Reviewed By seigwailoI have to say this is objectively a decent place. I would not necessarily stay again, because it has nothing special or note worthy but it is objectively OK. Location: It is located in the centre of Yilan so has access to all the local stores, shops, and normal city services. It is also just down the road within biking/driving distance to the hot spring area with the hotels, small pedestrian streets, etc. Amenities: It is quite a big hotel, with many spacious rooms, a big lobby, some parking out front for cars and the usual wifi internet and good TV if needed. They serve an okay buffet breakfast, and they have a shuttle service to the main attraction area of "Jiao Si" (in Taiwanese phonetics, or "Jiao Xi / 礁溪" in Mandarin Chinese) which I mentioned above. The only negative comment I would have is about the general feel and decoration: this is definitely not a place that westerners would come to, it has a very Chinese-like style, with too much detail (sometimes tacky) and the wear and tare of the hotel has started to show in the rooms and decoration. But the toilets were recently revamped and were very modern, clean, and well kept as far as I could tell. Service/Staff: All is well in Taiwan, and this was no exception, staff were helpful, welcoming and friendly. Nothing I can say more.

Clean, inconvenient, and fake eco-friendly policies
Reviewed By CanIGoWithYouWe chose the hotel for a brief one-night stay at Yilan because we've had great experience with Lakeshore properties, and that it offered an eco-friendly plan which forgoes all single-use plastic. However, we were very disappointed to find out that the so-called eco-friendly plan is nothing more than greenwash. The room was only stocked with a bath towel for each traveler. I asked the front desk about face or hand towels, but the front desk staff declined providing them, saying that the eco-friendly plan does not include those. The front desk staff also suggested us using the provided facial tissues to wipe our faces and hands. When I pointed the obvious wastefulness, the staff mentioned that they are happy to provide more facial tissues if we ran out, just no face nor hand towels. The hotel also doesn't really seem to care about reducing plastics. Our room was stocked with lots of bottled water, as well as small cans of soda. This is despite that there is a filling station at every floor. At checkout, I mentioned the hypocrisy to the front desk manager. Her thanked me for the suggestion, and asked me if I want to take a few bottled water for the road. Other than the greenwash, the hotel met our needs. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and despite being a family-friendly hotel, it was very quiet in the room (could also due to the lower occupancy). The major downsides are that the property is very far from basically everything (restaurants, train stations, bus terminals, and tourist spots) in Yilan. The Wi-Fi was also unencrypted. I would probably stay again if the need arises, but I would make sure I book a room with enough towels so I don't have to waste two boxes of facial tissues.

Service by hotel staff was excellent as they brought us to our room and explained the facilities. There was breakfast included with the stay but the spread is limited and food were cold (might be because we went down late). Room had a small window showing the alley area. Bed was comfortable but pillows was quite soft. Room came with a shower, separate small bathtub (which was really awkward, see image), hairdryer, towels, slippers as well as free amenities (Shampoo, Shower Gel, Body Lotion, Cotton Wool, Cotton Sticks, Shaving Kit & Toothbrush Kit). Hotel is 2min walk to Dongmen Night Market and 8min walk to Yilan Station (do note that the road from station to hotel is not luggage friendly as they are bricks with gaps). Surrounding areas were Restaurants, supermarkets and Jimmy Square (5min from Yilan Station). Alternatively, one can take the train to Luodong/Jiaoxi Station or further to explore as taxi rides are rather expensive in Yilan (starting price 120twd compared with Taichung/Taipei of 70twd). When we checked-out, we were given 2 packets of Yilan's specialty product as a souvenir too! :)

And the rooms at 8-9 Floor are also good with sound-proof (you can only hear noisy from aisle before 10:00pm. However, the staffs needs additional training (restaurant and hotel), whom looks like part-time works (talking or feedback not very familiar). The bed is too soft that cannot sleeping well. 飯店設施相當友善,.8-9樓除了可以借電動玩具車,還有遊樂設施適合,游泳池也適合有帶小朋友的家庭.隔音除了晚上10:00前會聽到來自走道的聲音,其他房間對房間的隔音很棒.唯一就是人員的訓練需要改善.口語應對上缺乏訓練.感覺太像工讀生了.還有就是房間的床太軟了.如果有小朋友一起睡在大床上,可能要小心.

Reviewed By noordinarydayGreat location, situated opposite of Yilan train station, 2 minutes away from Yilan tourist information centre, 2 minutes walk to dongmen night market, lots of nice eatery shops within walking distance for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The lounger and book cafe is amazing, opens at 8am until 5pm. You can hangout here for breakfast or lunch, even for afternoon coffee. Great ambience. The dorm room is nice and spacious, the air conditioning in the room is just nice, cabinet storage is next to your bed, so is easy access and still have leg rooms before drawing the curtain. The bathroom and wc is en-suite inside the room. So easy access. There is bedroom slippers available for you. Overall the rooms, bathrooms, bookcafe they are cozy and clean. I would stay here again.

Out of town but rooms are high end!
Reviewed By Erki TStayed there for 2 nights without even realising that we booked a motel. It's hard to get by using English but the reception girls know very well how to use google translate on their phones ;) The room starts with a massive garage down a long and scary corridor but after getting through the parking space you will be amazed. The king bed is very comfortable, the spa bath is probably for a family of 5 and the view from our level 3 room was rather pleasant. The strange thing is that there's nothing but a string curtin between the bed and the toilet so be prepared to do your business in front of each other. Breakfast not worth it though - on the second morning we found a great little place around the corner that served some super cheap and really good noodle soup instead. Very friendly service and as Yilan is a great little place the 30 minute walk to and from the train station and the center of town was very enjoyable with little restaurants, street food and bars on the way. If you're not a walker then as we all know taxi service is cheap in Taiwan. With the WiFi make sure you preorder it as they only have a limited supply of routers that they give out for free Internet.
