Clean and central
Reviewed By Guide813746This hotel is located by a petrol station right in the center of Santigo de la Ribera. It is a short walk to the beach, the weekly market and to a theatre. Breafast is continental and sufficient. The hotel was spotless and has Wifi. Nobody really speaks much English but eveybody is friendly and helpful. We booked room 113 which has a large balcony. Unfortunately it was not quite as on the photo which features plants, loungers and a sun umbrella. There was just a table and 2 chairs which was disappointing as we spent a whole week there and would have liked to spent more time on the balcony. This hotel is fine for house hunting and business trips. If you come on holiday there are other places right on the beach which would be more suitable.

Reviewed By susandC8817VSRecently stayed here , not for the first time , and although we appreciate that covid has taken it's toll found the hotel very tired. The shower had a door missing , the basin had a crack and there were various areas in need if repair. The room stunk of smoke and the persiana cord needed replacing. One of the beds had a board under the mattress which clunked when you moved. The pool wasn't available and the bar was closed for most of the time . It is a shame and we hope they get back on track because the place was very clean as was the bedding . The staff as usual were very good and friendly.

Suprised by this hotel in a good way
Reviewed By X540DXjuliecMy hubsband had stayed in another hotel close by the previous month and it was appalling so did not have great expectations. Hotel is nice and clean, rooms have are pretty basic, but have most requirements. No tea and coffee facilities, but fridge. Hairdryer in bathroom. Breakfast is continental, self service, but good range of food and drinks. Would stay again, excellent value and close to all amenities and city centre. Swimming pool is located across the road, went for a look and is in a locked place behind a car park and would therefore be safe for children. In its own way its quite private. Also has a bit of a play area and seated section.

No Sleep - Zero!
Reviewed By Ronny64NorwayI Can Not Sleep In 26 Degrees C! That is why I always book hotel rooms With AC! The ignorant management AND staff at the Hotel Ribera ruined not only 1 night for us, but also the next day and night; without any sleep it is relatively impossible to enjoy or even function the next day! I always travel with an indoor / outdoor thermometer, it usually makes hotel staff understand it when an AC is not working. Not so at the Ribera! -We had a late check-in, and around 23 it was pretty clear that the AC in the room had precisely NO effect. My wife went down to the front desk and showed the woman there a photo of the thermometer, which showed 26 degrees outside and 27(!) in the room. Instead of offering us another room (in the almost empty hotel), she “would come up in 5 minutes and FIX(!) it. We waited in suspense for the magic to happen. She showed up, and immediately could determine that the AC was Ok, just by holding her hand up towards the AC INtake.. I explained that it was NOT, and she then found a magic solution: by turning the thermostat wheel from our minimum setting of 15 degrees, to a setting of 17 degrees.. “Now OK” she said and left. I had given up arguing, it is impossible to discuss anything with a person who is completely ignorant, and it was past midnight. All night the room temp was 1 degree warmer than outside, by 06 in the morning it was as "low" as 25. I Did Not Get Any Sleep! A total disrespect for your guests! Shame!

It is as some reviews say in need of an update, but having said that it is clean, staff were lovely and very helpful, the position is just a delight we had a room with a sea view on the front of the hotel. If money was to be spend on it to make it a 3 star prices would rise and it is a quaint old original hotel. Loved every minute so much so we booked for next year whilst we were there.

Overpriced
Reviewed By Lee19mo79I was a solo traveller and paid 55 Euros per night. The room was tiny (almost like prison cell) with single bed and built in wardrobe. There was a fridge in the room that used the only power socket.. so you could either have a cold fridge or use the socket to charge your phone. A small bathroom was attached with small shower, toilet and sink. I was shocked this hotel was classified as 3*. It is similar to cheap hostels I've stayed in throughout my travels over the years. Book well in advance to get this hotel at a much cheaper realistic price as it's defiantly not worth the money I had to pay. The receptionist was really sweet although she couldn't speak English (I hate saying that as I should know Spanish as a visitor) and the Hotel is about 5 mins walk from beach.

Reviewed By Gary HGenerally poor and slow service. The Russian salad tasted like the one from mercadona and was an astonishing €8. I have included a photo (which we had already started eating) - be your own judge of whether it’s worth €8. The ‘secret Iberian Pork’ came with crisps! This just seems lazy… which it felt like the whole meal was. The meat was so salty. It was like it was cooked in a bath of salt, and was then covered in salt. I actually ordered the same cut of meat from another restaurant recently so I hd a good reference point. My friends steak was tough. It was busy so we assumed it would be nice- perhaps they couldn’t keep up with it being so busy. The staff were working hard. Generally a poor experience though and I wouldn’t return. €50 for two for lunch with drinks (we did have a few soft drinks). I do think the focus is on fish in the restaurant (which we didn’t have and for all we know it could have been really nice). Possibly the most disappointing meal that I’ve had in Spain so far: it felt like a €10 lunch for €50.

Avoid at all cost
Reviewed By reevet_12When I got to the hotel I booked in for 6 nights and paid for 6 nights, on the last night the owner said I have only paid for 5 night and that I needed to pay for the 6th night what I have already paid for, she was having none of it. Be very careful people as the owner is conning people!! Also the room was very small would not recommend. Pay a bit extra to stay somewhere else with better facilities.
