Terrific Property

I stayed for a week last month and had a wonderful stay. The grounds and house are beautiful, location was perfect for me as I love the walk to Main Beach along Ocean Avenue and this is the closest B & B to Main Beach (about a mile walk which I do not mind as its one of the most beautiful walks to a beach in the U.S. ) Jenny and her staff are friendly, attentive and made my stay like a home away from home. I felt like one of the family! The house is well appointed with spacious living rooms, studies for relaxing, working or enjoying a glass of wine after the beach and an honor system bar which I appreciate (they are counting on the trustworthiness of their guests). What hotel would ever allow you to serve yourself at the bar and without some form of payment? The room was plenty for me and the decor was lovely with a beach theme. Entire property is immaculate, spotless clean. Breakfast everyday was exellent and Jenny makes sure there is something for everyone. Yogurt, fresh fruit, wonderful berries, smoked salmon, bagels, pastry and a choice of one of Jenny's delicious entrees. The casserole of eggs caprisse was delicious. Overall, a great stay and sad to leave. Will be back very soon. I love East Hampton and have been coming out for 20+ years. All my best to Jenny and staff and Love to EH!

The entire staff, Kenny, Dawn, Kellie. And Nicole couldn't do enough for us. We felt treasured and cossetted. Very sad we only had two nights, but hope to get back soon. Delightful place.

The 1770 House

A charming, three-story house bordered by a white picket fence embodies traditional Colonial appeal. Built in the mid 1600's, some original architecture remains, especially in the lounge, with its beautiful wood paneling and ceiling beams.Rooms vary in size and each has a sitting area, some have a fireplace. The 1770 House has two fine restaurants. The Tavern, a favorite for Hamptons locals, has a tiny bar, fireplace, famous meatloaf and other casual fare. The main dining room is more elegant and sophisticated, serving a contemporary American menu with a Wine Spectator award winning wine list.

Romantic Inn Perfectly Situated in East Hampton

Reviewed By Michael G

The 1770 Inn & Restaurant offered us a romantic getaway in the heart of East Hampton, where the respectful, courteous, and friendly staff, especially Michael and Ferquan, treated us exceptionally well. Our room (#3) was not overtly roomy, but served its purpose for the weekend, with our only complaint being there was an electrical issue in our bathroom that was not addressed during our stay and forced us to alter the way were prepared for the day and evening. The complimentary breakfast in the main dining room offered us a convenient and tasty way to start the day, while dinner satisfied our desire for a dining experience in a romantic setting, with soft music, candlelight, a gas fire place, which oddly was not turned, and very good food. Be prepared to pay the East Hampton premium, but in our opinion, the experience justified the cost. FYI, the 1770 House has a tavern in the basement, which we did not advantage, and a well-designed, flower-filled sitting area in the backyard that was closed due to cold weather.

The Baker House 1650

East Hampton Village's charming Baker House 1650 is regarded by critics and guests alike as the most exclusive and luxurious bed and breakfast in the Hamptons. From the ivy covered walls to the 200 year old wisteria and formal English gardens, the feel is distinctly European. Less expected are state of the art amenities such as flat screen high definition TV's with full cable and DVD players, Bose wave music systems with iPod docks and free wireless internet. The large, beautifully furnished rooms with wood burning fireplaces, William Morris wallpapers, and Frette linens delight visitors, and the lavish bathrooms are enhanced by whirlpools and L'Occitane products. The outdoor infinity-edge pool, with teak chaises for sunbathing, is ideal for unwinding, and the Baker Spa, featuring an endless pool, massage area, steam shower, Jacuzzi and sauna, provides unparalleled relaxation. In the summer, guests receive coveted East Hampton Village beach parking passes, as well as plush beach towels, umbrellas and chairs. The Baker Carriage House, located directly behind the main house, offers even more luxurious accommodations and suites, making it a purely indulgent retreat. The Baker House 1650 is ideally located on the historic village green, within walking distance to the ocean, as well as world-class shopping and restaurants.

Cute B&B in the Hamptons

Reviewed By Janice D

My husband and I stayed here for his 50th birthday on November 11th. It is a charming B&B with good service and an excellent breakfast. I had "toads in a hole", which was eggs in fresh sourdough bread with cheddar cheese melted on top and a side of avocado. My husband got the croissant french toast stuffed with ligonberry and poppy cream cheese. We also got bacon and fresh fruit on the side. The spa is very nice. The steam room is sooo hot and the pool is hot enough and relaxing. I was disappointed by the dry sauna. I really wanted it to be hotter. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't make it very hot. You can rent the spa for $75/hour and it's just you and your honey. Also, there's the most gentle dog named Bogie (blond labrador?) who very gently greets guests. I enjoyed myself at this spa and would come back just for the breakfast!

EHP Resort & Marina

If you want to literally be stuck in your room, come here!

Reviewed By 703deenap

We were looking for someplace to go for a girls weekend that was different from Gurneys. When we stumbled across EHP we thought we had found something great as the description of the 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage sounded perfect. It’s a new hotel so we figured that was why we had never heard of it before. Upon arrival we were struck by how lovey the location was. You can walk along the marina, the cottages are all tucked away off the road- it all looks great. However, that’s where the good part ended. The only way to describe check-in is “odd.” The person working the front desk barely said 2 words to us except to hand us a map. The property is not so large that you would need a map. Then we went to the cottage- clearly the big renovation they did at this property, was on the surface only. Everything is freshly painted, but I guess they didn’t let the paint dry. All the doors and cabinets were stuck. You had to really tug and pull to get anything to open or close. In fact, our last morning, we could not get the front door open at all and one of us literally climbed out the window to fix the situation. The rugs were in odd areas that prevented the doors from fully opening- that is, when they weren’t stuck shut. The downstairs bedroom had no closet, no extra pillows or blankets and no extra toilet paper. Clearly zero thought was put into the function of these rooms. Housekeeping had left the last guests dirty towels hanging on hooks. We called the front desk and she was dumb founded as to how to help us. She eventually came to replace the towels herself and we asked her another question and she yelled at us to consult our map. The next morning we went to the on site bakery for breakfast. They had a total of 3 croissants and 3 doughnuts for purchase. Nothing else. We asked about all the lovey items we saw on the menu and the response was “oh I didn’t work yesterday” Not sure how that explains the situation. The wi fi on property is non existent. One of us had zero service all weekend and the others could not make phone calls. There were multiple bugs in the master bedroom as well as several stray hairs. There was a sign in the room advertising room service and a QR code to scan. So we did that the next morning- but alas, there was no room service. We called the front desk again and were told to consult our map to go to the bakery. When we explained that the bakery had no food, the front desk had no response. EHP is about 10 minutes from town, and there are zero food choices near the property. There is an on site restaurant but it was only open for dinner. I understand it is considered the off season in the Hamptons and I understand the hotel is new, but if you can not offer basic amenities and services, then you should either close for the off season, or let people know that your services are not fully operational. This was a very disappointing experience. I imagine in the summer, people will be happy to spend a small fortune to stay here in subpar conditions, just so they can say they are in East Hampton, however, we will not be some of those people!
