Eisriesenwelt

These magnificent underground ice caves located outside of Salzburg are some of the largest of their kind in the world.

There's plenty of parking, though it does fill up fast and you may have to walk further. It's a 20 min hard walk from the entrance booth to the cable car, then a further 20 min walk to the cave entrance. It was steep and hot and we were very tired by the time we got to the entrance (we are over 60 now). We were taken into the cave in fairly large groups. When they open the cave door, the freezing air rushes out - it's a dramatic start. Inside the cave is wonderful. There's no electric lighting, so you carry oil lamps. It's very atmospheric. The guide spoke in English then German. He was very good. There's 700 steps up and then then 700 down. It's certainly not for young children or those with disability. One couple were carrying a young child, and were advised to go back. You do have to be careful and watch your footing on the steps. It was a hard and hot day in 30C+ temperature and walking up the steep slopes, but the views both inside the cave and outside are fabulous. The guide said no photos, but I sneaked a few without any flash.

I found this in Trip Advisor and am very pleased with their professional service and friendly people. Today I had Tom flying with me, 1pm, perfect weather condition and thermal rise. The seat was very comfortable and i highly recommend this service. Safety rules are clearly explained. The best part is doing on the snow capped Mountains over 2000 meters for an hour! Glad to bring my gloves. A very good location with a very well trained staff. Thanks a lot for such a great tandem today.

Flight School Austriafly

In Holland we have no Mountains to to learn paragliding you have to come to Austria. Austriafly in Werfenweng was recommended to me to start with paragliding and to kick of with the "Grundkurs"
So I contacted the owners Josef & Stefan Rebernig and discussed a plan of approach.
We went there in the beginning of August and I started the course, including the theoretical part. It all starts on a small hill where you learn the basics of flying. After 3 days I was ready to take of from the Bischling 1850 and made my first 5 solo flights !
What a great experience is that. It was so good that I wil go back in October to make some extra flights to built on experience towards my pilot license.
Great guys, patient, professional, highly recommended !

IKARUS Hoehenrundweg
