The 10 best Villas in Dubrovnik, Croatia

May 5, 2023 Sachiko Swiger

Dubrovnik has recovered from the war damage it suffered during the 1990s, and visitors have returned to this tranquil city. Nestled between the Adriatic and the Dinaric Alps, it’s an accessible and affordable city break for many European travelers. The pedestrian-only Old Town is especially charming.

Great stay in Dubrovnik

Reviewed By IlseK578

The apartment is clean, spacious and situated at a perfect location. The bus stop is 2 min walk from the apartments and busses run frequently into town. There is a large rooftop sun terrace with a pool and the apartment had a large balcony with great views. Communication was good with the owner but a little tricky with the hosts on site as their English was limited. My only point of improvement is the information folder in the room which needs updating. Bus times mentioned are incorrect, and it mentions daily cleaning. This did not happen on any of the days. We did not need it, but as it is mentioned the folder could do with some updating.

Villa Filaus

Located in Dubrovnik and nestled in the stunning Lapad Bay, Villa Filaus has always attracted the attention of curious passers-by. Built in 1931, this villa is considered to be one of the most beautiful villas in the city. It has retained its original appearance, and the lavishness of its front façade evokes all the beauty and splendour of times past. As befits a building of a beautiful exterior, great attention has been devoted to the interior, as well. Charming rooms and apartments, just recently renovated, provide a warm and cozy atmosphere. The villa offers eight double rooms and two well-equipped apartments. Each apartment has its own kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom. The wooden stairs inside the villa (or ˝skalini˝, as we call them in Dubrovnik) give the interior an elegant, yet warm air. Our beautiful double rooms have been decorated with muted shades and lavish décor, while the timeless classic furniture gives them an air of sophistication and luxury. Most of the rooms feature a balcony equipped with outdoor furniture and offer pool or garden views. Our double rooms are the perfect choice for those who prefer the intimacy that a villa can provide them, yet enjoy exploring a variety of locations, restaurants and other amenities provided by the city. Our cosy one-bedroom apartment (56 m2) accommodates up to three persons. The apartment is the perfect choice for those who want to have the luxuries of home at their disposal. Its exceptionally charming interior features sophisticated and classic wooden furniture, light-coloured upholstery and wooden floors that radiate a warm, homey air. Our spacious two-bedroom apartment (76 m²) can accommodate up to 5 persons and is the perfect choice for families with children. Its exceptionally charming interior features classic and sophisticated wooden furniture, light-coloured upholstery and wooden floors that radiate a warm, homey air. Guests have all the luxuries of home at their disposal.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Filaus. We had booked an apartment with one bedroom and living area which was perfect because we were travelling with our toddler. This was on the highest floor and there is no elevator but this was not a problem because we could leave our stroller at the reception. Rooms are modern and clean. There are a lot of nice restaurants and bars close and a supermarket right next to the villa. Breakfast is served in a restaurant just a few steps away (breakfast served to the table, no buffet breakfast). Bus 6 bus stop is only a three minute walk away and goes directly to Old town. Villa's manager was very nice and friendly!

The best location possible!

Reviewed By Jazzy1995

I stayed here for 3 nights with 2 friends when on our first visit to Dubrovnik. The location is excellent - literally a 1 min walk to one of the entrance gates into the Old Town. You do not need any transport to get anywhere, it is in a perfect location to walk anywhere. It is also about a 8 min walk to Banje Beach. I would strongly recommend staying somewhere just outside of the Old Town; there are no roads into the Old Town so if you have lots of luggage you will need to carry it down steep steps! The staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and kind, and very helpful with questions we had. The service was excellent. We did not have breakfast included in our room, but they did offer a small breakfast if you needed it. We had a triple room (one double bed with a sofa bed), this was plenty spacious for 3 of us. Room was clean, beds comfortable, there was a safe in the room. Excellent value for money. Excellent value for money for the price we paid, would recommend staying here for great location.

Villa Katarina

An imposing architectural structure shelters within it an oasis of peace and luxury where the style is acutely modern, but classic Dalmatian values are still maintained. Its concept combines a clear design with attention to details that cross the lines between the warmth of a home and the comfort of an elegant accommodation. Several delightful beaches, sea-side promenades, and bustling cafes are within walking distance of Villa Katarina, but its location just on the border of a green zone makes it also a place to capture moments of peace and rediscover the simple pleasures of sea, air, and time in an exclusive atmosphere of beauty. Each of the 7 self-catering apartments has floor-to-ceiling windows which lead to terraces with spectacular Adriatic views.

Great base to explore Dubrovnik

Reviewed By John B

Situated in the Lapad district of the city, this villa offers good value accommodation and basic catering facilities. The Old City can be reached via a 10 minute walk to the bus stop and a 10 minute ride (alternatively another bus route stops just outside, but takes about 20 - 25 minutes to get to the Old City. Just 5 minutes walk down to the sea with plenty of places to lie out by the rocks and enjoy the incredible colours of the Adriatic Sea. A small kitchenette lets you make your own breakfast and there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby as well as obviously in the Old City. The pool is a dip pool (about 3.5 - 4 metres long) for cooling off after another day in the glorious Dalmatian sun. Highly recommended!

Standard budget hotel, yet good option to consider

Reviewed By Olha_letstravel

I would give 5 stars to the owners and overall environment, if I could rate separately each area. Lady and her mom are sweethearts, taking good care of the hotel. However 3 stars is the maximum rating for the location. It's really far from the Old Town, or beaches, or any lively area, or main bus station. You need to take a bus every time you want to reach any of those. Bus stop is close though. The ride itself is not cheap, 2 euros for one-way trip. No bars, restaurants, supermarkets in the closest proximity. If planning to stay out late in the downtown, you have to consider a taxi as a mean for the way back, which will cost you a bundle. Rooms and villa's patio are pretty basic. They get 3 stars too. Not because they are bad, but because it's a fair rating for just a regular middle-size room, with en-siut bathroom. Its design with plain white walls reminds a bit of a hospital ward. Furniture is quite old-fashioned, yet everything is tidy and clean. There is air-conditioning, TV-set, electric kettle, hair-dryer, fridge, socket mosquitos killer, free wi-fi, and hot water 24/7. Room cleaning is daily.

Especial para vida de pareja TRANQUILA Y PRIVADA

Reviewed By danielf397
