Great place - Great staff.

Reviewed By Al K

We definitely like this place. Clean, great vibe, great staff. We opened for a larger king room. It is very comfortable. Keep in mind, this place is not on the lake. It is across the street. And there are great restaurants walking distance. The lobby area has a nice hang area with 5 local taps. A nice touch. There are outdoor fire pits and indoor fire places to gather near. Tess and Jenny at the front desk were so helpful and had great recommendations on where to walk/hike and where to eat. We would recommend this place.

No Response to Text Messages for Checking In - SLEPT OUTSIDE IN MY CAR!!!

Reviewed By hostel_lover

After booking on hoteltonight.com at least 24 hours prior, I received no communication from the hotel regarding the check-in process. When we arrived after hours, there was a sign with a number to text for checking in so we texted and waited, and waited, and then called the front desk number, texted again, called Hotel Tonight and finally texted again in total desperation. I received no help from anyone and ultimately ended up sleeping in my car with my family and dog and huddled together for warmth in the freezing temperatures on New Year's Eve. To this day, there has been no acknowledgement from the hotel to my text messages. We were in such desperation that when another guest came back to their room and saw us, they offered us water, bathroom and their cell phone number in case we needed to warm up. Yeah, that bad!!!! I read the previous reviews but I'm pretty easy and flexible and figured - "how bad can it be?" A downright horrible nightmare if you can't check-in!!!! Don't use Hotel Tonight for booking and don't stay here! Learn from my mistake and the mistakes of all the others. Trust the bad reviews.

Old-School & Affordable

Reviewed By Satisfaction7

For some travelers/families, Lake Tahoe resort prices can be out of reach. Thankfully, this affordable old-school motel offers clean accommodations and a swimming pool and is a short walk from a wonderful beach. Because the US is seeing heat wave temperatures this summer, keep in mind, this motel does NOT have air conditioning. Even after a hot day our room cooled down nicely in the evening using the fans provided. This would be a perfect low-cost skier's room in the winter. Nearby within walking distance: ice cream stands, burgers and fries, mini golf, Jason's lakeside dining, 7-11, bear-themed souvenirs, Tahoe t-shirt shops, Mexican restaurant. It was a pleasure to meet Neil at the front desk. We will return next year.

New management, Not people-people

Reviewed By happyfeetx

I have liked the property and room sizes for the price point, and the renovations are nice. HOWEVER, the new management company, and consequently, the on-site management have become robotic in their treatment of good, and repeat customers. I can't even say that with the new management company, they have turned corporate, because I can stay down the road at a Marriott property and they'll let me check-in early, and even late sometimes, as late as 4pm. And the independent lodges right around Firelite are way more flexible as well! I have stayed 1-2 times per month over the last year. My last visit in February, I asked to check out at noon instead of 11am. I was told I could do that for $50 extra, no leeway, even though I said I had a zoom meeting and would leave right after. The price of the room is $150, so this is a 30% mark-up for 1 hour! Furthermore, I typically stay during the week, so the HOTEL is not busy, and my room as one of a few that might need to be cleaned for Thursday check-ins could easily be pushed back to 2 or 3pm. I had reservations for two nights the next week and even when I told them I would cancel these, they insisted I'd have to pay the $50. Since these dates in early Feb., I have stayed in Northlake Tahoe for a total of nine nights. And will stay even more in March for a combo of biz and pleasure. I guess it's worth it to them to loose thousands of dollars in biz, just to be unreasonable and have some flexibility with good customers.

Weekend Wedding

Reviewed By theflautist10

I recently stayed at the Franciscan Lakeside Lodge for a wedding. The lodge is a nice place. I'm not sure if it was the location of the lodge I stayed in, or the lodge itself but there were some weird noises that happened from time to time...especially at night. It honestly could have been the sound of a bear, walking around but they also sounded like plumbing noises. I'm not too sure. Either way, that was a bit strange. Make sure you have all of your room supplies before the front office people leave at 9 PM. If you need extra towels, blankets, etc., there is nobody in the office after 9 PM who can give you what you need. It would be nice if the room attendants put extra blankets in the closet - when my friends and I were going to bed our first night, we were looking for extra blankets in the closet and there weren't any. My friend who slept on the rollaway bed didn't have enough sheets to keep her warm. That was disappointing. In general we had a nice time! It was a beautiful venue for the wedding.

Short family vacay-(Actually July 2015)

Reviewed By DM M

My daughter & I had no choice but to stay here for one night, since my car needed repairs, & every other place was booked. This place is like something out of a horror movie! The room we were given had no A/C, & it was really HOT! The crankster "manager" at that time, wanted us to pay cash up front, (which went into her pocket). She offered us a roll away bed, since there was only one bed. We came back from dinner, only to find it sitting out in front of the room, covered with some big, nasty bugs! The window was in the bathroom, which had NO screen on it, & could have very easily been climbed into, from behind the motel, since it was only about 3 1/2' from the filthy alley in back, which was fully of empty liquor bottles! I hope this wretched dump has improved, but I doubt it. I'd actually sleep in my car, before staying there again!

Tamarack Lodge

In our 93rd year, Tamarack Lodge offers 21 rooms and cabins at surprisingly affordable prices. On nearly four acres of land one mile east of Tahoe City, we are at the edge of Burton Creek State Park, and are near everything you want to see in North Tahoe. There is also plenty to do right here on our own property. Families and groups love it here, and we are pet friendly too. Our "Poker Rooms" and cabins are genuinely "Old Tahoe". The cabins have full kitchen and are great for a weekend or a week. Our King and Double Queen rooms are spacious and comfortable. All rooms have microwave ovens and refrigerators; many have kitchens. Bring your boat! We have plenty of parking and boat launching is just 60 seconds away. Bring your bike and boots too. Mountain and road trails leave from here. We're 15 minutes from downhill skiing, or head out the back door with your nordic skis or snowshoes. We have been family owned since 1927, and are committed to treating you well.

Great Location & Great Price

Reviewed By liadinunzio

WHY I LOVED IT: We attended a wedding at the West Shore Cafe & Inn this weekend, and the Lodge at Obexer’s was the perfect location to stay! It is exactly a 0.2 mile walk between both locations. (If you walk on the bike road it is safer and you can keep your dance shoes clean)! Their property manager was great at communication. He texted us before our arrival with some check-in instructions and offered to help with recommendations. The price was great. Although they have a minimum 3 night stay- it was STILL less expensive to do 3 nights than 2 at the other area hotels (By approximately $60) The room was clean and basic. All you need if you’re looking for a place to sleep and freshen up between beaching and boating. Although there aren’t all the “hotel” amenities onsite, there are plenty across the street. RECOMMENDATIONS: - Jetski We walked across the street and rented jet-skis from Obexer’s Boat Co. that was super fun, highly recommend. - Obexer’s Deli is across the street too. They have premade sandwich’s, liquor, and many other items you may need. Their coffee is good too. - Make sure you stop into their shop next door & pick up some good gear! Great hats and T-shirt’s. -Check out the Eagle Rock hike down the road (not walking distance). It’s a very short 15 minute hike up to a beautiful look-out point. As long as you’re healthy you should be fine! A lot of elderly people and toddlers on the trail, great family hike. -Chambers Landing: for a classic Chamber’s Punch drink & dinner. Make reservations ahead of time, or show up an hour early, put your name on the list, and then wait at the bar. We Uber’ed here. There aren’t many Uber’s available in the area- so wait times are higher, but we didn’t have any issues finding one.
