Good and Bad

Check in was easy, not recognized as a Diamond Member nor given a bottle of water, but whatever. The room was fine, a little odd - with two bathrooms? They were so small and no counter space at all, so it would make more sense to just give the room a big bathroom, no?? Anyway, would have given 4 stars but I have to say the young woman in the gift shop is such a cranky and unfriendly person!! Not just a bad day, b/c two evenings in a row she was just plain nasty. When I'm paying $7 for a freaking $2 bottle of water, she might want to cheer up a bit. Really off-putting. Won't be back.

The location may not save any time

Reviewed By VNORVI

It is definitely close to the airport BUT when I arrived there were 30(!) people in line and 3 check in people. It took almost an hour to get my room. So, any advantage of the location is lost. The shuttle to and from the nearby Marriott would have the same time to get to my room. The rooms are basic. About the same as a holiday inn. Small. But I guess nobody comes here for the ambiance.

Run Down and overpriced

Stayed for 4 nights during business trip and got this for 239 US per night: no hotel breakfast facility open (cue for 15 min at Starbucks every morning to get a coffee), room was not cleaned once during my stay, no towel change etc, run down overall impression with the „charme“ of a motel of the 70ies , once I told the receptionist about my experience at check-out he turned away and pretended to have other things to do. No idea why Marriott keeps this hotel in the franchise nor why it deserves the suffix „Resort“ - Never again !!!

The perfect first ski trip for the kids:)

Reviewed By Quest546521

I typically do not write reviews, but I felt that after searching through these reviews before my trip, I needed to. There just weren't many that I felt were very helpful. We spent last weekend at Chestnut Mountain. It was so much fun! The resort is old like most reviews state, but it didn't hinder our trip in any way. Beds were comfy, The bathrooms were small but we just didn't spend enough time in there to care. The proximity was perfect. We were in the building closest to the ski center which is also the same building the pool in is. couldn't have been more convenient. We could just walk outside and go down some steps and ski off:) The reason we choose this resort is the Powder Pup program that they do. They take the kids for 3 hours and teach them to ski. The instructors were all so great and the kids absolutely loved it! We enjoyed that 3 hours to ski without them:) Worth every penny! Everyone at the resort was so friendly and helpful. Especially those that helped outside on the slopes. You could tell everyone really loves their job which is refreshing! The pool, hot tub and sauna were fine. Nothing spectacular but kids don't need spectacular to be happy and have fun. We ate at both the bar & grill as well as the cafeteria. Both were good. The town of Galena isn't too far away and there are tons of places to eat in there as well. Not to mention it is such a cute town. We had the best weekend and we will definitely be back next year!

Service at its Lowest

Reviewed By SaraMB19

We have only been at this hotel for 2 hours, but during this time, we witnessed an elderly guest fall and the front desk treat it as an inconvenience. It took a random samaritan for the guest to get what she needed. Furthermore, the front desk has hung up on multiple individuals rather than taking their call. Ultimately, you can have a nice facility but if minimal kindness is the bar, this is not worth the stay.

Awful upkeep, this place is trash!

Reviewed By MB2345678

We stayed in a villa/cabin off the main resort. So many problems occurred during our stay. The front door was broken, furniture was broken, the sink leaked, the posted last inspection was from 2019. While it was appreciated that staff worked with us and offered a new unit, we were already unpacked, only staying 3 nights, and traveling with children by the time that offer was made. The upkeep of this resort was awful and while stay attempted to be accommodating, we really should have never had these problems in the first place.
