Hotel Torino

The Hotel Torino is a family-run hotel in Mediterranean style, built following the style of the centuries-old houses of the coastal area of Maresme. Run by our family since 1965 being the third generation. The Hotel has triple, double and single rooms, all with bathroom, telephone, air conditioning, heating, fan, LCD TV and free Wi-Fi throughout the Hotel. The Torino Hotel also has a lounge, cafeteria and restaurant where you can enjoy an excellent menu with fresh local products. The Hotel Torino is distinguished by the friendly and friendly service and the comfort of its facilities. It presents a privileged location in the center of the village and 100 meters from the beach, the train and bus station. It is an ideal place to spend a few days of rest near BCN. Its good location also allows you to go to the Catalunya circuit (Montmeló) to see the great Moto GP and Formula 1 prizes in just 20 minutes (12km).

A great find

Tucked away in an Al Masnou side street, the Torino is a very welcoming family owned hotel. Spotlessly clean, only a short walk into the town, which to be honest is not that interesting and built sprawling over steep slopes. But the train station is close to the hotel, with frequent connections to Barcelona city. The owner and his staff were very friendly and efficient, nothing was any trouble, and I had a really good lunch in the small hotel dining area with fresh salmon, perfectly cooked, and served on a bed of sauteed Mediterranean veggies and with profiteroles as a desert. The cakes at the breakfast bar were always delicious, coffee always freshly made. All in all, only positive experiences. You can always find fault if you nit-pick can't you, but quite honestly, it would be hard to find a fault worth mentioning about the Hotel Torino. Definitely recommended.

Llar de Capitans Hotel

Llar de Capitans hotel is a modernist building built in 1865, completely restored, maintains its original charm combined with modern facilities. Located in El Masnou at just 30 metres to the beach and 20 minutes by train from Barcelona City Centre. Our hotel has 5 fully renovated rooms, one suite and a fabulous apartment with idependent entrance

Looks nice but beware of money scams and fraud!!!

Well the hotel looks charming and is indeed well appointed with pleasant rooms, as long as you don't take one on the sea front due to very busy road and railway immediately opposite. HOWEVER, this is where the good news stops! I have stayed at thousands of hotels worldwide and never been met with such poor service and money grabbing attitude. When you call to book the room the very first question is Cash or Credit (I should have been wary at this point) - they clearly want you to book with a credit card as it helps the scam that comes later. First, almost minor point, having stayed at hotels worldwide I am use to the standard of 11.00 or 12.00 check out... not at Liar de Capitans. At exactly 10,00 we have knocking on our room door and a simultaneous call from the reception desk saying that is now past 10.00 (by a few seconds) we have automatically to pay 15 euro charge for a "late" check out... 10.00 is not late! I later checked my card report and find that they made this first unauthorized transaction within minutes of making the claim on us for a "late" check out. The biggest part of this whole money grabbing scheme comes after you have left the hotel. Within 45 minutes of departure we received a communication that due to a small scratch (about 1 cm long from the photo sent although it was hard to even see anything wrong in the picture) on the door frame leading into the room we occupied they have - without approval - charged our card for an additional 50 euro. There was no prior discussion, no pleasantries and no request - just an automatic charge for something we did not do and which was not authorised. We did not leave the hotel with our card details so they put the 50 euro charge through as an online e-commerce transaction - this was not an online transaction and it was not approved. Despite many calls to the hotel on the two days following our stay the manager refused to talk with us and would only reiterate their threats to take money as they pleased from our card via the unfortunate russian girl (I wonder is she had a visa!?) in reception. The receptionist told us that the manger said it must be us who made this small scratch because "the manger, the cleaner and the receptionist each inspect each room (obviously on their hands and knees with a magnifying glass) in detail after every guest has left" - I doubt this is true and in any case, I never even heard of such a crazy practice at any other hotel; it's clear that this is the standard pitch to defend their fraud. Though my card company is currently processing the chargeback for the unauthorised transactions we incurred as a result of this hotel's dishonest and uncourteous practice it does not address the horrific experience and considerable time needed to deal with the issue post our stay. I expect the Liar hotel to suddenly appear on tripadvisor and refute these claims but please be very aware - if you stay here then pay cash, do not leave any card details! Better to stay somewhere else though, where honest and polite customer service, not money grabbing fraud, is the hotel's priority. Please also note that we were not asked to sign any contract on arrival or departure. Also, thet the rooms do not have the normal fire safety evacuation information and route posted by the doors - something which I would assume is a legal requirement in Catalonia, as in most EU and worldwide hotels.

One star is too much

Horrible place. Owned by the vilest humans I’ve had the displeasure of meeting. So rude, they have no idea how to run a business and it’s no surprise that the business is closing down. Disgusting facilities and they will try to steal your money so be very careful when you pay.

Cero flexibilidad

Reviewed By Q9192JQjuand

Estoy muy descontento con el trato recibido. Tuve un problema con la reserva y no han tenido la mínima flexibilidad a la hora de resolver. Además con una actitud muy prepotente. Desde mi mala experiencia, no lo aconsejo.
