Okay and beach comments

We were searching for good snorkeling and turtle viewing beaches on this side of the Island. What we found is written below. We met a very nice person who owns a unit at this location. She showed us her 500 sq.ft. room. Do your research before staying here or investing, be sure it matches your particular needs/wants. I'd say the beach/bay location is great. (ignore my hotel ratings). Papaoneone beach: A little hidden gem. Small, but nice size, secluded behind two condo buildings. Nice for relaxing. Water is usually calmer, good for relaxing, beginner snorklers. Saw some fish but no turtles; locals told us that turtles do visit. Overall, ok to visit and ok to skip. Hawaiian Electric Beach Park: Good parking, showers. Enjoyed some snorkeling, didn't see too much. Probably not here long enough or on a good day. Kahe point beach park: Okay, we looked at it and skipped it given the time we spent at Papaoneone and Electric beach. Ko'Olina beaches: Man-made, safe, hard to get parking (go later in the day). Designed for the larger up-scale resorts. Touched the water, then left and at dinner at Monkeypod Kitchen.

Makaha Valley Towers

Dirty and Noisy Unit #708- Worst experience ever

Reviewed By Preety K

I booked through VRBO. Worst experience I've ever had with a rental company and owner. I stayed at the condo in April and May 2021. Before renting with the owner (Stephen Kushner) I made it clear that I would be there working remotely on Zoom calls, and the owner said the condo would be perfect for that. When I reported the below noise issues the owner refused to make it right. VRBO tried to intervene and asked Stephen to let me out of the rental early, but he refused and kept my money. It’s up to owners to make things right-VRBO leaves disputes to owners and renters. Beware of the owners you book with, especially this one. If you pay up front, you basically throw away your money with this place. Stephen tried to get me to sign an agreement with him outside of VRBO when I first contacted him to rent, I now understand that he did this so I wouldn’t have any recourse once the construction (outlined below) started. -LOUD Peacocks: The property has a population of ~50 peacocks that live on site year around and are VERY NOISY day and night. They start at 4am! I couldn’t sleep, even with earplugs in. I couldn’t conduct business meetings with these animals in the background constantly. -CONSTRUCTION: There was jack hammering and drilling going on for almost my entire stay. The condo staff informed me that owners were made aware of it in advance. Stephen did not tell me that it would be happening and took zero responsibility for it. -LOCATION: Makaha is the WORST PART OF THE OF THE ISLAND. There is meth/crack addiction outside the property. . Many homeless encampments lining the streets around the property. The listing description is false. It’s far from everything you might want to see and do. With traffic (everyday) it take 50 minutes to an hour to get to a decent grocery store. For dining or shopping, it’s 1 hour. There is only one road in and out of Makaha—so much traffic! So not worth staying here. - SLOW WIFI: Zoom sessions were spotty and had to end early. -BUGS& DIRTY: Cockroaches and pests in the unit! The unit was dirty, hair and dirty everywhere. Stephen said he and his wife cleaned it and bugs were a part of the island. Unsure why I was charged a cleaning fee when he “cleaned” the unit himself. The towels in the unit are moldy. Balcony doors broken, couldn't get out to the very tiny patio. The washing machines don’t work on the floor, and they ate my money several times. Of course, Stephen didn’t care. I had to lug my clothes to a different floor to wash my clothes. The power went out several times. Stephen said that was normal.

The sunsets are some of the best in all of Hawaii being on the Leeward side. (West) You can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at your private getaway! The airport is only 30 minutes &Waikiki is only 45 minutes away; The 5 Star Resort at Ko'Olina is only 20 minutes away. Restaurants, shopping, five star resorts, spas in both areas. Golf is 5 minutes away, where there are two championship golf courses across the street. Waterpark is 20 minutes away. There is also variety of fast food along Farrington Hwy. Swimming, snorkeling, diving, fishing, and surfing available all around the islands, but Makaha is famous for all of the above. There is a boat Harbor within walking distance from the condo next to Waianae High School where you can go on a trip for whale watching or swim with the dolphins boat ride. Makaha is gorgeous and a jewel that is the best kept secret only most of locals really know about and explore. Although growing with the tourist population, you won't be immersed in it here!

be careful of manager

We went with little expectations because of the price. First off we had trouble getting the right contract from Lark, first one came with a much higher price, she said she just copied an old agreement and sent it to us. The condo as a whole were very nice, but no A/C as advertised so it was a little hot inside. We had an arrangement to have Lark look over the condos as we left [to get our deposit back], but many calls and messages later she did not show up and did not return my call. After my return home again I followed up with emails, but no response for several weeks. Finally got a response that says she is short of money because her partner overspent on their budget for remodeling, her husband is out of work and she does not have enough money [only 150.00] to return our deposit. Don't think she intended to pay us as we were leaving. Cannot recommend this play just because you cannot trust the manager.
