THE BEST HOSTEL IN NANTOU
Reviewed By ethancheng0824I stayed at this hostel during May 8th to May 9th. The whole experience is amazing! Friendly staffs, useful recommendations, and beautiful decorations make this hostel so unique and comfortable. I would love to recommend everyone who wants to save money and meet people from different countries to stay here. There is one of the best accommodations near Sun Moon Lake!:)

Reviewed By nnngggaaaI enjoyed my stay there. The receptionist was friendly and saw that we had kids. Hence, they provided us with overwhelming information for us to keep our kids entertained during our stay. Going the extra mile, they also gave us rooms on the same floor beside each other which I appreciated. The facilities were terrific, and there are countless things to do, such as Karaoke, chess room and gaming area. Even though some are currently unavailable, but that is inevitable. These are some relatively uncommon facilities, at least for me. It is a great place to unwind and be away from all worries temporarily. I would return when the opportunity arises.

Don’t bother
Reviewed By Kosciusko_11Booked the ‘Lake view’ ‘King suite’ for a couple of nights hoping for a nice escape. Here is my disappointment: the suite is not a corner suite as shown on hotels.com. In fact the only discernible difference to the “standard double room” is the bed size - don’t book the suite! The sofa is old, stained and uncomfortable. The lake view could more accurately be described in advertising as a partial lake view. I asked to leave one day early but was told this was not possible due to the hotels.com policy. Understandable but very disappointing. Also won’t use hotels.com again.

Reviewed By jamesng_sfHu Yue is conveniently located at the Yidashao ferry terminal at Sun Moon Lake. Staff is friendly and helpful The Lake view room is spectacular. Room is very well maintained with all the needed necessity. Since it's right at the Yidashao market, all the restaurants or Taiwanese snack place are in walking distance. The included breakfast was outstanding as well, offering wide range of variety. Hu Yue is great for both family with kids, or couples who is looking for a romantic getaway.

Great hotel, great area
Reviewed By dudleybsmithWe very much enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast was very good, the staff friendly, and the area is a great place to stay on Sun Moon Lake. When we visited, tourism was way down due to Covid 19. We felt the hotel had all the needed safety protocols in place, and did not let the lack of guests reduce their level of service. It was everything we expect from a highly rated hotel. The village of Ita Thao has a lot of indigenous charm, and nearby attractions like the Culture Park and Gondola are worth a visit. There is some construction on the waterfront currently.

Reviewed By planttravelThis is not a 4 star hotel. It is a 4 star location, but rooms really need a refurb. Our lake facing room had carpets that were filthy, and smelt. Management did offer to change out rooms, and did apologise, but it’s not a good impression. We did not take up this offer due to lateness, and being the last night. Bedding was comfortable, and decent ammenities provided. The breakfast was not very enticing. Staff not overly friendly, but busy.

Reviewed By AHSU18Walking distance to the boat ride and cable cars. The hotel located in the area with lots of little shops and food. Very good location. There is a restaurant onsite, breakfast was included in our package. The selection was ok. We also had dinner one night here and it was very good. Highly recommended.

Reviewed By 187duncI was only here for one night. My stay was pleasant enough. Though I have to say my room looked nothing like the rooms advertised. I did have a room with a view and the view was lovely. But the hotel had a very old school feel. It looked like a hotel you would find on the Costa Del Sol in the 80s. There's no real warmth to the hotels interior and I could almost be in an office building. The room as very much the same, but then having said that it was blooming big with two large double beds. The room was clean enough. The location of the hotel is decent enough and you're meters away from the lake. The hotel have bikes you can take out, which I recommend as the best way to see the lake. But take my word for it, going round the whole of the lake will take you a few hours. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they were properly wonderful. Breakfast was ok, I get the feeling that they usually offer a buffet. But due to the fact that there only appeared to be me and one other couple. We all appeared to be given a tray containing eggs, fish, vegetables and fruit. Which turned out to be plenty. I would recommend this place. But don't expect your room to look anything like the photos.

Nice hotel but quality is going down..
Reviewed By helloyvrIt’s fantastic hotel with nice location and lovely view but not worth to spend money to buy dining package deal. We spend over $1,100 USD for Japanese tatami room with lake view but no chalice to buy dinner package deal. The steak was hard to chew, lobster was not fresh, portion was small, no choice for wine. The happy hour was ok, not too many selection for snacks. The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel only provides limit supplies such as tooth brushes, combs, coffee, tea…etc. They should provide more services such as included boat ride and improve services to match with the high price they charge.

Reviewed By Beezel44This hotel is an old wooden structure which is very appealing, and it's right on the lake (normally, not during a drought) The staff are very friendly and helpful, switching to English when they saw us. There's an indoor pool and also jacuzzis and saunas in the men's and women's locker rooms. Unfortunately, the pool was freezing cold and unusable, and since the jacuzzis were sex-segregated my son had to hang out by himself. The room was large and the bathroom has been updated, but the room decor is old and the rugs look horrible, dirty and worn. The buffet breakfast was not good, there were very few selections for typical Western or Asian breakfast. A lot of the items were more like lunch; stir fried veggies, salad, soup. Dinner was a set meal that didn't work at all for kids and there were no other options.
