The 10 best Specialty lodgings in Maryland, United States

April 18, 2023 Layne Dawes

Maryland is known as “America in Miniature” because of its great variations in topography and culture. This makes it a perfect east coat travel destination for those who would like to experience a little bit of everything. From amusement parks, to beaches, to mountains and historical sites, there is plenty to see and do. Each region of Maryland provides its own unique and fun activities to do. If you're headed for some fun in the sun in Ocean City on its eastern coast, be sure not to miss the Ocean City Beach, the Boardwalk, or Trimper's Rides and Amusement Park for an all-ages fun experience. Central Maryland is home to a Six Flags theme park, the Annapolis Golf Club, and countless hubs of art and culture such as the African Art Museum and Annapolis Opera, Inc. Heading to western Maryland? It is perfect for lovers of nature and the outdoors, with the Washington Monument State Park, Wisp Resort ski slopes, and the spectacular Muddy Creek Falls.

This is a beautiful new property. Everything was nice. I only had 2 complaints and that is the balcony is beautiful however, the housekeeping staff should clean the spiderwebs that are accumulating on the rails and chairs out there. 2nd an Asian registrar at the front desk acted like she was afraid to touch my photo identification. She was very curt with me.. you never know who is coming to visit the property.. Not all celebrities or athletes frequent and regular people can afford the stay as well!! Other than that they definitely get 5 stars.

Was what we needed!

Reviewed By Mshchris

Just the thought of this place was different but it was actually what we needed. After you get over being in the house with other people, it was a pretty fine stay. We weren't bothered and we barely saw anyone else. We stayed in the Lux Room, which was decorated very nicely. that room had two entrances which I appreciated since the room is right next door to the downstairs kitchen. We were accommodated because we had a late check-in.I was sent a text message with all of the instructions. My only pet peeves were that in the text message it explained that if we needed extra towels and washcloths, they would be an extra $5 fee which wasnt expressed in the booking. Also in bathroom, the shower curtain had not been cleaned, but they did leave cleaning supplies out. And lastly the refrigerator was very old but we were able to place our belongings in there and they weren't disturbed. Overall it was a good stay and I'm actually interested to see what some of the other rooms look like so I'll definitely be back.

Worst timeshare unit evet

Reviewed By Larry M

If you have an opportunity to stay at this place, DON'T, or at least avoid room 304! This is probably the worst timeshare exchange we have ever stayed at. It was dirty and had many things wrong with it inside the unit. The kitchen didn't have enough items to make cooking very easy. The knife supply consisted of eight steak knives, not one larger chef or butcher knife. I got scalded in the shower about five times during my stay. The bathrooms were both disgusting. Master bedroom bath had a board nailed to the ceiling to keep out the water that was dripping from above. it didn't work. It would allow all kinds of black crud to drip into the tub when the shower was being run in the room above. Had to scrub it out every time we took our showers. there was a black substance around the faucet that appeared to be mold. The tub faucet fixtures in the tub of the second bedroom were backwards. The refrigerator was missing the shelf on the bottom and one of the veggie drawers was busted. Most of the outlets only had one working plug. The outside deck light didn't work and there were a bunch of bare wires hanging out of the wall. There were dirty handprints all over the inside of the glass door and windows. I was afraid to even touch anything before I sprayed it and wiped it all down the place was so dirty. The sliding glass door lock was broken. The entry door frame on the outside was busted. there was also a large lump on the floor inside the entry door that made our door screech every time it was opened. We had contacted them and they sent maintenance the first night. He couldn't address any of the situations other than a light bulb that was blown out in the second bedroom. He said he would have the manager come in the morning from maintenance and possibly move us to another room. we never heard one other word from anybody the rest of the week. One of the worst experiences ever for a timeshare rental. My suggestion is that they bulldoze the place and rebuild it from scratch!

Bay Farm lays on the Charm

Reviewed By delehanty

What a pleasant Suprise.I had the feeling I was in an English/ Western Home, very unique. Interior was carefully decorated, you could tell alot of thought went into making it just right. Our room had wood on one wall that was from our innkeepers grandfathers barn which gave it a very earthy feeling.Breakfast was very bountiful to behold as the morning sun shone thru the beautiful living room windows.I learned that Williamsport was originally where Washington D.C.was meant to be.That is why the Main St. is so wide,Amazing. The town is going thru a transformation & the Bay Farm family is a major part of it,so I'm sure it will be a big success. We only spent one night but it made a lasting impression on us,Thanks for that.

You won’t be disappointed

Reviewed By X274ZHmattf

My family and I stayed here for a night over Easter weekend to visit D.C. Everything about the experience was first rate, from calling to make the reservation because of the accommodations we needed, to the check in, to the check out, it was all professional and on point! Everyone working there was pleasant and respectful, they all went out of their way to help and make our stay enjoyable. The rooms were very clean and were stocked with everything you need. We did need more towels, and bedding for a roll away that were in the room ten min after we asked. The little store/snack area had everything you could ever want, it was like a mini grocery store. The breakfast was hot and had plenty to satisfy everyone’s differing appetites for sure. Plenty of parking, and the base is very easy to navigate. The part we really enjoyed is that the metro stop is right outside the one gate by the NEX, extremely quick in and out, very short walk if you park at the NEX just for the day while you are out exploring, if you are using the Metro as we did. Which I highly recommend, I prob will never drive around D.C. again. Plus your vehicle will be secure on a military base so you can put your mind at ease! We will be staying here again for sure, as long as they have availability prob every time we want to visit our nations capital! Thank you Navy Lodge!

Big for price

I’ve stayed here a few times. The prices are reasonable, compared to other Annapolis hotels. There is a little kitchenette for those staying longer. Breakfast items are in the lobby each morning as well. You do need masks in the hotel, rooms aside.

School Trip

As a student traveling for an eighth grade trip, it was a nice accommodation. The reviews make it worse than it is. The bunk rooms are nice with nice enough bathrooms and tables for luggage. The TVs do not work well, but we just played lots of cards. Breakfast was abundant. We stayed away from the eggs, sausage, and pancakes, but there was lots of cereal, donuts, and muffins that were awesome. Overall, a very nice stay, don't worry about bad rating

Did this as a day trip with husband and six friends. Highly recommend! Great if you can schedule for the sunset like we did and when there is a full moon! CREAK! FLOOR STRAIN!

Reviewed By BrianF273

If you’ve stayed in Army base hotels, you know the pluses & minuses. The problem here is that we heard EVERY CREAK, BED SPRING, & FOOTSTEP from the room above us as if it was picked up with a microphone & blasted over speakers in our room. It was like an SNL skit or the noisy scenes in ‘My Cousin Vinny.’ Almost funny if it hadn’t woken us up all night.
