The 10 best Lodges in Oklahoma, United States

April 19, 2023 Malia Yoakum

With hundreds of man-made lakes, state parks, casinos, museums and nightlife and dining opportunities in revitalized downtown areas in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, there is a lot to see and do in the Sooner State. The state is dotted with phenomenal lakes where swimming, boating and bass fishing are the most desired activities. Some of the state’s most popular lakes include Broken Bow Lake located near the Quachita Mountains; Grand Lake in the northeastern corner of the state at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and Lake Murray in the hills in the southern part of the state. While the state is known for its many outdoor activities like great fishing, golf, hiking, canoeing and boating, make sure you don’t overlook its fantastic museums. Heading the list are Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, featuring the world’s largest collection of art and artifacts from the American West; the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, which tells the story of the American Cowboy; and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which has a permanent collection of American and European art. A venerable family favorite activity is Frontier City Amusement Park in Oklahoma City, which has dozens of rides and shows.

From an Old Man's POV

This place is definitely for you if you are on a tight budget. It's clean and quiet, but it definitely is not luxury. Everything is ground floor, a good feature for us old folks, but I didn't see anything that looked wheelchair friendly, there are no grab bars in the bath room, and the toilet was old fashioned, low, and round. Better check if you need a handicap room. No bells or whistles, but a good place to get a night's sleep.

Lovely

Reviewed By Charmimi11

I chose this place because of the deal and because a review said it had been updated. They were right. It was clean and in good condition, the fixtures were newer & shiny, they provided nice quality soap, etc., but it was beyond that. Normally in a lower price range hotel, you have a top sheet, a barely there blanket, and another sheet on top for a spread. This facility had nice quality sheets, a cozy fleece blanket, and on top a lovely gold satin comforter/bed spread with decorative pillows. It’s obviously that the owners/management takes pride in their facility. If I were going through this area again, I would absolutely choose to stay at Colonial Inn again.

Blissfully beautiful and serene

Reviewed By jenaspickle

Place was absolutely serene! Everything thing we needed was there, clean, and cozy! Our children caught fish to start off their Easter Sunday, followed by egg hunts, and s’mores. The only thing my family and I had to do was show up, and enjoy ourselves which we did down to the very last minute. We fell in love with this little slice of paradise, and are already planning our return trip! We made so many memories and will cherish them always! Thank you for a beautiful home away from home.

Mini Anniversary Vacation

Reviewed By sandmill88

We had heard of this lodge from my brother who has stayed here in the past. I called to ask about the cost and reserve our room even though I prefer to do that online. When we arrived we drove past the entrance and came back to it and then called to find out where the office was. We checked in and went to our room. The AC wasn’t on and it being July it was a hot day but the room cooled down pretty quick, well quick to me is a couple hours. The room was beautiful and we absolutely loved our stay and sat on the porch early in the morning and late evening. Cora helped us out with a suggestion of a restaurant for breakfast which was great as well. We will stay with them again. She said they are under new management and we would suggest that they make a cement walkway from the parking lot to the lodge. It wasn’t a bad walk but would be muddy if it had rained.
