Top 10 restaurants in George Town, Cayman Islands

August 21, 2017 Malia Yoakum

Georgetown is the capital of the Cayman Islands and one of the most popular cruise ship destinations in the Caribbean, thanks to its year-round tropical weather, white sand beaches and clear blue waters. Don't miss Stingray City and diving and snorkeling near the coral reef. Georgetown offers plenty of duty-free shopping, restaurants and cafes. If you can pull yourself away from the beach, try an excursion to one of the West Indies' few remaining tropical rain forests.

Casanova by the Sea

Reviewed By GaryFahs - Flower Mound, Texas

Be prepared for a wonderful dining experience when you visit Casanova. The location on the beach overlooking the water sets the tone for the wonderful food and service. Everything is good, deciding is difficult. I had a linguini with shrimp, lobster and calamari and it had wonderful flavor and the portion was plentiful. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert is the best on the island. The wine list is very nice and encompasses a price range that is very fair for the Caymans. I will be back again and again and highly recommend this outstanding restaurant. Lastly you are treated as family and the do a nice feeding of the tarpons and let children join in the experience

My wife and I had the opportunity to dine at Blue during a recent stay at the Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman. This restaurant is not to be missed. From start to finish an absolutely amazing experience. The staff was friendly and engaging. The sommelier was knowledgeable and they had an absolutely incredible wine list. There were options regarding tasting menus. We went with the “blue” menu which was centered around locally sourced fish. It was one of the finest tasting menus that I’ve ever experienced. We did it with the wine pairings which were all carefully and beautifully matched. The flavors were delicate and the fish was perfectly prepared often served with absolutely delicious French style sauces to add an extra layer of richness. We also went with the additional $50 truffle shavings which was well worth it. I have been to LeBernardin and found this restaurant to be much more relaxed and less “business like“. The decor was beautiful. The pre-dinner craft cocktail was absolutely amazing. Again highly recommend this restaurant which is a true jewel in Grand Cayman.

I always stay at the Marriott across the street, but I also always make sure to go to Cimboco. It's affordable and delicious Caribbean food, but also has plenty of food Americans are accustomed to. They also have a brick-oven and as you would imagine it makes a delicious pizza. I miss the gelateria that used to be next door, but I'm so happy that Cimboco has thrived.

After a mornings snorkeling we were recommended to visit this place. It was ideal for a lunchtime hangout. Good choice of beer, helpful staff and tasty food. The fish tacos were delicious plus coconut shrimps as well as the frozen key lime pie.
All with a great view of the sea and music which was thankfully not too loud.

The Brasserie

Reviewed By TravellingBritNY - Syracuse, New York

My partner and I visited for a Birthday dinner in the middle of the week. We have dined here several times in the past and always had a good to great experience. This one turned out to be more on the "great" end.
Julia, our server, was a wonderful representative of the business. She was cheerful, polite and extremely knowledgeable about all of the offerings on the menu.
I started with a Cayman Swanky (a cocktail that I discovered here), and the curried carrot soup, followed by the Beef Wellington, and the Panna Cotta for dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection, and plated very nicely. Flavours were perfectly on point.
I love the approach of this place - they own their own fishing boats, bee hives, chicken coup and Gardens, and they source everything else from small producers. They care passionately about their food, and that shows. For people who really care about food, this is one of, if not the best restaurant on Grand Cayman, in my opinion.

The Lobster Pot

Reviewed By tawney112 - Waterloo, Iowa

We decided last minute to try this place as we'd been talking about it all week. We didn't have Reservations, which we thought we'd probably end up eating inside (which was fine) but we got lucky and got a table right above where they feed the tarpon each night. The view over the water is stunning. Their outdoor Seating area is beautiful - candles, canopies overhead, just perfect. Our server was very attentive. We started with ceviche which was perfect (we needed more chips, but thankfully we had bread leftover). Different than other ceviches that we'd had but it was absolutely delicious.
For the main course, my husband had the catch of the day, blackened and I splurged and had the 'trio'. Absolutely the best shrimp I've ever had and the lobster was amazing. So so worth it.
The tarpon feed was great - there were quite a few kids eating there (all perfectly behaved) and they let the kiddos feed the fish. Super cute.
Only downside was the cab situation - they said they were calling us a cab but it never showed up so we ended up walking back to our resort (not the end of the world - it was a beautiful night).
