Reviewed By AnfibisStayed 5 nights from 22nd to 27th July - this is a hotel in the original architectural style of This area. Its substance has been preserved carefully with passion by its owners, a dedicated couple who have been running this gem for decades. All staff are friendly and efficient, and despite the added stress of them wearing a mask all day at high season, always impressed as relaxed and dedicated as you could possibly be under the circumstances of the imposed restrictions. We stayed in two rooms, one with wooden floors, the other with carpet, both equally cosy, clean and comfortable, bathrooms nicely rejuvenated with excellent amenities. We dined there 4 nights - the restaurant is very good, the venison and deer highly recommended. Excellent choice of wines. We slept with the window open - you hear the little mountain river close to the hotel, though, its constant sounds rather put us to sleep in a peaceful environment than bother us at all. Will soon return there, they made us feel at home so much....... Just as an add on regarding the TripAdvisor- questions re Covid-precautiions: As a physician and researcher I do not agree with the mainstream opinion that any contactless services need to be offered by the hospitality business: This pandemic has resulted in no more dieseased or deceased patients than any influenza pandemic the years before. It is hence hardly any more dangerous than an influenza pandemic, unless one should be a high-risk client with medical risk factors. And these risk factors also apply to any influenza epidemic. I have therefore not inquired about the questions TripAdvisor asks on this subject to put worried travellers‘ minds at ease.

Die ehemalige offene Saumtier-Einfahrt dient heute als Entrée. Über knarrende Holztreppen und -dielen gelangt man in die 16 ursprünglichen Zimmer, die alle einen individuellen Charme haben. Das Restaurant befindet sich im früheren Heustall. Von dort begeistert ein fantastischer Ausblick über die Steindächer von Splügen auf die herrliche Bergwelt des Rheinwaldes.
A truly unique place, old meets new
Reviewed By EH_ZHYou can feel the history of this house already before you enter the hotel. Old building, restored with care and passion. Some elements remind you of how the house must have been centuries ago (e.g. staircase). Other elements are modern (e.g. bathroom), however in a simplistic way to fit the old memories. Very relaxing sleep, far away from any street noice of the valley. Very friendly and service oriented staff. Food is good. Nice dining room with large, modern windows. Very nice experience indeed.

Reviewed By PlaettliAmazing location for hiking and nice local shops nearby. Room was always clean and even pyjama folded. View on the river and mountains. However for those who prefer it quieter (at night especially), I would recommend to ask for a different one if possible. Parking available for guests just on the same street. The young waitress in the restaurant SUPERB - very nice and warm. Food was tasty but there is very little vegetarian/vegan options and no offers to make a vegi version of something. Breakfast portions were ideal and could always ask for a bit more if needed.

Very Swiss hotel and restaurant
Reviewed By FarmerGRA great hotel, in a great location, with helpful and friendly staff. The rooms were clean and adequate for a comfortable over-night stay, although the shower room was fairly cramped. The food and drink in the restuarant were ideal for 3 wet and tired mororcyclists.
