Amazing location with beautiful sunrises

I had read some negative reviews about Mas del Mar, so I felt a bit nervous about our booking there but in the end it was a wonderful stay. We had a suite on the first floor with access to the terrace which was amazing as I could go outside in the morning and watch the sunrise over the sea and then go back inside to sleep a little more! The location really is the best thing - near the beach and near the river. It's a beautiful, quiet location. You can hear the waves washing onto the beach and there are lots of birds around the pond in the garden. The house is rustic and full of charm. In the evenings the fire was lit in the lounge and we enjoyed sitting by the fire and relaxing. Our bedroom was very comfortable, cosy and warm and the bed was comfortable. The shower was clean and had lots of hot water with good water pressure. The walls at Mas del Mar are VERY thin, so you can hear what your neighbours are doing as well as hearing people walking around above you. I think it's worth those inconveniences though. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't pay for breakfast - we took our own food which we ate on the terrace. It would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but the staff will give you hot water if you take your own tea and they have a coffee vending machine downstairs too. I wish we could have stayed for longer.

Hotel Rural & Spa Mas Prat

Mas Prat is a country house surrounded by green meadows and forests where, some months of the year, over one hundred cows graze. The house is divided into different levels. One level consists of four double-rooms and another level has one triple-room and one quadruple-room. This allows for those couples who may wish so, to be more quiet and enjoy a more appropriate environment for their demands, while families with children may use the other level, making both options compatible. Also, a working group wishing to have a private space may use a whole floor for themselves. We would like to make your stay in Mas Prat de Castellar a unique experience and that is why the rooms have been conceived to foster a feeling of peace and tranquillity. Each room is different and has many details; they are all en-suite, some of them have a shower and some a bath tub, and they all have a hair-drier, TV with DVD reader and heating. The air-conditioning has been installed in the living-rooms whilst all rooms have ceiling fans. We did not try to make luxurious rooms, but comfortable, creative and charming ones.

A jewel to be discovered.

We were looking for a base camp to tour around the beautiful Garrotxa region and its Medieval villages (Beget, Rupit, Besalú, Castelfollit de la Roca, etc.) and we found this place not through the usual websites but on Google Maps. Lucky us. And lucky our dogs too (they welcome well-behaved dogs for a small fee and they are free to roam around except on the dining areas; ours ended up good friends with their's, the gorgeous Pellut). Our stay was nothing short of wonderful. This mountain lodge is situated on a terrenal paradise situation, overlooking the Bianya Valley range, where sunrises are to die for. The infinite pool was too cold to use in winter, but it added a magical mirror effect to the terrace. Two horses grazed in the park, adding to the picturesque effect. Room heating was excellent and water pressure also, the latter not all that common among mountain lodges. Cleanliness was great too. But asides from the natural peace and beautiful surroundings, two things make it stand out: one, the food, which wouldn't pale in comparison to any great city restaurant (and based on proximity/eco ingredients). Breakfast invites to loosen your belt a couple notches, and dinner is just awesome. There are many options to choose from, but the Granny-style free range chicken, the vegetable terrine and the carpaccio of Garrotxa veal were something to write home about. And the other factor that makes this place special, obviously the most important one, is the attitude and charm of the owners/managers, Roser and Héctor, who love what they do, making each guest feel at home from the very moment they step foot on the property. I guess the word "care" is what describes them best: they care for the visitors, care for the property, care for the food and care for the environment. If you want to disconnect while not giving up comfort and really feel welcome, this is your place.

Bassegoda Park

Bassegoda Park is a first category camping and bungalow park located in Albanyà (Alt Empordà), next to the natural park Parc d'Espais d'Interès Natural de l'Alta Garrotxa, at just 7 km to the beautiful medieval town of Sant Llorenç de la Muga and only at 25 km from Figueres, the city of the famous painter Salvador Dalí. Its unique location, next to the River Muga, allows you to be in permanent contact with the nature and to practice many different activities such as adventure sports, fishing, hunting, hiking, horse riding, four-wheel drive, etc. Moreover we are the mountain bike information point of the area and one of the long way hikes GR-11 passes next to our campsite. This tremendous landscape full of peace, that represents one of the most virgin areas of the Empordà, will make your experience unique for both adults and children.

Didn’t match expectations

Too expensive for what is offered. Activities are poor, specially for Children under 8. Bungalows are old and not really tiddy. Wifi is expensive (additional cost) and terrible bad connection. Swimming pool is too crowed (problaby due to poor activities offer). Half Board is pathetic: only pastries offered for breakfast and lunch/dinner for children is every day the same (rice, nuggets, beefsteak & fries and ice cream)... very healthy! Location is great, surrended by nature, close to river and good to explore astronomy.

Sucio y con mal olor

Reviewed By Cruela D

No volveremos. Una pena porque el sitio podría ser muy bonito si estuviera mínimamente limpio, y más en época covid.....

My husband, our Labrador and I stopped for one night and wish we could have stayed longer. The Mas is a unique place and we were made to feel completely at home. Our dog was welcome everywhere and he obviously enjoyed himself. We had a super comfy bedroom and Milo was given his own bed, he accompanied us to supper which was delicious and breakfast the following morning was amazing, so much choice, a true Catalan feast ! We are very much looking forward to a return visit and thank everyone at the Mas for their kindness.

Not that awesome

This was always going to be something different, so we weren't surprised by the farm or its animals, we were surprised, though, at how it bore little resemblance to the main photo on website. Probably why we drove past the main building without recognising it! Clearly taken a long time ago, since the whole place, particularly outside needs a lot of TLC. Little care has been shown to things like outside furniture, which proved to be an attractive option for enjoying sunset drinks. Not much English is spoken, but we got there eventually, our room, fortunately we had a the ground floor room, usually assigned for disabled guests, was quaint, the bed comfortable, and the room is quite dark, but how on earth anyone could shower using a hand held shower beats me. Dinner is not available at this property although it does mention to the contrary, there are options, but the Local Social, a 10 minute drive, not a walking option really, was good, basic but good, with a really good selection of local wines in the supermarket next door. We were a bit fazed to find our room servicing had been forgotten, and that on the morning on our departure, we were left to it when just as we sat down to another lovely breakfast, the staff member excused herself and promptly left us to it!
