My wife and I were visiting the region to play in a golf tournament at the Alsace golf links just an 8 minute hop from this hotel. I had read about the restaurant attached to the hotel and was looking forward to sampling its delights . We arrived early at the hotel on a Saturday, and so naturally the room was not available , but they let us leave our luggage in a small room just of reception so that it did not just sit in the car and bake whilst we played a practice round. The room was lets say compact but had everything you needed for a one night stay , especially for the price that included what turned out to be a delicious breakfast. The hotel was busy and the staff seemed a little challenged but were very friendly. The restaurant did not disappoint and we enjoyed the menu truffe very much. It did however take 3 1/2 hours to complete as the kitchen was having to serve both the restaurant and the brasserie next door , and both were pretty full. It did not distract though from the experience. We did not have time to check out the spa facilities . All in all for a one night stay , great food and reasonably priced , this venue gets my vote.

Hotel du Bollenberg

The hotel at the end of the universe. Well almost.

This is a lovely hotel that appears to be in the back of beyond. It is reached by a little lane that meanders for almost two miles through vineyards and fields. The hotel is friendly, all the staff do there best to please. Our room was spotless with a comfortable bed, the shower was adequate though the toilet was rather close to the wall requiring one to adopt an unusual position when on "the throne" to avoid banging ones knees against said wall. There are spectacular views from the terrace and I believe also from a number of rooms, (though not ours) The buffet breakfast is ok but rather expensive. The hotel does have its own restaurant but on the night we used it there was what appeared to be a large firms outing so we did not see a full menu, however what we had was fine. Across the road is an Auberge offering incredible food that would not be out of place in Paris or London, sadly with prices to match. (This however is for another separate review). A point to bear in mind, even though the hotel appears to be in the middle of nowhere, the area with its auberge, wine cave, camper van park, many miles of beautiful walking trails, is well known to local people who on a nice weekend will arrive in their droves, even though there is likely to be room in the hotel you may find that some or all of its parking spaces are occupied by the day trippers cars. Fortunately we have a 4x4 and parked in the adjacent vineyard until the sun went down and most folks went home, leaving us a hotel parking place. To sum up, a pleasant hotel with great walks all around it, a super restaurant and a wine cave across the road, a great place to chill out (Except maybe on a sunny weekend) but with little else in the area to do. We hope to return next year.

Way off the beaten track but a good deal

Motel format with all rooms on first floor and accessible to load and unload bicycles was nice . About 1.5km. from the bike trail and accessible by bike on a rough farm road . Rooms basic but clean and nice. Comfortable bed with good bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful. A good deal for only 49€ / night. It was good that there was an on-site restaurant because all other places to eat were too far away to go by bike at night . There was a gas station immediately next to the motel that had reasonably priced beverages. The on-site restaurant was a bit pricey for the quality food . Breakfast was basic and good but again at 12€ / person a bit pricey. Good bicycle secure inside storage .
