Very Nice

We first contacted them through their published mobile number but the owner is not responsive. Conveniently, the lodge is also listed in Agoda. This is located overlooking Echo Valley near Sagada Hub and Sumaguing cave. Along the way, you will pass by Yoghurt House, Lemon Pie House, and Sagada Brew. The room is spacious and clean with hot and cold shower. Towels are provided, though there are no toiletries. No available breakfast but you can cook in their kitchen, just clean afterwards. There is also a nearby bakery selling wheat breads. For the price, this is quite a steal.

Clean and a convenient location. However a few points to keep in mind.

Isabelo's is just opposite the main bus stop, jeepney stop and the tourism office making it a convenient place to stay. Its close to many restaurants stores and souvenir shops. The place is clean and as we took the room with the private bath, it had a small balcony which we liked as well. On both days we stayed, there was a power outage in town which maybe expected in this hilly area. However, its important to bear in mind that the Inn has to back up generator so its best to charge anything important while you can. The WiFi was OK. Not fast for streaming but definitely alright. (There are no TVs in the room.) The bathroom was a bit small as the toilet is wedged between the door and the wall in an awkward manner. Considering the price paid, I would say the Ammenities would be average and the staff weren't overly friendly as well. The restaurant was non-functional at the time however breakfast was included with a generous serving of Omlette or different silogs. Overall we had a good stay. Would definitely pick it for convenience if your spending most of your day out and about and just using it to sleep. But it's important to keep your expectations in check.

Neither Agoda nor the hotel informed us of the requirements for travel to Baguio. As a result, we were stuck at a checkpoint for 1 ½ hour trying to hastily arrange the needed paperwork. This time sucking inconvenience and hassle would have been avoided had the hotel let us know before travel that we needed to visit a website and upload copies of licenses etc. (there had been various personal emails between us). The Covid requirements were very proforma, all easily provided and accomplished but not when you are stuck on a mountain road at a checkpoint with barely an internet signal. I was furious. This was a screw-up. When I arrived at the hotel. The manager came to speak to me. She took responsibility. We worked out a reasonable settlement. She did her job in spades. I was so impressed. And I let her know. So, yes – stay in this hotel. The staff care, make adjustments and take responsibility when they screw up. The room was fine. TV worked very well – had premium channels and good reception. This hotel is run by someone who cares about their service and their customers. It shows.

Highland Inn and Restaurant

Moderately difficult to get to, but worth it!

Reviewed By PogiPinoy

This was a great place to stay for the hike at the Batad Rice Terraces. We, 6 adults and 7 teenagers, arrived at night and it was about a 45 minute walk from where we parked. The route was very narrow, with some areas being only single file, and we had to use flashlights because the path is not lit. The route is also on the side of a mountain so you must be aware of where you are walking. We had to leave non-essentials in our vehicle but we did have help carrying some gear from the guides working at the Inn. The Inn is on the side of the mountain as well and there are some great views overlooking the rice terraces once the sun comes up. The Inn and Restaurant itself was small and the rooms were as well. It had about 9 them if I recall correctly. The upstairs rooms are full and queen sized beds and the downstairs rooms are bunk beds. There are 2 toilets, one in the restaurant and one upstairs, and 2 showers, one downstairs and one in the restaurant. Only the downstairs shower had hot water when we stayed. The meals were separate and were not included in the price of the rooms. I suggest placing your order ahead of time because the food does take some time to be prepared. There is also no air conditioning or fans in the rooms, but since they are located high in the mountains, it was relatively cool at night and I did not feel hot on the bed. The next day we went off on the hike through the Batad Rice Terraces and to Tappiya Falls. Highland Inn provided us with one of the guides from the night before that helped us get to the hotel. Be warned, this is not an easy hike. There was a great deal of stairs and some areas you have to be much more cautious because there was nothing to help you stay steady. Balance is essential on this hike as well as being reasonably healthy/fit. There was no time limit but I suggest getting back before dark. We left early in morning around 8:30 and came back around 1PM. We also put our orders for lunch in then so when we came back it was ready to be served. Overall a great experience thanks to the kind and helpful people at the Highland Inn and Restaurant. I would definitely recommend them to other travelers looking to have an enjoyable time at the Batad Rice Terraces.

Sagada - not so welcoming

Reviewed By darryls947

After a 5 kilometers detour to get to Sagada, there was this receptionist at the street entrance. Apparently, we found out that a minimum overnight reservation is required to enter the site. They do not allow day tour or drive through. Oh well, not really kin to see hanging coffins. Seen a few in Mongolia and Egypt. I just hope there is a warning ahead or a notice at the street detour before they get you to drive all the way and waste 10 kilometres of energy for nothing. That’s 1 hour drive each way!
