The 10 best Villas in Gran Canaria, Spain

April 26, 2023 Mollie Coke

Welcoming, tolerant Gran Canaria offers a little something for everyone. Families flock to the water parks and beaches of Puerto Rico. Those seeking peaceful escape scamper to Mogan's quiet fishing villages. Gay visitors crowd the bars, restaurants and beaches of Playa del Ingles. Urban attractions are on offer in Las Palmas. Three highways open up the island for those with a rental car or a bus schedule. Prime sites to visit include Iglesia de San Juan Bautista de Arucas and Palmalitos zoo park.

Robbery

On our final night of staying here, we returned to our bungalow to find it had been broken into, with many valuables stolen. It was late and reception was closed, so after a very anxious night sleep we informed them first thing in the morning. After a quick inspection, it became clear how the thieves broke in - they gained access to our key by cutting into the key container attached to the outside of our bungalow wall. The hotels security was clearly not sufficient. This was not our fault nor responsibility, but the hotels. We had to spend most of our final day at the police station, to which you’d think they would have at least offered to pay for our taxi. We didn’t even get a sorry, let alone any compensation. Other than this horrible experience, the place has a nice pool area and is good value for money. Will not be returning nor recommending due to obvious reasons ?

Good family day out.

The views from the top are stunning and well worth the hike to get there. There are a few things you need to be aware of. The road up from Mogan (GC 605) is not for the faint hearted. The road from Maspalomas is much better. The trail up-to the the rock itself is steep in places and has patches of loose gravel. It shouldn’t be attempted in flip flops. It can be done in trainers but I’d recommend walking shoes or boots. Don’t forget to take water with you. There is a stall at the start of the trail but as you can imagine it’s always busy.

Superb

We were 4 adults and 2 children staying at 'Lantanna' villa. The villa was extremely clean and spacious. The layout of our villa was 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs and 1 bedroom and the other bathroom downstairs. There was a large lounge and dining area on the ground floor with patio doors to the swimming pool. A couple of other sitting areas were also provided plus an outside table, chairs and 4 sun loungers. The kitchen was well-equiped, although the worktop showed some signs of wear and tear. The private pool was lovely and warm, and a 3 year old could stand in the shallow end. The gardens were well maintained with super mountain views, and a seaview in the distance. Highly recommended.

One of 3 apartments in a small rural complex, it is attractive, spacious, and unusual. Kitchen in our apartment was however small, physically separate, no running hot water, no basin ( or plug for the sink) and no kettle — boiling water for anything could only be done in a pan ! Two burner hot plate seemed to cause power cuts, but was replaced by the caretaker. Our apartment was cold, but the caretaker ( who lives some distance away unfortunately) produced a fan heater. The apartment was poor value for the winter-time, but would come more into its own in Spring/Summer/Autumn when pool, barbecue etc would be be of more value.

DO NOT TRUST LAURA

Reviewed By jonnyem1

This booking was cancelled on 29th November with only 3 weeks left before travelling. The booking was for Christmas and New Year which is an incredibly busy time and very hard to find a good alternative in such a short space of time. This owner is totally unreliable and untrustworthy and she has destroyed our plans. Her communication was also atrocious she says 1 hour response time on her site but this is totally wrong you are lucky to get a response in 12 hours and usually very very little information. This unacceptable behaviour and a warning should be issued as she has now really discredited Airbnb and all other brands she uses she has totally devastated a family’s Christmas plans.

AVOID - False misleading pictures!!

Reviewed By foziak131

Where to start!! Firstly this listing is the most misleading advertisement of a place I have EVER come across. And let me also add that I have never felt obliged to leave a negative review before, I am mostly very easy going but this is so bad and so false that I feel I have a duty to warn others. On arrival, we were shocked that there were multiple drug users outside the building and the street seems to be where they congregate. As its just a key code to get in, it feels so unsafe and uncomfortable. The apartment itself is much more claustrophobic than the marketing pictures have stretched out to look like. Its more like student accommodation and not somewhere where you can enjoy hanging out. The facilities are all a hassle, there is no simple kettle, the microwave oven is so difficult to use, the plugs dont fit in the socket so even charging your phone is difficult. They advertise this place as sound proof -this is false. You can hear your neighbor flushing the toilet, you can hear the drug users outside, and you can hear the construction right outside the flat which starts at 6am. The construction is a huge factor. The pictures they have is SO misleading. There is no pretty beach view (please see my pictures for the reality). Just derelict buildings and construction work, there is NO promenade to enjoy. It is all so false. I stayed one night and contacted the management to request a refund for the remaining nights. Rather than understanding that they are misleading people, they replied with sarcastic and patronizing responses, awful customer service. Their response was that this was the first time they've heard of this - utterly ridiculous because when I searched for other negative reviews (Which I should have done before making this mistake) you can see other people have also complained about the small space, noise and the drugs. Please do some research before making a terrible mistake in booking this place and ruining your holiday!!

Gato por liebre

Reviewed By amimegustalalluvia
