The 7 best Hostels hotel in Adelaide, Australia

May 1, 2023 Stefan Strunk

The capital city of South Australia is simply enchanting, a treasure trove of shopping, fine arts, gastronomy and outdoor activity. Adelaide is the heart of the world's opal industry, selling gorgeous stones from South Australian mines. Be sure to hike the aptly named Mt. Lofty Ranges and catch a wave off the Fleurieu Peninsula. Indulge your adventurous palate and traipse into nearby wine regions like the famed Barossa Valley to pick up a deliciously drinkable souvenir.

I stayed here for three nights and a very good hostel and the receptionist very friendly and only four beds to a room. The only problem was that the public telephone was not working and I had to borrow a mobile to ring just to get in as reception not manned after 7-00pm. The next night was no problem as I had a code. My things in the fridge were OK also unlike the Sydney hostel which either someone pinched or the cleaners through out!

A good cheap hostel in a great location. The place good use some maintenance as both the mens and womens bathroom ld had leaky showers that were running nonstops. Otherwise the staff were friendly and the place was safe and secure with a good vibe.

To be avoided!

This is by far the most disgusting place I have ever stayed in... Where do I begin? The hostel on first appearance is unkempt, unhygienic and overcrowded. The dorm room had clearly not been cleaned properly, there was toe nail clippings on the window seal, dirty tissues under the bed, dust everywhere and just smelt as if there hadn’t been any fresh air circulating for a while. There was a air conditioning unit in the room that could only be operated by reception which meant by nighttime, the room was just being blasted with freezing cold, regurgitated air. (Not pleasant when sharing with three other people in a confined space). The only saving grace was the fact that there was a window by the bed. As for the rest of the facilities, the bathrooms were ok, however could do with a lick of paint and a bit more cleaning. The ‘tv room’ upstairs is fairly undesirable and to be avoided! The whole area just smelt musty/damp/sweaty. Not forgetting, the dirty boxers that seemed to make a permanent residence on the floor or armrest of the sofa. Niceee! The kitchen/common area was equally as filthy and cramped. Very much a party hostel. Found it very strange that we had no communication with any of the hostel staff members, even when checking in/out; this was all done by text message? It seemed as if anyone and everyone could walk into the hostel which is concerning in terms of security. Please avoid!

Great place to stay

The lovely lady at reception was extremely helpful and we are very greatful for the service she gave us. She went out of her way to look up public transport time tables for us and even helped us with trying to cancel tours we were not able to do anymore. Very spacious rooms and fresh clean linen. only problem with the room that could make it a bit more cozy would be a small couch or something comfortable to rest and watch the tv on as you do not always want to be in bed to relax. The outdoor area was a lovely area to eat dinner and mingle with other guests with the kitchen on the small side it really was nice to have somewhere to go eat and get out of the way of those cooking. We stayed here last year also and the improvements that have occurred are great. When we come back next time I am sure it will be even better.

Worst ever!!! Do not come here! BED BUGS!

Reviewed By 2212alexs

-bed bugs, -bad hygiene, -bad smell, -bathrooms and kitchen in bad conditions, -disgusting, -very noisy Just do yourself a favour and DO NOT book it, it was literally the worst experience ever!! As we entered the building it already smelled bad. The kitchen and the bathrooms were in very bad conditions. And just to make everything worse, we had BED BUGS!! They were crawling all over the bed and the floor. When we spoke to the manager it seemed as if they knew about the problem and they did nothing about it. No wonder they have them with the bad hygiene all over the place! It was disgusting!

Woman at reception was absolutely rude. We had a time for check in and the place was not open. Had to call a few times before she answered and opened up to let us in. Awful customer service skills and the place did not smell clean. We did not stay here because of her. There are other backpackers in Adelaide who are friendly and have great facilities. Please explore all other options before staying here.

SCANDALOUS!!

Reviewed By twistfisher

First of all, I am disappointed with this establishment: the hostel is rotten, it needs renovation. When I arrived the first day there was no oven !! The breakfast is disgusting, a few slices of bread and old honey and milk. The staff are totally unable to smile or greet you every morning. When it's time to clean the rooms, he doesn't knock before coming in, they open the door directly without your consent. The manager don't talk about it, it's a fat frustrated Filipina who is rude. She is a very frustrated woman! Big pig character. Finally, I do not recommend this hostel!
