The dinner & drinks they provided were WAY more than I expected (pulled pork sliders!) …thought it was going to be cheese & cracker type snacks! Had we known, we could have just ate supper there!! The breakfast they offered was great, too! (Sausage Patties, biscuits, scrambled eggs) Room was clean. Everyone was super nice! Really, only thing I can say bad is the elevator floors needed to be vacuumed.

Rudest cleaning staff

Reviewed By onefreefilly

Every day the cleaning staff was in the hallway yelling. And I'm not kidding. Yelling. I had to open my door at one point and ask them to be quiet. I couldn't even hear my tv and trying to have a conversation while they were nearby was impossible. The rooms were clean so they did that right. Otherwise, the front desk staff were very good. The location was good.

Stay away

If you are looking for a dirty hotel with broken electronics that smells like marijuana, this is the place for you. Hallways looked like a vaccuum hasn't touched them in weeks. TV and hair drier both didn't work and I was told by the front desk person, who came stumbling out of the back looking like he just woke up, that there was nothing he could do to help. My advice is to find another place to stay.

Nice stay at Somerset

Reviewed By mythreeJs

Stayed five nights with my 16 year old son for the USA Hockey Nationals competition. Pleasant staff, easy check in. We requested 2 doubles and a refrigerator, and the reservation was correct when we checked in and arrived in our room. Bathroom is extremely clean. Have someone clean the lime scale around the faucet handles before your black counters are ruined! Bedding is bright white and appears new and clean, mattresses were fine but pillows were either squishy or rock hard. Carpets seem clean, but under the beds were many candy wrappers. Breakfast buffet for our USA Hockey group was every morning with generously long hours. Huge steaming trays of real, not powdered, scrambled eggs, perfect bacon, large chunks of browned country potatoes, either pancakes or french toast and every imaginable bread, bagel or muffin. Cold cereal but no oatmeal for GF girl. Fruit was only apples oranges and bananas, I would have enjoyed some melon, berries or a fruit salad instead. Banquet servers were very efficient at keeping stocked and cleaning up. Nice job day after day. Check out was also a breeze. Was charged $10 for a room microwave we didn't receive, but easily corrected. Microwave for all rooms in the tower is in the executive business center, behind the single desk and computer. Odd placement, but I didn't need it this trip. Towels, soap and toiletries were readily available from housekeeping or front desk if more were needed, but room housekeeping service was still limited due to covid restrictions. Hotel fitness center includes two treadmills, one bike and two ellipticals plus some large mats and a set of dumbbells. Enough for a basic workout, and not the smallest hotel gym I have seen. Elevators in the main hotel are very efficient and keep waiting to a minimum. Bar service was friendly and prices not unreasonable. House wine was quite tasty! I did not dine here but based on the breakfast I am sure their food is competently prepared. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Disappointed

Reviewed By FlyAtNight

We last stayed here in 2019 when it was Candlewood Suites. Based on that wonderful stay, we booked another 2 night stay last week. It appears that much has changed (in a bad way) since our previous visit, and ownership change. Some observations: 1. I requested a room on the upper level, but was told everything was sold out, and was given a room on the first floor facing the parking lot. Just seems strange if the parking lot was never more than 1/4 full, was the hotel really sold out?

I Really Liked This Hotel Until....

Reviewed By Bertha55

I really liked this hotel. I have stayed there 3 times in the last few months however on this trip I was appalled and disgusted to discover that the middle spread on the bed I slept on was soiled and stained. I did not notice this when I went to sleep the night before because it was covered with the light top cover and I was tired. I cannot believe that the person who made the bed did not see the stains and dirt on the bed spread. I am traumatized by the thought that I slept in a bed covered with unclean bedding that a stranger slept in, especially during a pandemic! When I came to TripAdvisor to write a review, I saw that someone else reported a similar situation in August, so I am shocked that this problem is still occurring. I really hope this problem will be addressed. The hotel is fairly new, the rest of the room appeared very clean and the location is good.

Raggedy Red Roof Ghetto Inn

I would love to give this motel (why they refer to themselves as as "hotel" is beyond me! You don't typically park right outside a hotel room door/window, and be subject to all the noisy vehicles with rattling mufflers and loud music vibrating directly from the parking lot, do you? For the most part, the staff here is friendly and efficient... With the exception of "Dennis", who referred to himself as the Owner of this establishment. Someone in his position should have had some type of Customer Service training, but sadly, no. That probably explains the high turnover of Managers and staff working at this location... And it DEFINITELY explains why he has no clue how y treat others (especially paying guests who are helping him keep his "hotel" afloat! It's quite obvious that the only reason some guests are able to have an extended stay at a reduced rate, is due to the fact that he otherwise cannot keep his "hotel" at maximum capacity! Oh, and let's not forget how frequently the Troy Police Dept makes a regular "drive through", to see what's what. On one occasion while I was staying there, last summer, I was startled by a loud knock on my room's door, at around 1:30 AM... I had heard what I assumed were firecrackers, a few minutes earlier, but was informed by the police that, no what I'd actually heard was gunshots, and the police were seeing what the guests may have seen, etc. , collecting names, address info., etc., so that they could take a "witness statement"!! More recently (on Sunday, April 10th), I heard a loud disturbance upstairs from my room. It was two men and a woman involved - I could tell by their (very loud!) voices. After listening to the thumping around and cursing for awhile (this started a little before 2 AM - and continued for QUITE a long time!), I then decided to call the Front Desk. I was told to go ahead and call the Troy Police, who eventually sent a patrol car out to see what was going on. Long story, short - the police had to come back out at least a 2nd time before these folks finally settled down completely. (By this time it was nearly 3:30 AM!!) I just found out last week that the folks causing the ruckus were from out of town, and that they had left the room very damaged - AND with "blood and HAIR everywhere!", according to one manager. Now with all this mess/violence etc., in mind, I happened to return to my "hotel" room a couple of days later, to find the overhead light (which I seldom use) on - and also saw that one of the nightstands had been pushed up very close to the bed (as well as moved forward). I immediately knew that someone has been in my room, and it both upset AND frightened me! I called the Front Desk, who claimed that they knew nothing about anyone being in the room. Just a few minutes later, I could hear a "click" of a room key being inserted in my room's door! I panicked, and shouted for whoever it was to get away from the door - and the person (I didn't see, or have any idea who it could be!) promptly ran off! Now I was REALLY frightened and upset! Whoever it was never knocked on the door, announced who they were before using the key to enter, or anything! Who DOES that?!? So I immediately called the Troy Police and let them know what had happened... Keeping it a bit "simple" it turned out that it was someone from Maintenance who had needed to access the water pipes - and that was in the room I occupied, by the nightstand! I did not have any problem with that - but WHO would be brazen or stupid enough (let alone inconsiderate and unprofessional!!) to just walk into a room, not knowing if it was occupied or not?!? Never mind that - ok n the first place I should have been my notified that they needed access to my room! (
