Marbrin Olive Farm

We are a small family-run boutique olive farm nestled in the renowned Robertson Breede River Valley surrounded by the Langeberg and Riviersonderend Mountains. We extract extra virgin olive oil and process our own unique range of table olives and tapenade. Come and enjoy the ambience of the Robertson Valley as well as the taste of our olives and olive oil, a fruit well-known for its remarkable health benefits. Heading out of Robertson towards Ashton on the Red you will turn left into into Klaasvoogds East (NOT Klaasvoogds West) and travel for about another 2km's till you see the big green Marbrin Olive growers board on your right, turn in there and follow the dirt road for another 2KM'S till you reach the tasting room. Road can be a little bumpy in places, but worth it.

I found this attraction when I looked for thing to do around Robertson. We had a whole tour around Robertson visiting the wine farms and went to this farm. We were welcomed with open arms by Bryony. We sat outside and 2 other couples joined our family. My husband and I with my parents in-law. Clive was inside with another group and the tasting started. We tasted from the olives to the olive oil accompanied with a bread that Clive bakes. The nicest bread I had in a long time! Should have asked for the recipe. I think Clive could work in the theater as he is quite the entertainer. He made jokes and the atmosphere was great. We ended off with the most divine Limoncello. We left will olive oil, olives and would have bought more but were restricted on the plane. We had a lovely visit and would go there again. I would make a reservation for lunch and taste more of the produce incorporated in their food.

Springfield Estate Winery

Springfield Estate is a family owned wine estate situated in the Western Cape of Southern Africa. The Bruwers are descended from the French Hugenots and have been farming this land for five generations. At Springfield Estate, we are passionate about our craft. We believe that our name is our most precious possession, and our motto, Made On Honour, applies to every facet of our being. Our wine at Springfield Estate is made from single vineyards, mostly using natural yeast. This allows the character and the individuality of the grape to truly show itself. Due to our natural yeast fermentation, we strive to work as naturally as possible, both in the vineyard and the cellar.

A yearly visit and consistency remains. Time old traditions meet affectionate experiences. Wonderful.
It was busy today, the long weekend was in full swing, a queue formed out of no where. A first for me and fun. There’s a reason why everyone was queuing, in my opinion, they set the current benchmark for excellent unique wine, that is consistently good and new market, yet steeped in tradition.
The future of wine is here. A product that carries new traditions which intrigues me.

Viljoensdrift Wine Farm

Reviewed By graiglea - Frankfurt, Germany

After previous pleasant visits I booked my family on the river cruise and picnic, telling them they won't believe the peace and solitude of the experience, topped off by the beautiful setting. The setting never changes, but the peace and solitude we expected was abruptly interrupted by loud noisy machinery adjacent to the building that went on throughout the time we were there, it literally drove us away after wanting to enjoy the rest of the afternoon after the mini-cruise. The deli selection was soooooo limited we literally had only a few items to choose from for the picnic, and at exorbitant prices. had a similar experience with the poor selection on my last visit and had emailed the place requesting they improve their food selection, but it obviously fell on deaf ears. Even had to pay for paper plates and utensils or if we didn't we'd had to share one knife between four people. Staff were not pleasant or friendly, so never again.

Owl's Rest Olive and Lavender Farm

Owl's Rest is a boutique Olive and Lavender Farm. The farm sells a range of olive products as well as some unique and delicious food products derived from the farm's fruit trees. A key part of the farm's business is the cultivation and distillation of Lavender, Rose Geranium and Rosemary to produce pure essential oils and hydrosols. These herbal products are sold in their natural, pure form and also serve as key ingredients in the range of gentle personal care products offered at Owl's Rest.

Attracted by mostly positive TA reviews, we eventually found Owl's Rest, sort of midway between Robertson and Ashton (Look for a brown sign with many attraction symbols at Klassvoogsdrivier junction to the north of the R60 and follow about 1.5km). A small operation, but a most pleasant welcome and a simple freshly made cheese and olive tasting platter that made a change from the several winery visits we had already sampled on our trip. Managed by a very friendly couple, there is a small shop with locally branded lavender products. A nice relaxing (non alcoholic!) lunch hour

I love champagne and other sparklers and was keen to sample Graham Beck's MCCs. The estate is gorgeous, modern and elegant from the grounds to the tasting room. We were seated at a bar overlooking the garden and I sampled 5 wines for R75 - starting with the non-vintage Brut, the superb Brut Rosé, a lovely 2011 Rosé redolent of strawberries, an elegant 2012 Blanc de Blanc and the luscious 2011 Cuveé Clive (80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir), my favorite of all. I wish I could find this wine where we live, it's a great value.

We were delighted by the really good price of some really outstanding wines.
Dive into the specials bin for some ridiculously cheap but very good quality bottles (one euro fifty for a top class merlot). Award winning wines are available at a lesser price than can be had in the supermarkets and liquor stores, even in the nearby towns.
We were surprised and delighted by the bobotie wrap in the adjacent restaurant. It was very well cooked in traditional style, and bursting with authentic and perfectly balanced flavours.
The beef pie was similarly hearty and well presented, very much in local home cooking style.
Perfectly located for a light lunch when driving out from Cape Town, this pitstop will have you carefully calculating how many bottles you will be consuming before you head home, and how many you can fit in your suitcase… don’t miss it.

Robertson Wine Cellar

Reviewed By Sam d - Western Cape, South Africa

I arrived with preconceived ideas about wine co-ops and wine factories and was pleasantly surprised by the products of Robertson Wine cellar. We were heartily welcomed by two very friendly and knowledgeable ladies at nine on a Sunday morning and had a most interesting tasting. We loved the chardonnays on offer and a lot of us invested in their wonderful Riesling - what a great wine! The red wines were such a surprise - full bodied, fruity and well made. Definitely a place where I will stop again and again to fill my car with great classy wines at very reasonable prices.
