Bahia (locally [baˈi.ɐ]) is one of the 26 states of Brazil and is located in the northeastern part of the country on the Atlantic coast. Awesome place to visit. One of my favourite places in southern Brazil. A must see if your near Salvador. We spent 3 days in Lencois and did the Pai Inacio lookout, poco Azul, Morro do Diabo swimming hole and Rancador all without a tour guide and it was fantastic. It woukd be great to stay longer however with limited time three days still ghves you time to see main attractions.Most of the sites can be seen without a tour guide. Just download the app Maps.me and it will give u the trails. Highly recomend!

This was by far the highlights of my trip to Chapada Diamantina National Park I hired a skilled guide from 'Trilhas Chapada' who took great care of as we made our 2-hour trek to the Fumaca Waterfall. This was quite hard as you go through different terrains. I could not have done it without the encouragement of Juliano Silva Neves! In fact, there are guides who take advantage of your fatigue and encourage you to turn back. That way they get your money all the same - they have seen these beauty spots so many times!! This was not the case with Juliano who made sure I actually appreciated Fumaca from different angles. The trail to get to the fall is a little over 3km. The last part is the hardest, down the rocks. But when you find yourself inside this cauldron, you will forget the difficulties. It’s a huge fall and it feels like the water is held in this pan-shaped pool. Absolutely marvelous.

The place is definitely worth the climb through a somewhat hard trail. Although there are wooden steps in some parts, most of it is over rocks and large stones. On the top, you will be blessed with a 360° view of the valleys and other mounts around it. Really stunning. On the bad side, there are no facilities other than a shack selling drinks and industrialized snacks. The lack of a decent toilet is absolutely incomprehensible.
