At the bottom of the old limestone mine, acusticts are fantastisc and has a magical framing. Dalhallas vertical rock walls makes the consert experience unique. Very varied program, opera to rock. If you have chance go listen to a tribute to Pink Floyd.

That's my favourite place in Rättvik! I visited beginning of February so the whole lake was frozen! You've got a great view from out there and can also spot Rättvik church. But it can be quite windy in winter, so dress warm!

This is a loop you can do to see the waterfall. For a shorter version, you can go out and back (which is what we did, as our time was limited). It's a very pretty wooded walk with a great view of the falls. We had it all to ourselves on an evening in April.

Vidablick is situated in Rattvik in Dalecarlia. It gives you an excellent view over Lake Siljan and all its beautiful surroundings. You can chose to stay on the ground or climb the tower. I was there on a hot day, so stayed below. Got great photos from there as well. There is a nice little café where you can sit and enjoy the view. Try the icecream made in Dalecarlia. When I was there you could also buy homemade jams and marmelade for a low price.

Silverhill Stable

We decided to try this place out as opposed to other horseback riding companies, because Silverhill Stable has real Swedish horses. Most other places we look at in Sweden had Icelandic horses, which are beautiful as well, but while in Sweden we wanted try the local horses.
Bertil is the owner of this company as well as our guide and he was great! He took us for a gorgeous journey through the countryside, pointing out berries and animal noises we heard along the way. Our horses were previously racing horses, so they were really excited when we got our chance to gallop and that was extra fun for us (galloping is not a requirement but we were excited that he offered it!). Silverhill Stable is located in a really scenic part of Sweden in an inland lake area, so this was a good reason to get off the beaten path and adventure northwest of Stockholm. Riding through the tall Forests with moss covered rocks was a dream come true and definitely more than we hoped for.
Bertil was a wonderful guide. He is super personable and made us feel right at home. After our ride, we chatted over homemade snacks and tea with him and his family. It really was a magical Swedish experience that made our trip that much more wonderful. If we return to Sweden, we will definitely visit him again. I really recommend it to anyone looking for some great horseback riding in a beautiful spot!

After the success of drilled oil wells in America, people were hoping to find oil in Sweden too. The large Lake Siljan was formed after a massive meteorite hit 377 millions of years ago, and it was hoped that the special geological features here meant there would be oil underground. In 1869, drilling was done a few kilometers north of Rättvik. No oil was found, but instead the drillers hit a pressurized water vein, which turned the drill hole into a natural Fountain that still sprays water up in the air today, almost 150 years later. It is a lovely, quiet spot in the woods next to a meandering stream. There is a wind shelter and a grill, so a great place to bring a picnic. In the wintertime, the spraying water creates fantastic ice sculptures.

Rattviks sommarrodel

Reviewed By Barbara E - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Last time I went on summer rodel track I was 8 years old and in Austria, so I was very excited when I heard about this location. We went, 3 adults and 2 children (8 and 12). All of them had never gone rodeling before. We all loved it!! Some practical info: nearby parking, enough parking spaces, reasonable prices (depending on how many tickets you buy approximately 5 euro per turn), a very small queue and a relatively long well maintained track. You can buy snacks (e.g. ice-cream) near the track but there is also a cafe with an outside Terrace with a view on the lake right next to the parking.
