Affordable All-Inclusive In Expensive Bol

Reviewed By Neil_Hughes

Before booking, we were a little concerned after reading reviews about ant-infested rooms and the entertainment. But, we often forget that context is everything and that opinions around hotel stays are subjective. Before I go any further, it's probably best I tell you more about who we are and our expectations. We got the ferry from Split for five nights in Bol. It was about a 20-minute walk to the hotel. We are a middle-aged couple who would not sit around the hotel getting involved with the entertainment but appreciated many people want that. We knew BOL was expensive, so we needed a base where we could fill up on breakfast and then spend our days exploring Bijela Kuca Beach, Zlatni Rat Beach, and Martinica Beach before returning to the hotel for drinks and food. Bluesun Holiday Village Bonaca ticked all of these boxes. Every single staff member we met was friendly and polite. The food was good with plenty of choice, and the rooms were very clean. The only downside was at night there was no escaping the family entertainment, so we stocked up on all-inclusive drink and retired to our room with the sound of Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo in the distance. Bluesun Holiday Village Bonaca is a great family hotel and with lots of entertainment for the kids. If you pay a refundable deposit at reception, you can rent beach towels which can be replaced each day by Ivan by the pool. In fact, Ivan needs a special thank you for all his hard work and is an unsung hero of the hotel with a keen eye for detail. If you are family or someone looking for an affordable base that is also all-inclusive, don't stress about the bad reviews and focus on exploring the beautiful island of Bol. Special thank you to all the staff for looking after us. Overall, it's a perfect base to enjoy the best BOL has to offer. Clean rooms, good food, and friendly staff. The only downside is not having anywhere to have a romantic few drinks after dinner without hearing Baby Shark, but hey it's a family hotel and we understand it's not all about us. :)

Awful service of Wellness spa

Turned up to my appointment at 17.00 as arranged. There was no one at the desk and no one available to do my treatment. The staff seem disinterested and unwilling to help. I will not be returning as they didn’t seem to care.

A true vacation experience. Experience holidays in a luscious garden by the beach of a peaceful cove. Rest by the pool with a great view.

Lovely hotel, not so sure about location

Reviewed By Angela M

Stayed here for 2 nights. Very spacious room, very clean and bright public areas. Nice private balcony overlooking the pool area. Small pool with a paddling pool for young children. About 12-14 sun loungers around the pool area. Set in beautiful gardens. However it is a 15-20 minute walk into the harbour/center along a not particularly pleasant road - if I'd been on my own I would have felt a bit uneasy walking back later in the evening. Breakfast, as in most hotels these days, is buffet style. Reasonable selection except for fresh fruit of which there was very little. Supetar is not the most exciting of holiday locations, Bol is much nicer but Supetar handy for ferry to Split. Secure car parking available at the hotel.

Bluesun Holiday Village Velaris

Family favorite by the beach. In a lavish Mediterranean garden, just a few steps away from the beach, treat your loved ones to a great holiday.

Overal nice hotel but disappointed at the poor and at times even impolite communication and the basic buffet.

Overal good hotel except for the fact we were misinformed or rather not informed at all about the transfer back to the ferry to catch our flight home. Despite the fact that we asked several times during the time of our stay, even the night before, nobody could give us correct information until 20min before the actual departure. We just got out of the shower and had not even packed yet so fair to say this was not our idea of a relaxing return as we almost missed our transfer and our flight because of this. The worst thing about it was the reaction of the lady (short dark hair) at reception who blamed us for this and completely denied the fact we asked many times before. Her smirky comment “run!” made us angry as she was basically laughing in our faces. Not the service you expect from a 4 star star hotel to say the least. When we said well you can check it on the camera that we were here for information just yesterday night she said with a smile on her face “the camera is not recording”. We also had extra costs because of this because we did not have the time to fill up the tank of our rental car and had to pay an extra fee. Very very poor service of this lady, she should not be in customer service. Also we took a half pension arrangement but the buffet, that was advertised as ‘fresh from the garden’ was really not good. The food was bland and there was hardly any choice. So sadly we ate out for the rest of our stay. Another dealbreaker was finding a dead rat on the hotels doorstep when we went out at night. Otherwise the hotel staff was very friendly and the location and private beach were beautiful even though it turned out you had to pay extra for the loungers on the beach. We will not be returning for the above reasons but if you enjoy being belittled and laughed at by the reception staff go for it.

Authentic Mediterranean vacation. Experience holidays in a historic Dalmatian villa in a new guise. Surrounded by a lush garden by the beach, it overlooks a peaceful cove.

Fantastic stay!

We had one of the best vacations at this resort! The stuff is amazing, kind, attantive and the fruit garden is a wonder! You walk around and can eat straight from the trees! The bushes are spices like rosemary or lavender. The room was on the ground floor with a taras surrounded by flowers. Just amazing! No kattle though, which is a big minus if you life an afternoon tea and the fridge is full of drinks making it impossible to use for other things. If you remove any bottles you can be charged so be careful what you want to pay for! The beach is pebbled and right next to the hotel. It is a public beach so it is worth buying a matress for 80 kuna as oppose to hiring a beach chair for 150 per day. The sea water is clean and plenty of fish to see while snorkeling or diving. There is an excellent diving center Amber at the resort we highly recommend! The resort has a small swimming pool, but sea water is warm so not many people go there anyway. Finally the centre is a 15-20 min walk away and you can stroll on the promenade to town. They have a small clinique with ambulance service should you need a doctor.
