The best breakfast I've ever had!

Reviewed By tungtung1210

Spacious room, with individual parking lot, a small pool, bath tub, and sofa. And a big bed, very comfortable! Forgot to check which brand it is... Most importantly, the most nutritious and delicious breakfast I have ever had before. Over 10 kinds of vegetables, soup was tasty, at least 4 different fruits. We never spent so much time for breakfast! Price was about NTD.6000(USD 200) for 2 nights. Highly recommended if you visit Tainan!

Could have been so much better..

Maple Hotel is in a pretty decent localish area with local good available nearby. The hotel has a good snack area where you can have coffee, ice cream and snacks anytime from 3pm-12am daily. They also have a laundry area where guests can wash their laundry for free - even powder is provided. Although I didn't use the service, it seems they have bicycles available if you wish to ride around town too. Staff at the front desk are polite and willing to answer any queries you might have...the command of english of the staff are not very good, it might be difficult to get clear information. That is where the positives end I am afraid. From what I observe, the good things end in the hotel lobby. Once you take the lifts up to room levels, you will be greeted with cigarette stench almost immediately. I was given a room with cigarette stench on the first day but tolerated it as it was late. The next day I asked for a change of room and was given a room at the corner which has very strong wind noise coming into the room and the toilet has a strange blue gel around the rubber seals of the bathtub...this time I asked immediately if I could take another room instead and got a smaller room with didn't have the same issues. The next day however, housekeeping forgot to replenish the tea, coffee, water, shampoo, soap and toilet roll (totally used) during their room makeup... I had to ask for all the items to be sent to the room instead. I think there is something obviously wrong with the maintenance of the rooms as the rooms are not very clean at all and they have a serious problem with cigarette stench (was told this is a non-smoking hotel). Overall, I felt that the front office staff did their best to remedy the mistakes but I think that the hotel is not very well managed. They just need to take a look at Dong Wu Hotel (an old but immaculately maintained hotel) in Taipei to learn how to keep a hotel at the top of the game. Very disappointed.

Great value and adequate comfort in Tainan

Reviewed By bbonne

We booked at the Young Soarlan Boutique Hotel for a night during a long holiday weekend a week before on Hotels.com, for what I thought was a decent rate during a high-demand time, to attend a wedding. Our room was perfectly adequate for one night with all the amenities we needed: a refrigerator, four bottles of water, an electric tea kettle, plenty of space for our carry-on luggage, flat-screen television, and desk. The linens and the bathroom seemed to be bleach-white clean. The air conditioning was much appreciated, as the wedding had been held outdoors in unusually warm weather. At breakfast the next day, there was a small buffet of mostly Taiwanese-style breakfast offerings: rice porridge with sweet potato and typical porridge toppings, steamed rice, stir-fried noodles, various tofu and vegetable dishes, chicken nuggets, and steamed egg. There was also toast and steamed buns available. The only beverages on offer were coffee and tea. My only two quibbles about the hotel were minor: the bed was firmer than I'd like (though this is generally true of Taiwan, and even a luxury hotel in Taipei is not immune to this problem), and that when we arrived to breakfast, there was a shortage of plates. I constantly had to ask the server for dishware, which to his credit, he promptly refilled. To be fair, we had arrived towards the end of breakfast service. It wasn't luxurious, but the staff were friendly and the room was clean and well-appointed. It exceeded my expectations.

Great stay and great food!!

Our stay was great. Total nine of us and stayed in 4 different rooms for 2 nights. The place was quiet, clean, and modern for a good night sleep. You HAVE TO eat breakfast there!!! Food was wonderful. Lucy is so creative, so you really need to spend some time with her and let her tell you the theme of the place. She changes it periodically.

Wehome Motel

It's a love hotel.

Reviewed By Boriski

This was an overnight stop for me on a cycling tour of Taiwan. What's good: room was very very large and clean. Bed was the softest in 3 weeks of travel in Taiwan. What's not so good: The room reeked of cigarette smoke. It was even in the sheets. Please get with the times Taiwan and stop letting people smoke in hotels. Some hotels in Taipei fine smokers, others seem to still allow this. As an athlete on a cycling tour, it is putrid smelling smoke while you are trying to sleep. It's also a 'love hotel', which unfortunately I didn't see advertised in the Agoda listing, which was annoying, so there are condoms next to the bed. I didn't use the jizcuzzi either... There is only one powerpoint in the entire room, so if you need to use a hairdryer in the bathroom, you can"t, and you'll have to leave your mobile phone over in the corner. I guess if you're there for the love hotel you won't care about your phone, but I was trying to do route planning for the next day, and spent hours in the corner, on the floor, like a naughty kid, just so my phone would have charge. It's a wierd arrangement checking in. Most people probably arrive in vehicles. I didn't and ther is no reception counter and they started to check me in on the driveway. I had to pull stuff out of my backpack onto the driveway to get my passport out, befire I asked if we could go into their office. There's also no key for the unit so if you ever want to leave your love nest and eat (I did!), you'll have to press the roll door button and then run under it before it closes on you. On returning back to the property, the office will open the roller dior for you so you can get back in. Trying to leave the next morning wuth a fully loaded bike and dodge the roller door was almost as good as dodging Taiwanese traffic. A block away there was a 7-eleven, and not much else. It was okay for an overnight stay but the cigarette smoke ruined my stay. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't stay again.
