The 10 Best Things to Do in Kololi, Gambia

April 9, 2018 Hector Krause

The beach town of Kololi is one of Gambia’s most popular vacation spots. Spend a day lolling on the golden sands, then explore “the Strip,” Kololi’s main throughfare, lined with restaurants, hotels and nightclubs. Brave the bush on a guided safari, chatter with the monkeys of Bijilo Forest Park and bargain for handmade treasures at the Senegambia Craft Market.

My husband and I booked 3 tours with arch tours, the fatala game reserve with sheriff, the makasuta cultural forest with maimuna and the camel safari with fantau (can't remember the spelling correctly sorry!!)
each one was amazing!!!
We were one the same tour as zoe m below and actually saw them on paradise beach a couple of days later while they were doing 4 in 1 one and us the camel safari.
Each tour was amazing in their own way and would definitely go again if we go back. The drivers were lovely and just a really perfect time. Sheriff really made us feel relaxed in the hustle and bustle of the ferry ride when it was packed!!
Mianuna was brilliant and hilarious and friendly and fantau was an Amazing guide and even held a snake at the reptile farm!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!

Basically a small forest where the uneducated selfish tourist can come and ruin the local "wildlife" with the encouragement of the local guides/bumsters.
I wonder what the now totally dependent "friendly" monkeys eat in the low season when the selfish tourists are trashing somewhere else.
To anyone who has a photo of themselves or the family feeding the "friendly" monkeys peanuts if you'd like a photo of what these monkeys look like once people like you leave please drop me a line and I'll forward one to you. Be aware though I don't think you'd use words such as delightful or friendly to describe them anymore, but what do you care you've got your shot to show them down the pub.

My Mum, my brother and I went to George Town with Lamin at Black & White Safari Tours. Lamin is a lovely man and is very knowledgeable, we learnt so much about The Gambia from him and enjoyed his company so much that we requested him for our next trip to Fathala National Park and the Roots tour. We would recommend Black & White Safari Tours to anybody visiting the Gambia. Armstrong and his team are extremely professional and can't do enough for you. They're willing to fit the trips around you and what you want to do, for example they squeezed the Fathalla Park and Roots tour into one day for us as we were only there for 1 werk and didnt have enough time to do everything we wanted to do. The groups are small and personal (to George Town was just the 3 of us and Lamin and Bax the driver) and an amazing experience. One tip, take lots of pens, pencils, paper etc for the children in the villages. It is not the same villages receiving gifts over and over again, we visited villages that rarely ever have visitors as there are so many along the way. I only wish we had taken more gifts as the look on the faces of the children and their families is life changing. I will definitely return to the Gambia and use Black & White Safari for any trips we do. :)

Tour Gambia

A very warm welcome to The Gambia – the smiling coast of West Africa – from your personal, professional tour guide Modou Barry. The Gambia, the smallest country on Mainland Africa, is just six hours away from major European destinations and being on the same time zone you will not experience any jet lag. It is an increasingly popular and affordable winter destination, attracting visitors.

We heard about Mo through another hotel guest. On our last day we went with Mo to the Serrekunda market. He is a really kind person and works hard to provide for his whole family. A really modest guy who also takes care for his car a lot. If you want, Mo can bring you somewhere and pick you up, but he can also take you on tours. His guidance at the Serrekunda market was very helpfull. We felt safe and Mo also helped to make honest prices for us ;)
