbearable. The walls and ceiling were covered with dead bugs, the paint was chipping off. The bed was dirty. The worst is the management, rude and absolutely not ready to take responsibility. I think that they just decided to cash as much as they can without any investment. This place should not exist.
