The most beautiful resort! The oceanfront room is worth the splurge, you can’t get closer to the ocean! Rooms recently remodeled and very clean. All service was impeccable. Breakfast and dining options within walking distance. Ocean view immediately in front of the hotel and beaches directly on either side of the hotel. Poipu beach about a 5 min walk away. Any water gear can be rented directly from the hotel and great snorkeling in the bay right in front of the hotel! Drinks at the pool bar were great, Red Salt was good for a hotel restaurant. Definitely the nicest hotel option on the south side. Quiet, relaxed vibe. We brought one child and she had a great time in the pool! As the hotel is smaller there were plenty of chairs/umbrellas available at the pool and on the lawn.

One of my favorite properties in all of Hawaii!

I was given the last room available for Friday night when I found out my vrbo had no plumbing. Not only was the staff amazing but they also kindly allowed me use of the hospitality suite once I checked out, so I could shower and change at the end of the day. I ended up staying right next door to the property the last two nights, so I enjoyed coming back to the hotel for all of my meals and shopping. HIGHLY recommended even at their highest rate. Wonderful.

The best pool ever.

I’ll start with my positives. I would have given this hotel a 4.5, but my complaints are not enough to drop to a 4. We stayed here 3 nights. The pool was amazing. Although you can only do slides from 11-6 … there are 3 different ones. Plus the main one had so many sections. They messaged before we got there if we wanted to have the fridge stocked when I got there - which I felt was awesome. The balcony door opened alllll the way. So we had 3 doors wide open if we wanted. We received Leis / beads when we checked in and there was chocolate and a bag with water in our room. The bag was great for beach toys. There were pool side food places, snacks and rentals. The room had a full washer and dryer. Kitchen supplies. Negatives - the breakfast place we loved was closed 2 of the days. With a picky son who loved the food, that kinda stunk. — but they did text everyone early to let us know other options.

Beautiful Property on Kauai's South Shore

First a disclaimer -- This is part of Marriott's Vacation Club and I am an owner (just not at this resort). I traded in through Interval International. My husband and I stayed here for a week. It's our second time. It is important to understand that this is part of Marriott's Vacation Club which is separate from the hotel chain. There is no room service, no maid service, and only a small pool side restaurant that is open minimal hours. So, if these things are important to you -- don't book here. They are not important to me and I love the place. Room Assignment: Because of the way the resort is designed there are only a few true ocean front views. Most of the ocean view rooms only give a partial view over a parking lot. We stayed in one the first time we came. It was rather windy, but I thought the view was OK. The ocean front rooms are also right over the pool, lounger chairs and pool bar, so they are not that quiet. The front buildings Hale 1, 2, 3, and 4 are situated around the pools. So, if this is what you want, those are the buildings to ask for. The back part of the resort (Hale 3, 4, 5, and 6 is situated around an incredibly beautiful pond, and water falls, and has beautiful landscaping. This area is on the whole pretty quiet. This is where we were, and we loved it. Both of us sat on the Lanai and read. I drank my coffee there. We were in room 6203. The villas have 2 bedrooms, a combination living room and dining area, a full kitchen that is well stocked, and 2 bathrooms. If there is a kitchen item you don't have you can call and they will provide. I love mashed potatoes and I called for a potato masher and it arrived within 10 minutes. I love going to the farmers market and fresh fish store, then eating in. If you like to eat out regularly you will have to go off the property. But, there are a number of really good restaurants within 5 minutes. The interior of the villa we stayed in was well maintained and spotless when we arrived. The resort is incredibly well kept and all the employees I met were helpful. All the areas are cleaned regularly and there seems to be a large crew of gardeners seeing to the grounds. The grass is beautiful and there are people getting rid of weeds regularly. There are numbers of birds to watch around the pond. The concierge was extremely helpful in setting up activities and a massage. The beach in front of the resort is incredible. There is swimming and snorkeling. Monk seals and turtles were there each day.

Nice, relaxing stay

Reviewed By travelinni

We enjoyed our stay. The unit was comfortable and quiet. Large kitchen with plenty of storage. Love the texting feature they use for guest needs. The property is relaxing to walk around and view the ocean and turtles in the waves. There is no swimming beach but they are nearby. The food & beverage on the premise is a tiny pool side building with a couple of table but no service. You order with the bartended and you pick it up when ready. We had breakfast and lunch there and, of course, happy hour. The food and drink quality was good but served in to-go containers. It was nothing outstanding compared to other nearby resorts with full service restaurants. That would be the only lack luster miss to an otherwise resort with a beautiful ocean side setting. Would definitely stay here again if we were back on that island.

Great "Base of Operations" for a stay on Kaua'i

Reviewed By 330maxh

We decided to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary (02-02-02 -- 2-2-22) on Kaua'i. Using a variety of online searches for a condo on the South coast, we settled on Poipu Plantation Resort thanks to reviews like this. I don't think we could have made a better choice. We were here 2-1-2022 to 2-08-2022. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Maddy and Pete (the owner), and informed that we would be staying in "Norfolk" -- a beautiful, 1-br ocean-view unit (instead of "Mango" -- a partial view unit -- which I had booked, and which was directly below). The 23-steps up to the unit were well worth the effort. The view from the balcony is perfect for watching the sunset each day. The unit itself was a delight. Nicely decorated, plenty of windows to allow fresh air to circulate throughout the unit, and very well supplied with tableware, silverware, and glasses (in wine, highball, and old fashioned varieties), cooking utensils, drip coffee maker (plenty of filters) and coffee cups, and, most important of all, SHARP knives by Sabatier (as a mostly-retired caterer, these were a true pleasure!). We stocked up on some fresh NY strip steaks, wild caught marlin and ahi steaks, eggs, salad mix, some veggies, OJ, and soft drinks at Costco after arriving at Lihue and before making the 20-minute drive to Poipu. The full-size refrigerator accommodated it all (Safeway and Big Save markets are much higher priced, but necessary for some small quantities of items you might need). The bedroom dresser and closet (full of wood hangers) held all our folded and hanging clothes with ease. The queen bed was a joy to sleep on each night. The bathroom includes a large shower with handheld adjustable sprayer and body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. The only thing missing was a hair dryer. Large flat-screen LED TV was ROKU connected, but sort of missed being able to watch the news. I grilled our steaks and fish on the Weber BBQ in the gazebo downstairs. As a "base of operations" for visiting all the island has to offer, South shore is ideal, as is Poipu Plantation. The resort is walking distance to Poipu Beach, but we chose to drive. The unit comes complete with deck chairs and beach towels, so no need to bring your own. Early mornings are the best time to go . . . before the crowds arrive around 11am. We found six turtles on the West end of the beach one morning. From the resort, you can get to your choice of Waimea Canyon State Park on the west coast or to Hanalei and Princeville on the North coast in about an hour -- and you definitely need to visit both. There is a farmer's market in Poipu on Wednesday afternoons, and a large farmer's market in Lihue on Saturday mornings. The grounds here are well-manicured. The songbirds love the place -- plenty of plumeria trees (unfortunately mostly dormant this time of year), and although you can find them just about anywhere you go, there aren't any chickens on the property. Owner Pete is a real gentleman! After checking out and driving to Lihue for our 1:30pm return flight to LAX, my wife discovered that she had left some cash in the complimentary safe in the unit. We called the resort and Pete found her cash and it was in my PayPal account before we landed. It doesn't get better than that! With so many other places in the world we haven't seen, we might not get back to Kaua'i, but if we ever do, we will surely come back to Poipu Plantation Resort.
