Hotel Cesspool

Do NOT stay at this hotel. Fleetwood is the filthiest, most discusting hotel I have I have had the mistake of reserving at. Everything about this hotel is gross. The bed was so foul I spent the night in a chair, which itself was suspect. Could not wait to leave that cesspool.

Lovely home to stay in. The rooms are playful and very comfortable. Our hostess was Darlene and we enjoyed her and the one other guest so much we stayed up past midnight getting to know them. The breakfast was yummy too. We will be staying there again when we next go up north.

Best Hotel in Cheboygan

We always stay here when we visit Cheboygan and Mackinaw City. The rooms are clean, staff are friendly, and breakfast is above average. Beds are very comfortable, and bedding is white so if they were dirty you could see it. Great location on the river. Nice view, and our room had a back door with a table and 2 chairs so you could sit and look at the river if you wanted to. Highly recommend!

Front Desk Person & Motel

Reviewed By Nancy T

The front desk person needs customer service training badly! She started out ok and it just went down hill from there. She stated "don't lock yourself out of your room because we don't appreciate having to come in to unlock your room." I've never locked myself out of a motel room yet. The motel is very clean but, it's a $55 a night motel, not $150!!! We had a TV in the bedroom closet. The A/C was in one bedroom and was suppose to cool the whole area. It was a 2 bedroom + bath motel room. Anyway, I guess they can get away with it as Mackinaw City is pricey. Stay there if you have to. Good luck

The Monarch Motel

Clean rooms, friendly

Needing a room for overnight, we selected the Monarch Hotel for convenience to nearby friends. Check in was super easy. Room is small but comfortable, clean but without closets. Cute decor, includes tv, microwave, coffee pot, heat and air. Located on a busy street, trucks can be loud. We would stay at Monarch again for convenience and price.

On July 4th 2020, my friends and I decided to venture up to Cheboygan for a piece of the outdoors. We have all been camping before in various locations across Michigan. USUALLY the location has campsites properly divided with space in between for privacy, electrical, access to water ands Sanford ration facilities. At this place, you’re lucky to have one of these amenities. I give this place five stars because when you go camping, you have to expect the unexpected. Any rational person would leave a single star followed by one word, beware. This camp ground is not for your family, it is not a place to bring your kids or a prime spot for a honeymoon. This is the place for college kids who like to flirt with death. The view is spectacular, but the climate, the condition of the location is not for the feint hearted. Here is our story. Our group consisted of two girls, a D1 football player, and two more guys(the relevance of my 6’6 200 pound linebacker friend will come in later). We arrived to the location at sundown and had to hunt for an employee to check us in. Enter Walt the campground leader. We entered the main pavilion that was littered with broken glass, used tampons and misc trash from prior campers. Walt was visibly injured bleeding all over, stressfully chain smoking Marlboro reds. We asked for directions to our reserved site and were told to “go find one”. Our site came with two tents, used pillows and a halfway deflated mattress. Our electrical was nowhere near our site and we had to share with our neighbors. We finished setting up on the beachside site and enjoyed a sunset with the campground staff(who drank more of our beer than we did). Walt and Casey were great hosts, but what followed over the course of the next three days was nothing short of a nightmare. The next day our group locked down our food and personal belongings and drove up to Mackinac for the day. Upon our return to the campground, our tent was flipped over, our food was missing, our liquor was missing, and money had been taken out of our bags that were tucked beneath our air mattress. We had been raided. We confronted our neighbors nick and Brittany(now incarcerated) to see if they saw anything to which they responded stating that they were clueless. That night the alcoholic couple got into a physical altercation(drug induced) and we decided to intervene. Apparently, Brittany had spent the day sleeping with other campers and Nick was not happy. We heard Nick hit his pregnant And intoxicated wife and decided he needed to leave. Together with the staff, we sepperated the two. Nick left for a few hours and Brittany was face down drunk next to our tent. It was at about 11pm when myself and a friend of mine ventured over to their site and located our missing food, money and booze! They blatantly stole from us while pretending to befriend us. Brittany began threatening the girls in our group charging us and using profanity awakening the whole campground. Nick then returned drugged our claiming our D1 friend was flirting with his drunken wife(which he was not, gentle giant). It was at about 1 am when Nick charged at the males in our group along with the camp staff, it was a full our brawl. Nick in 1 v 5 situation was met with the D1 fists of god and instantly was slumpt to the ground(self defense of course). Nick then stood up, issued a few racial slurs and proceeded to return to his vehicle to retrieve his 9mm semi pistol. I walked with him to his car to calm him down while I calmed him down to some degree. Another hour of intensity occurred which eventually resulted in 5 of Cheboygans finest arriving and arresting the two for multiple charges. We then drove to a close friend of ours in Charlavois hours away (at 3 am). All In all, this trip was WILD. Great view, crazy people, not your typical experience. I recommend that all future campers practice their second amendment rights responsibly, and bring a generator. We will be returning this summer for more interesting times. Wish you luck if you decide to stay at this location. God bless.
