Veteran Discount

Reviewed By Chuckalot

Made reservations on-line requesting a military discount as I was a Vietnam Era Veteran. We were quoted $94 + taxes for one night at the Hampton Inn in Ft Payne, AL. (256-304-2600) When we arrived Bianca was on duty and informed us that the military discount applied only to traveling active duty military. She then informed us that our new price would be $195 + taxes and fees. We informed her that the website listed military without reference to active duty. She informed us that many vets have said the same. We asked to speak with the on-duty manager. She informed us that there wasn’t one. She then called Jinal Patel, Manager, and he lowered the rate to $165 + taxes and fees which was still a 73% increase from our original quote. I asked why a Vietnam Era Veteran was not treated the same as active duty military. She did not respond and we cancelled our reservation and left. Shame on Hilton for treating Vietnam vets unfairly.

Days Inn by Wyndham Fort Payne

Older hotel well maintained with a friendly and caring staff.

Abysmal - Avoid at all cost

Reviewed By W4247MWjohns

On our recent getaway my wife and i booked a room at the Days Inn by Wyndham in Ft. Payne Al based on the rating given by Tripadvisor. The property was rated as a 4 star property and it should have been a 1 star or 0 star rating. It was dirty, dilapidated, and disgusting. When we arrived the room we were offered was smelly and looked like it had not been updated in 30 years. There was water standing on the bathroom floor. Tripadvisor needs to revisit this property and rate it so that others can avoid this mess.

Not awful, but not great either.

This property is the very definition of mediocre. It wasn't filthy, but it wasn't exactly clean, either, especially in the bathroom. My room was a little worn, but not quite ready for an overhaul. The front-desk associate wasn't rude, but they weren't exceptionally welcoming. It's probably not the worst hotel in Fort Payne, but the next time I'm in the area, I'm going to try someplace else, as I can't imagine it's the best, even for a hotel of this tier. One additional note: I almost gave the Quality Inn Fort Payne a fourth star, but breakfast choices were sparse, and not that appealing. There was a waffle iron, but the waffle batter dispenser was empty, and while there were bagels and bread available, there didn't seem to be a toaster available to actually toast them. They'd honestly be better off not offering breakfast than for it to be so disappointing.

This place was horrible. The toilet literally moved, was not sealed to floor, toilet paper holder came out of wall, cig butt stains all over bathtub. The sheets and blankets had numerous cig burns. Beds were uncomfortable. Room just felt dirty. We had planned to stay another night, but we moved on and kept traveling.

In town for the weekend

Reviewed By 999leahr

We were visiting Ft. Payne for the weekend and stayed at the Holiday Inn based on the reviews. The staff was very nice and helpful. The Hotel grounds were clean and well cared for. The lobby was clean and hand sanitizer stations were available. We had two adjoining rooms, one with a King bed and bath and one with two Queen beds and a bath. The Hotel rooms were clean and smelled fresh. The beds were very comfortable and provided a very good night's sleep. The bathrooms were ok. The King room had a tub/shower, the Queen room had a walk In shower. They were both clean however the toilet tissue holders were very loose and the toilet tissue kept falling off in the Queen room. Perhaps they need to install new holders. The toilets were standard height, not the newer chair height that you find in most newer places. The shower head in the King room was adjustable however the showerhead in the Queen room was not and did not have enough water pressure to shower well. Perhaps it needs a replacement. However, the rooms were very clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast both morning we were there. They provided hot foods of biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, sausages, mini muffins, yogurt, Apple's bananas, cinnamon rolls juices and coffee. The second morning they provided cheese omelets instead of scrambled eggs. A very nice way to start the day. All in all it was a nice hotel and provided an good night's sleep.
