Hostal de la Gavina is a luxurious resort on a private estate. The setting between two lovely beaches on a small peninsula is exquisite. It is elegant in the European, grand-hotel tradition, with splendidly decorated rooms and antiques. Each guest room has direct-dial telephone, electronic safe, mini-bar, hair dryer, and satellite color television. It is the only Five-Star Grand Luxe resort hotel in Catalonia.
Second visit and just as wonderful this time
Reviewed By dottiedogIt had been 7 years since our last visit but it's still just as lovely. The room and hotel are clean and well maintained. The views are fabulous. The pool is stunning. And most of all the staff is helpful, friendly and just so pleasant with every interaction, I can't wait until we visit again

Hotel in lovely setting by sandy beach but food an issue!
Reviewed By Alhambra01This is a traditional and well maintained hotel with friendly and helpful staff located next to a sandy beach popular with surfers. During our visit in early March the hotel was full for the weekend followed by fewer guests during the week. What proved to be a problem was the evening meal! The half board option was, as a previous guest stated, from the menu del dia which had five main choices - we were staying 7 nights! So on the Friday arrival day we had the pork ribs and was going to have the cod the next day but both dishes apparently were finished on the second night - I couldn’t believe it! Pork ribs replaced with pork cheeks (apparently a Catalan specialty) - yuk! And the cod replaced likewise with an inferior fish option. So we turned to the a’la carte option which had a Catalan rather than a more European bias save the filet steak which I had on 3 nights as the other options were mainly Catalan fish dishes. We also had to opt for bar snack chicken bits on a couple of nights. Staff did try to help as much as possible but we will not return to this hotel.

Reviewed By Anne HHave stayed here many times before and was delighted to return. The hotel and staff are coping very well with making adaptations because of covid. There has been a change of chef in the restaurant and although it is still 'self service ' buffet the range of food was better, if not very warm. Had a great room with fantastic view over the beach.
