The 10 best Motels in Redding, United States

April 20, 2023 Karren Gelb

There's a variety of water sports in Redding, from whitewater rafting on the Sacramento River to waterskiing, swimming, fishing and sailing on Shasta Lake, one of four magnificent manmade lakes in this northeastern California town. When you're ready to dry off, there are also plenty of land-based activities, like camping or hiking in the national forests and parks, following walking trails through the 220-acre arboretum or spending time exploring two fascinating parks: Shasta State Historic Park and Turtle Bay Exploration Park. At Shasta State, you'll find the ghost town of Shasta City from the Gold Rush days, complete with restored stagecoach, barn and courthouse, with eerie reminders of where prisoners were kept and sometimes hanged. The ever-expanding 300-acre Turtle Bay Park houses the recently opened Turtle Bay Museum, with extraordinary hands-on exhibits focusing on the environment and an outstanding collection of American Indian baskets. The kids will love the park's Paul Bunyan's Forest Camp, which includes a playground, logging and ecology exhibits and the popular summer butterfly house, where the fragile winged creatures flit about and alight on welcoming visitors.

A very pleasant stay

It was just a one night stay as I traveled from Los Angeles to Oregon for work but it was a restful one. Accommodations were clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here every time I travel through the area.

We got into the room.had a weird smell.yes, it's a smoking room.so I let it go.went into the bathroom, the corners are full of dirt.sat on the bed.i can see under the other bed.it looked like a ball of hair and crumbs and lots of dust.the walls are dirty, cob webs in all the corners. Called to the front and I felt like it was an inconvenience for someone to sweep the room. Would not come back. Really dirty. Motel from H***

Reviewed By CharlesM179

Let me start with the fact that the Lodge/ Hotel is really a Motel. The no-smoking room wasn't. Everything from the drapes to the toilet paper smelled like cigarettes. The A/C worked but was too noisy and the closet had no door and no hangars. The floor creeked and the room was dark and grungy. The bed sagged. The hallway was dark and littered with leaves and trash. I was afraid that my car might be broken into during the night and moved it near the office. which isn't manned 24/7. I have since promised the wife never to do that again.

Clean, comfortable 1950's style motel

Reviewed By sfdoc

This is not the Ritz Carlton but we had a very pleasant stay there last night. Our (#218) was very basic, but clean, and comfortable. It was 103 outside, but the A/C was on for us when we checked in and kept us plenty cool our whole stay. The king bed was comfortable and the sheets, bedding and towels are good quality. There is some outdoor chairs for cooler weather and we had trees outside and could see both the bridge and some water. We had dinner at the restaurant which was surprisingly good also (basic choices: steak, salmon, pasta, chicken, fish and chips etc.).

Management is terrible

Reviewed By emsO428IY

Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to stay. Its nice, being re-modeled, but the problem is with the management. If you have a problem, don't expect the management to do ANYTHING for you. I stayed 1 night in August. The room was not clean at all. The bathroom still had urine in the toilet and rotting food in the fridge. When I called (several times) to get a refund for terrible management during a pandemic, the manager refused to return my calls. He is more interested in profit than customer satisfaction. Dont bother with him. You are no concern of his...just your money.

NOPE!

Reviewed By Caribou_Lodge_Team

It's crazy that in 2020 our country still has motels without refrigerators and microwaves. But that's OK, at least our towels & bed sheets had someone else's hairs on them... NOTE: in the photos you'll see hair on the shower wall & thr towel. WE DID NOT USE EITHER! 2 tips: when your wife says "I am not showering here!" You've failed! And motel 6 is not family friendly. Our room was non-smoking, but the vents brought in plenty of second hand smoke from the hooligans outside standing by our vehicle. Lesson learned!

This weekend night, everything was crazy expensive especially for seniors traveling through and stopping for one night. Bit the bullet and stopped here for the night. Yes, a true budget motel but very clean and we felt safe staying here. The young man apologized for no breakfast in the morning but did offer to make a breakfast bag and offered fixings for a cup of coffee. Room was well lit and very clean. Would stop here again if traveling through. Room did have a small fridge and microwave, for convenience.
