Dog owner unfriendly

Reviewed By Sandra M

I booked and paid for a riverfront powered site online. On arrival to the park I was told that dog owners can not stay on the riverfront. A refund which would be my preference was not possible . Our site as dog owners was in the back of the park near the noisy road - not even close to the river. It should be made very clear on the website that sites for dog owners are very restricted and inferior. I don’t understand why pet owners cannot be allocated a section of waterfront. Perhaps by the responses I have now read on TripAdvisor by the owners - we should feel so lucky to be allowed to stay here with a pet. I would prefer upfront information that allows me to make an informed decision about staying in this park. No TV reception. Workmen using electric saws and nail guns within 50 meters of our site on extensions to the park.

Overnight stay here. Excellent location, clean, tidy and everything you’ll need. We felt safe and comfortable. No food services on site but a short walk down the road we found the clock tower hotel. Great food. Undercover car parking. Microwave, Tea and coffee available. The lady receptionist could not be more helpful. Thank you

Not a "resort" at all, big con

Reviewed By sarahknfam

We have recently stayed at Ballina Beach Eco Village for 4 nights. I was shocked on arrival at the dingy state of our quarters and immediately wrote an email to the manager. $347 a night I paid. I expected a beautiful pool area, modern cabin with clean amenities and fun experiences for my kids. What we got was a very run down cabin, with the oldest, worn out couch for only 2 where I had specified we are a group of 5, an indoor table that had 3 chairs which was in terrible condition, a smattering of cutlery and plates, and the grossest looking bathroom I have experienced in any accomodation ever, full of mould, falling apart tiles and the toilet was absolutely disgusting, worse than a public toilet. Kids bunks were unmade, sheets just thrown on and were a killer to make. Their doonas were awful!! Huge covers on lumpy, ill fitting doonas, that would not lay flat. Everything was old, old, old. No DVD. TV did not work and when it was "fixed" after complaining again, it was still too glitchy. One roll of loo paper! I gave up on complaining because it was obvious they didn't care. The comparison of their website photos showing beautiful rooms and pools etc and the stark reality of the tired, old cabin we were given was highly upsetting. I complained to the manager, expecting some kind of response. Nothing. I approached him in person since he clearly ignored my email, he said nothing he can do because I booked though booking.com. Sent pics and the complaint to booking.com and they came back with "The manager says the price is fair for this time of year". No. It's not at all. We made the best of our stay but I was super disappointed. Pool cloudy, over chlorinated, full of sand. My kids, husband and I collected a full bag of rubbish from the beach track adjoining the property. Seems no one there cares about the environment despite it being "eco" friendly. Don't waste your precious holiday time and money here.

Nice Quiet Guesthouse

Reviewed By bdg100

The heritage guest house is on large grounds with beautiful gardens. Bedrooms are large and spacious. There are 5-6 individual rooms in the main cottage and 3-4 individual studio. The negative is there is no kettle or coffee service provided inside the room. Having to go to the common kitchen early in the morning is not acceptable for a guesthouse with this rating or tariff.

Girls night away

Reviewed By 810letishah

Had a night booked that had to be rescheduled cause of rain and the host gayle was lovely enough to do that for us and ended up going a month later and still had the rain before we arrived but the weekend weather we were there was amazing, but In saying that we found the location quite isolated from anything other than the pub next door which essentially very quiet and didn’t have much to offer and the River across the road from accommodation, for $350 per night I would of expected a lot more including there was no pay tv the outdoor furniture chairs were all covered in bird poo including the verandah rails, the entire accommodation was very basic for the price. So In saying that gayle The accommodation manager was lovely and very helpful but then the actual accommodation is somewhere we we won’t be staying again.

Our family of 2 adults and 3 children stayed for 3 nights in Deluxe Cabin 1. The convenience of this cabin for kids was amazing as it overlooked the huge pool with a lovely deck and comfy chairs and a big table on our balcony. The facilities where fantastic for our 3 young children. They thoroughly enjoyed the putt putt, park and tennis court and spent lots of time in the pool. An incredible amount of effort has been put into this facility to cover all the minor details like shade over the putt putt and main sections of the play equipment, beautiful gardens a convenient bbq area with lots of seating. Te the owner was accommodating and went to great lengths to make our stay comfortable. THANKYOU for your years of hard work to create a peaceful place for guests and we wish you all the best through these challenging COVID times for business.

Noisy and rubbish carpark. Nice room though

Reviewed By dajolani

We had a weekend in Newcastle and chose here to stay. Location is handy to train station and pubs but gets noisy at night from revellers and the constant slamming a door downstairs. Don’t book to carpark unless you have a small car - it’s double stacked on a scissor lift and very tight and complicated. Rooms though are well appointed and clean.

Not great

Reviewed By riccus8

We were looking for a no fuss functional hotel for 1 night so as we could access the sporting stadium, near by. We didn't expect the nova tel but ,on acquiring our room we immediately had issues with no switch or remote to turn the fan off/on and no lights. We then acquired the remote but it didn't work. It took 2 attempts to finally get the remote to work. We then also noticed that the ceiling had a water leak, as it was raining that day. It was consistently dripping onto the carpet at the foot of the bed,we complained about the leak, they couldn't change our room and basically there was nothing they could do. We had to endure that painfully all night. When we booked the hotel on line ,it was booked at the online price of $85.00 but we were charged $95.00 .Unfortunately I didn't check the bill till after we left, which was early in the morning so I couldn't talk to anyone over it. Over all quite disappointing
