Reviewed By Sue MWe have been travelling along the great ocean road. The last place we stayed was here. The rooms all look over the ocean and it was a joy to hear the ocean. Only problem was being woken up by the light pouring in the skylights! We ate at the restaurant and the food was very good, along the Greek theme. I was delighted with every mouthful! The staff were all friendly and helpful, explaining any dish I asked about. We had such a fabulous time, we hope to go again when we do the same trip . Thanks for such a lovely experience

Highly recommend this gorgeous cottage for your holiday stay
Reviewed By gkabLovely quiet cottage perched near a working lighthouse 15 mins drive from Portland . We stayed in the Caretakers cottage which is a little more modest than the others I think but still nicely renovated . However there is no fireplaces or a bath , which didn’t bother us at all . The cottage was absolutely clean , well appointed and comfortable with great beds and lots of towels . Every amenity is here including a laundry and dishwasher- not that we needed it as we ate in town . The walks from here are just wonderful and there are many other nature walks around the area too. I would just have 2 tiny suggestions -1. Lots of bacon was left in the fridge for our breakfast but we are vegetarian so that’s a bit wasteful ( maybe ask people ?) and 2. Please clean the window sills . When you open the windows there are loads of dead flies and dirt there which blow in . Other than that .. all great !

Marwood offers four individually decorated Villas, hand made terracotta and slate tiles, granite bench tops, huge sofas, Real log fires, fully equipped kitchens, forged dining tables, matching chairs, bedside tables. King beds. Australian wool under covers, imported linen, floor rugs. The bathroom unfolds double vanities, a large play area shower. A deep double spa grandly colonnaded sits in a window bay beside the bed. Experience an overwhelming sense of space, proportion and harmony as you enter through the arched porch. Breakfast with the birds on the patio in fine weather and unwind to the calming sounds of the bush. In the cooler months the mood lighting and crackling log fires create a cosy atmosphere that encourages relaxation.

Reviewed By nursenattiMy partner and I stayed in one of the Marwood Villas for 2 nights in July and I can honestly say that it was the most beautiful weekend we have spent together. The villas are spectacular. The bed was extremely comfortable. The spa was lovely. The bathroom is large and looks out onto the beautiful trees at the back of the villas. The breakfast basket was perfect and the surroundings are so tranquil. I brought my pushbike, which was great as Marwood is only a quick ride/walk to the Halls Gap shops, where we purchased ingredients to make our own meals, rather than eat out - the kitchen has absolutely everything you need. My partner has a terminal illness and did not have much energy to go out, so we spent most of our time in the villa. My partner commented to me that it was the best medicine he could have imagined. Max & Barb (owners) are so lovely and extremely professional and Cam & Deb (the property caretakers) were so wonderful. They really made our stay simply perfect. Thank you to everyone at Marwood. You are all fabulous and made our stay amazing :)

A lovely stay that met expectations. I'd stay again
Reviewed By GafFlashOur 1 bedroom villa was clean and spacious overlooking the large pond that contained various water birds and at least 5 frog species that we could hear calling into the night. Breakfast (eggs, bacon, bread, juice, cereal) a bottle of wine and chocolate were in the villa when we arrived. The restaurant was also of high standard. All staff, at reception and in the restaurant were efficient and friendly. I'd love to stay again for the view over the pond with the vineyard in the background, the large, clean villa, comfortable bed, large shower and the sound of the frogs in the evening. Only thing I'd like to see improved is the showerhead which was of a standard I'd expect to find in a budget motel.

This house offers unique and superb views capturing a shimmering lake with ducks and abundant bird life just metres from the house. Most of the main rooms have large windows, which take advantage of wonderful sights such as people boating, fishing and swimming. Nice quiet location and handy to everything with the lake on your doorstep. Nice grounds and undercover outdoor area and BBQ.

A truly magical escape
Reviewed By W2937SJcathyjWe had a magical stay at this amazing light-filled apartment, surrounded by nature, watching the mist roll in and watching kangaroos and other wildlife from our bed! The accommodation is very private, has a lovely outdoor terrace and firepit, and inside is really cosy and beautiful. There is rhubarb and passsionfruit growing outside your door and many thoughtful and delicious inclusions like firewood and Matthew’s home-made bread and cookies, home-grown fruit, good coffee and drinking chocolate. The kitchen provisions were pleasantly generous. There was even a well-stocked spice drawer. And all this just 10 minutes drive from the 12 Apostles. While there’s plenty of other attractions nearby (the Redwood Forest is well worth a visit), we really enjoyed spending part of every day just hanging out in the cabin. If you get the chance to eat any of the meals Matthew may offer, grab it. The pot stickers (dumplings) were our fav. Hard to leave!
